Alchemy of Souls, what in the cluster fuck was that?!😡🤨😵‍💫
Feels like I wasted 11 weeks (including off week) on a big pile of 💩
So much potential wasted.

They could have had a tighter story for both seasons with just 24 episodes. But instead they added unnecessary filler and lost the momentum.
The story telling and plot points also became weak and disjointed. They created a great world. All they had to do was stick to the parameters and rules they set, not create new ones to suit their nonsensical storyline.
If they are trying to build a stage to set off the second season, well, they are doing a terrible job.
This would have been a perfect 24 episode drama.
The curse of the Hong Sisters is yet to be dispelled😩.
Hope they do ep20 a reasonable justice. Make things make sense, that’s all I want.

Honestly, I think the story could have been easily told in 20 episodes, better yet 16, but it’s kind of clear that the Hong Sisters became enamored with the world they created and lost track of the story they were telling. What they should have done IMO was finish this story with Uk and Nak-su in 20 episodes, and then if they wanted more, keep some of the supporting characters, bring in new leads, and transport them to another part of the country for a whole new story.

I agree. Episode 19 was just a mess. Even if I am trying to wait until the final episode to have an overall definitive view of the narrative, some glaring problems have been evident. Among these: How did Uk not ask about the events resulting in Mudeok/Naksu gaining her powers back? Maybe, the fact that she was nearly killed/killed and resurrected, should have come up between 2 people who are as close as those 2? What about using Jang Gang as deus ex machina? This was so predictable and devoid of any narrative potency, and how can Buyeon’s paternity being contradicted so absurdly. One minute she is not Wootak’s child. Next minute, she is the genetic inheritor of two powerful mage families. Wootak is dead now so what about his adamant belief? Sigh. And then some. At least, I still like most of the acting.

So many gaping open plot holes. The Hong sisters managed to make me feel like I am the dumbest kdrama viewer ever and it is so annoying. That scene with the queen was so dumb, like how can powerful mages not subdue someone without magic holding a puny little dagger to her face? And they were all just standing there amd dont let me start on the lengthy exposition by Park Jin before actually marching in their witness. And Danggu and Cho Yeon just happens to be in that village? Why? And then suddenly changing rules about the ice stone ? WTF?

Yup! So terrible that I’m glad I lost interest long back.

I wish I had the courage. My love for the cast and the first 12 episodes is what kept me going. I actually lost interest about the time The Good Detective 2’s bad subs came out.

If that’s all it takes, I need to get myself some magic bells. Hahahaha

Café Minamdang really frustrates me. While the writer is trying to make some plots line certain ways, they throw logic (and the FL) under the bus.
Was I the only one that had trouble with the last quarter of episode 9?
I mean rather than bring him in as a witness (he freaken fought gopuri), you decide to arrest him for your own sake.
And I’m sure there should be a law that protects him from such, but we can forget that exists in this reality, can’t we.
To make it worse, you bend his hands backwards to hypnotise him and face what he doesn’t want to face, so we can get Han-Jun vulnerable and he sees Jae-Hui in a new light??? Not cool show.
So many things are lacking and they are not joining the threads together the right way.
At this rate they should pair the FL and SML together. They actually fit more. I’ll rather there be understanding and level ground between the male and female lead than romance. I don’t see it working.
I really love Seo In-Guk, but the drama keeps getting worse. I think this is another Doom on his doorstep 😩.

I try to steer clear of makjangs and melos, especially revenge dramas about cheating and conniving women. Well most times.
But why do I love Remarriage and Desires so much like this😭?
It’s cliché and cheesy with choppy editing, bad continuity, and haphazard plot that could have done well if developed a little. There was nothing new about it, but the four leads have always been on my “I want you to do well list.” I had to show up for them (Lee Hyun Wook did so well as the male lead. Jung Eu Gene is delightful to hate) and I was proud of what I saw.
I wasn’t expecting to like it this much. The happy ending just made me love it more (I am a sucker for happy endings).
Is this how watching makjangs feel like?

My overactive imaginations would not stop creating scenarios of life after the ending for these characters (occupational hazard). Any work of fiction that makes me do that has won my heart.
I’m just happy they’re happy 😊.
So Remarriage and Desires is a bad cheese with a good taste in mouth. And I am not ashamed to say I ❤  it.

But Seori’s OST is perfect. I love it. (Not watching the show, just like her.)

The OST is actually chef’s kiss. I really loved the way it was utilised in the drama.

I’ve watched two episodes so far and like it but then I watched all three seasons of Love (ft Marriage and Divorce). Obviously, I have a thing for cheesy makjang about cheating and conniving women.

Me trying to convince everyone at home to watch Bloody Heart when I know they don’t watch seguks is an obvious losing battle.
But I will not give up. I shall prevail!!!✊🏿

And so, the drama and angst begins. I really hope they don’t go the way I think they will go.
Please show, surprise me. Be fun and heartwarming always.

Oh no! I hope it’s just an episode and then back to the underdogs playing badminton and winning!

My guess is that next week will be all angst but they’ll move on to happy times the week after? Or is that too much to ask for? Although it will be painful, I think we do need the four main characters to get closure and finally move on. Also I can’t wait for JH’s reaction to the siblings reveal.

Best Part of ep8 was Tae Joon realising Jung Hwan dated his sister 🤣🤣
Watched that scene several times. Can’t wait to see Jung Hwan’s deadpan reaction🤣🤣🤣
      Going to be comedy gold.

I had to replay TJ’s hilarious realisation too. He even made JH flinch 🤣
I was waiting for him to just snap and tell JH that he’s JY’s brother since he was so annoyed the whole episode but he never did. Just another thing TJ is holding in 😢

Why isn’t anyone talking about The King of Pigs? That show is awesome and nail biting. It’s a hard watch with all the violence, but really gives me joy when Friday rolls up.

It wasn’t licenced anywhere so I don’t think many are watching it.

    3
    2

True that. I know I am getting it through **the one I shall name**. But it’s really good.
TVING should really look for a way to licence its content on international platforms for international fans. It’s sitting pretty on good money.

TVING has licensed some, like The Witch’s Diner and Work Later, Drink Now, which leads me to believe it is more about genre and popularity of casts.

        0

TVING has content that could be really popular if they found a way to license it internationally. I’m surprised they don’t already have partnerships with existing platforms like Netflix. It seems like a wasted opportunity to not attract this sizeable international audience for their shows.

Even though I’ve seen the animated film, I’m still constantly surprised by the drama. I wasn’t keen on the revenge stuff at first, and I was particularly annoyed by little Hwang Kyung-min growing up to become a fiendish mastermind type. But what motivates/triggers him and Jong-seok, in the past as well as the present, is also much more developed, and fascinatingly so. And what a showcase this drama is for actors playing tortured and/or toxic males! The latest star turn is Oh MIn-seok as adult Kang Min. Just spectacular.

2521 ends this weekend😱
Feeling all sorts of emotions right now having realised this.
I can’t wait for new episodes, but I don’t want it to end. I want a happy ending, but at the same time I want drama to stay true to itself and the story it has magnificently told from the start.
It’s been a while since I’ve had these combustible emotions for this type of genre.
My ❤ won’t stop beating just thinking about it.
The excitement, the anxiety, the longing, the satisfaction, the nostalgic feeling. I’m already missing it, and it hasn’t even aired.
🥺😭 2521…

I’ve always known Nam Joo Hyuk to be handsome but not my type.
Today, he became No.1 on my list. Hmmm…that boy is fiiineee😍
He satisfied my glass fetish.
Just look at him…I just got *censored*

2521 just exceeded my expectations. To sum it up:
Mum should have done better
Yup Rim is a sore loser
Yi Jin…bless his heart
Hee Do couldn\’t have done it any better.
Ep8 will be all about feelings

6

I’m hating yu rim with such a passion right now. She is a sore loser and even when she was blabbering about family in the truck with her dad I felt it was just an excuse. She really did’nt want to lose against Hee do and thinks her medal is stolen from her. Such poor sportsmanship.

    3
    1

I never liked Yurim but she’s reached a new low this episode. She’s the most frustrating character I have seen in a while and I even watched Happiness, so that’s saying something. But at the same time, I’ll give it to the show for generating an interesting conflict between female characters that has nothing to do with love interests.

      3
      0

I get that Mum couldn’t be on her matches since she’s reporting on them but what’s with her absence even in her childhood. She has a phone but mom doesn’t check her with at all, even once. Yu rim may be poor but in everything else she’s luckier than Hee do. Fear of not reaching the financial stability you want can make you selfish and that’s where she’s headed. Hee do doesn’t have to worry about that, she only cares about her passion but has many setbacks preventing her from making it big unlike Yu rim at this point. Who also has quite reasonable parents that keep telling her she shouldn’t worry about making it big or becoming rich but I get where she’s coming from.

The inscription on Gu Young-Chun perfectly describes him. I love the subtext and the styling choice. Cheeky and satisfying to see the label fit for one of the most perplexing and unstable minds.
Another great weekend thanks to Through the Darkness. The only thing running through my mind now is how many people would be eligible for Baeksang nominations this year. A truly stellar performance from the cast.

Ghost Doctor really is a rom com between Cha Young Min and Ko Seung Tak.
Didn\’t think I would love the finale so much. It was a pleasure to watch those two together.

Friday 25th…I have been expecting you since January 25th.
The sigh of relief.
What have I been doing for the past three weeks🤔? I have literally been counting down.

In 14 days, Through the Darkness will be back on screen. I have been so bored in the past two weeks because it\’s the only thing I am watching right now.
The anxiety is no joke😫

My dream is for dramaland to announce an adaptation of manga/anime Kamisama Hajimemashita.
However, Nanami is a college student and Tomoe a nine-tailed fox, but still serving the earth or land god as a familiar.

I have already mapped out the plot structure of all 16 episodes and filled every possible plot hole (in my head).

I love that anime so much. This is my ultimate drama wish.

Is there someone I can write to to make this dream come true?

That sounds like the perfect kdrama setup, actually. Especially with how gumihos are in vogue.

I just noticed some discrepancies on Netflix.
I won\’t hide the shame: I downloaded Stove League illegally when it came out years ago🙈. I don\’t regret it; it\’s one of my favourite dramas.
However, as soon as it was available on Netflix in my country, I deleted the illegal downloads.
Now that I am watching on Netflix, I can\’t help but notice some cuts here and there. As someone who has watched the drama over 10 times, I notice these cuts.
For example, in episode 9 when Seung-Soo returns to the Dreams, the cheesy welcome song they sang for him was cut away. That was my favourite part🥺.
I don\’t know if it\’s Netflix or the production studio at fault, but this reduces viewer experience and makes you feel shortchanged, especially when you have seen a version before and loved it.
This is my first time experiencing this, so it hurts.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Copyright reasons. Anything involving a song that isn’t the OST of the show can be disrupted by copyright, because sometimes they only have the rights to use the music internationally for a set amount of time (a year or so). Sometimes they just cut the scene, other times they change the music. But if you watch something on Netflix or another service in Korea, usually the music is still there. Because of some specificity when they bought the copyright to use the music.

You’ll notice it on Viki too for some dramas. In the US if you watch something on Kocowa though, the original music is always there. I started watching Fight My Way on Viki but the music changes were so obvious, so I checked to see if the same happened on Kocowa and it didn’t. I believe it’s because Kocowa is actually owned by KBS, SBS, and MBC.

    5
    2

Oh, thanks for the clarification. The music change did take me out of it. I guess I should alternate between Kocowa and Netflix then. I like the original with the songs.
      Thank you 😊.

It’s pretty funny on Viki sometimes, if the original song has been subbed but then changed out for a different song….funny, but also a shame.

Is it too early to say I love Through the Darkness?
There is this realistic way Kim Nam Gil is playing his character that I already see things through his eyes.
I\’m intrigued already.

Shit really hit the fan in Inspector Koo episode 7.
As much as I enjoyed this episode, I can\’t get Santa\’s stalkery acts out of my head 😢. Hope he is a good guy stalker with good ulterior motives.

3

Okay I am liking Detective Koo.
I had a feeling Kyung Yi and Yi Kyung were two sides of a coin last week, and I got the confirmation within the first minute.
They both have a flare for dramatics and repressing emotions or diverting another way. Plus, they think the same way.
Kind of how someone said before that their relationship felt like a sherlock Holmes and Jim Moriaty pair.
However, Yi Kyung has the upper hand for now because she knows Kyung Yi, which is where she gets it wrong.
Acting first in a situation like this makes it easier for Kyung Yi to spot her.
She should have been more patient before acting. And this is where Kyung Yi has the upper hand.
I\’m thinking her husband\’s case would have thought her how to view things wider than her current landscape.
But the cat and mouse sure was fun to watch.
P.S. The setting and design 😍

I guess the new Kang Mina got a face plant and is the new secretary of her sister-in-law.
Obvious move but still entertaining.

Oh, is she? I never thought it that way or I missed that. I noticed that she may be important later on based on some scenes, but I never thought she’d be Kang Mina herself.

Just a theory, but based on the the camera shots and her expressions, it feels like her.
But one thing for sure, she is not on Hang Sung-Hye’s side.
