It’s me again. Re: Lost.

So what are these two? Or more importantly, what do they WANT to be to each other?

There are certainly traces of desire between them. When he touches her and she closes her eyes. When she turns to him with that look on her face as if to say, “this is dangerous.” The look on his face daring her, keeping her in the intimacy of the moment.

More than their physical closeness, it’s these careful looks they exchange, the silences between them, the unspoken; that I found to be incredibly erotic.
So much heat and tension!
Whereas their embrace was more of an expression of the tenderness between them and their desire to console & protect each other.

Again: terrific acting, lighting & directing in this scene. What a choreography of movements!

    Agree. Yesterday I was rewatching and wondered how much work and preparation is needed to make such a deep and perfect scene (the writing is terrific, so deep, and acting and directing complement it so perfectly).

    The acting was absolutely great here. And yes, the movements …. rushing them wouldn’t have worked here. Neither would pausing for too long. It’s that whole timing thing and these two actors executed things perfectly.

    I rewatched this scene because I miss so many micro expressions from these two actors. The little details they give away. So beautiful!! And yet they both stayed true to their personality. I went ‘yeah, I see why she would clench her hands’.
    And the lighting and music.
    So much happened when technically nothing happened 🙂

    omg!! these two.. I felt like I was invading their privacy in that tent.. The way these look at each other.. it does things.. it does.. phew.. These 2 actors are doing a phenomenal job here.
    And his face when the bus makes a turn and he sees her again…
    its these little moments that get you.. The way she looks at his face, her little smiles, his little smirks…

    What is it about? I watched the first 8 eps and the last eps were so boring I didn’t feel interested in the rest. I like the actors and the characters but the plot was dragging so much and the leads only had 10 minutes together each episode.

      Hmm. That’s a good question.

      It’s about grief & loneliness & longing, and two people trying to get past it.

      Admittedly, there’s a plot. What with Bujeong’s beef with Jeong Aran… but I wouldn’t say that’s what drives the show. It’s rather character-centred and slow, which I’m personally enjoying.

      I also like the other characters (maybe not BJ’s mother-in-law, I find her too abrasive) and their stories. They’re interesting enough & fit well within the story but don’t overshadow our main leads’ story.

      I thought the first 8 ep. were pretty nice. Things have gotten more intense after that.

      Maybe it’s not your kind of show if you haven’t been enjoying it. 😅

        I’m happy to relish every little moment they’re together. You can’t be in a hurry with this drama. It’s the slow movement in a concerto. Essentially it’s about people who are struggling to find purpose in their lives.

This hour of Lost was the BEST hour of the show so far–and any show I\’ve seen in a while!! In fact, best hour of my year so far.
THE GLANCES. THE GLINT IN THEIR EYES. THE SUBTLE SMILES & TEASING. THE DIALOGUE. 😭

Leaves me breathless.

About to watch tonight\’s ep. of Lost.
All week I\’ve been thinking about how the show invites us to gaze into human despair and pain and fear. One of the most enjoyable aspects of this show for me is that it doesn\’t really focus on the morality of our characters per se. In a way, everyone\’s compromised, but no one is exempt from the particularities of (their) life that can make life long and lonely and painful. There are antagonists, but even then, most of them have their fair share of grievances to deal with that we ourselves can empathize with to a certain extent. I really like that.

        I was just trying to toe the line between calling out the Trumpianisms and the transphobia without actually using those words and starting a war on the thread. DB is not an apolitical space, but I cannot scroll by hate that will harm other Beanies without saying something. There are trans Beanies, there are Beans who are still figuring out who they are, and I don’t want them to think no one here will push back on blatant anti-trans statements.

We often have to ignore blatant homophobia and transphobia just to participate in online communities. I’m so happy to see allies here, allies who actually care. Had to mute the words \”Squid Game\” on twitter. I do plan to watch it, but I can\’t take this kind of hype where everyone is giving their 2 cents.
DB is like a world of its own & specifically about k-dramas anyways, which is why I like it.

Beanies, it\’s been a while. Life has been happening. Haven\’t had much time for dramas since June. But also nothing caught my attention beside Hospital Playlist 2. Whic I decided not to live-watch & save for this winter!

Currently watching Human Disqualification/ Lost and LOVING it! It\’s so intimate. Slow, full of loneliness and longing. Dream pairing, great cast, great script and directing. I couldn\’t have asked more for these oncoming colds days!
This resonates so much with me & I can tell it will be a memorable watch if it keeps up this excellence.

Haven’t seen today’s ep. yet, but I’m loving DAYS (are we calling it this)!
SIG is bringing such a delicious machiavellian vibe, intensity & nuanced vulnerability! No one better to play this kind of character than him!
And PBY can do no wrong. I love her mischief, bonkers energy & tenacity. Truly a dream pairing!

And shout-out to Lee Soohyuk who I hadn’t recognized in the 1st ep. How did he get so much more handsome??? 😧😢

The whole set-up and all the fantasy. I mean it\’s PBY and SIG?! I missed them both on screen.

I will also check out Mine, which I have been anticipating.

    I’ve finished six dramas so far, but the only one that was really worth it was Run On. I enjoyed every minute of that drama.

    I’ve watched tons but Run On definitely is at the top with Vincenzo and Beyond Evil good watches as well. I’m looking forward to Hospital Playlist 2 also. I think the new drama by Age of Youth is supposed to come out in May, which I have an eye on.

    This year is lackluster so far, compared to 2020. I like Run On too but it’s not impactful – it’s over when it’s over, nothing sticky with you.

    I am therefore very surprised after watching Sweet Home which is not normally my kind of drama that it sticks and all characters stay with me. That is, I care about those characters and I want to know what they are up to. And there are so many perspectives to dissect that drama – existence, religion, humanity. It is the best drama this year.

    Of course, who won’t anticipate HP2. Can’t wait to see our friends on screen again.

Beanies hello!
Haven\’t watched a drama or been on DB since early Feb. when Run On ended. 😫
First I was in a slump, but now none of the airing shows interest me at all.

I\’m thinking of rewatching a show, something light and funny. Maybe Touch Your Heart/ Reach of Sincerity (2019)? Something along those lines.
I miss tuning into a good show weekly.

    Regarding Touch your heart, you’ll love it. It is such as fluffy lovely romcom with a wonderful OTP.

    Sameee. Been on a slumo since. I started the web drama How to be Thirty. Surprisingly it’s good. Has digestible 20 to 25 minutes episodes and isn’t sub par quality at all (which I expect from web dramas)

    Touch your heart is super cute, but there is a court case involving a killing. It’s short—1 episode, maybe 2–and doesn’t really detract from the cuteness. Hello? It’s me! is HILARIOUS with some poignant moments though. It’s on now. It might be just what you need.
