Sighhhh, Kim Mi So. You’re not going to quit after all? Not even to take a small break, to travel or study or something! So frustrating to have spent 14 hours on wondering what’s wrong with secretary Kim…only to realise nothing’s wrong with her. She is flawless. Perfect. 👏😒

Thank you to the wonderful secondary characters who are full of energy and perfect comedic timing. I’m glad to like at least parts of this show… if not the whole thing. ‘Tis a pity when actors you love end up starring in a mediocre drama with very little plot.

Ouch. That perfectly captures some of my issues with the show. Well. The mandatory forced separation trope – which usually makes an appearance at the end of a romance drama – may yet intervene to allow Mi So some time to herself.

I feel bad (actually no, I don’t) but I certainly feel guilty posting about it because many Beanies seem to be enjoying. But I gotta get it out of my chest. The thing is, I actually enjoyed the first few episodes a lot! So it’s hard to accept that a show with so much potential and A+ casting can let me down this badly.
And the main leads… sighhh I wanted to love their characters (I did in the start but not anymore). They are too perfect, no flaws at all… they make me cringe instead of swoon. *don’t hate me WWWSK fans* *ducks to avoid all the eggs and tomatoes*

Yeah that’ll be it in the form of Mi So’s dad! “I oppose to this marriage.” Le sighhhhh. There’ll be tears and separation and angst.

Just give me enough office shenanigans Show and I’ll leave you be!

        I posted about it too:

Without feeling bad or guilty. ^^; Hahaha

Basically, yes. It seems Kdrama writers think having a trauma is the flaw, so the characters can be perfect otherwise. But it’s really not. :/ They’re doing their best in life – there is no flaw in these people. Add all the chaebol business and they’re untouchable.

Also, I think the show is relying too heavily on the actors. Plot, wrting, character development (they were already perfect! we just didn’t know how, at first), directing, soundtrack – all of it falls flat. So after a couple of eps, even though the actors are great, I’ve seen how they interpret the character. Now I need more!

Ok! Yeah, I saw that haha. And I agree. They are relying solely on the actors to carry the show. Too bad… the ratings dropped too! I guess K-netizens lost interest as well.

That is so true! Having a flaw and a trauma are two different things! I was fine with the synopsis of Young Joon being a narcissistic… but I was hoping that he would grow out of it or admit that everything doesn’t resolve around him. It was cute and funny for a bit. Now it’s too much.
They are literally just walking around the office or going out to lunch. *snoressss* There is no story!!!

Hahahahaha – Ikr. And also, they seem to have a lot of spare time for the Chairman/CEO and his secretaries. I’d love to be this free. XD

SAME! I was so excited when it started, and then it suddenly went downhill without brakes…
I’m sure it has to do with the change of writers, but then again, we’ll never know!
I wish we’d get less main characters, more side characters since those are the ones I’m loving. Agree on the cringe!! The cringe factor is eternal with these two…I decided to focus on my knitting when they’re on my screen and pay attention whenever anyone else is back on lol

*hugsss* Thank you chingu! I’m so glad I’m not the only one feeling this about the show. I didn’t kmow about the writer change! That could’ve been the reason then…
LOL SAME! I watch with one eye on the screen..not even bothering to read the subs and use the other eye to fold my clothes hahaha.
But I truly am enjoying the side characters. They are such a lively bunch. I love the Coke couple and the I-love-to-work guy… I could see the potential pairing between him and Ji ah (I think that’s her name? The other secretary).

I found out about the writer change literally seconds after I asked if there had been a writer change or something on ep 5, since it felt entirely different!
Same about the side characters…the hero-background music they use for the driver is hilarious! I’m also super invested in Chansung and (maybe?) Ji-ah…I like the moony eyes they make each other <3 I'll be even more disappointed if they don't take advantage of these 2 couples' chemistry and give us something good!

I don’t think Kim Mi So is flawless, but rather has a flawless facade, and she had gotten so used to the facade that she doesn’t know how to be herself anymore. I think if the show at least shows her acting relaxed around Young Joon, and not being afraid about showing him her flaws even if he is naturally perfect (since he is naturally narcissistic), then I will be satisfied.

Anyways I just want them to be married in the end, and for her to start acting like his girlfriend/wife, and to be relaxed instead of reserved. Because up until now, I don’t feel that she is completely relaxed with Young Joon, but rather reserved and even sometimes nervous – even though they have already consummated their relationship. What I feel from her is someone who is still overwhelmed by everything that is happening to her, and it seems that she has still not digested that she really is his girlfriend (and what that means), and that he wants to marry her.

So far I am really enjoying this show, but I hope that these issues will get resolved satisfactorily. Oh and most importantly, I really hope that they will not part for any reason! I really dislike this cliche k-drama separation of the couple towards the end, and I give major props to this drama for avoiding that till now. I hope it keeps it up!

Yes to the relaxed bit…I mean, they have sex and the first thing she calls him the following morning is ‘director’?

Agree with this as well! It seems like she still is in secretary mode a lot, and still isn’t honest with her feelings – both to herself and to him. Possibly realistic reaction for someone who is new to relationships, but frustrating because the show’s focus certainly is not to explore the dynamic of Sec. Kim’s unusual position as secretary turned girlfriend… Show is already moving as if the romance is set in stone. That’s what’s lost me the past few episodes, it feels like the director has lost their hold on what tone they are going for – the com in romcom? Melodrama? Realistic portrayal of common relationship hurdles exacerbated by the fact that one person in this relationship is the other’s chaebol boss? Romance? While the first few episodes felt like they were being driven by the characters, now it feels like the characters are being herded from scene to scene as plot devices in service of hitting the necessary emotional high points.

Ok, that critique may be a bit too harsh. The last episode wasn’t quite as bad as the previous one, but… *Sigh* It’s just so sad to see the potential of a drama go down the tubes like that. For anyone who’s read the webtoon, is the show still adhering closely to the source material? I’ve heard yes, in which case it may not be a problem with the show’s production, but with the writer of the webtoon and what they think is romantic vs my (Western influenced) expectations… As in, giving up a possibly brighter future to serve as secretary even if it is for the guy you love is NOT romantic. But who knows, maybe the next episode will surprise me.

I agree 100% with that! It’s like they’re trying to force the leads to stay together forever because their love is unconditional and they could never be apart. NOT ROMANTIC.

I was holding my breath right before her reveal because I had a feeling it was going in that direction, but reaaaally hoping it wasn’t. When she was like, “I’m not leaving!” I just rolled my eyes and threw my hands in the air. Come on, girl, you know if you went and got yourself a degree or two you could be running this show!

I thought that she would’ve wanted to go study, since she had to give up going to college and started working at a young age. The conversation between her father and Young Joom seemed to hint this too. That Mi So should take time off from work and pursue her interests or go to college.
I get it’s hard to go back to studying after having worked for so long… but she didn’t even think about what she could do. And you’re right..she has so much potential to take on a department herself as a manager if she still wanted to work in the company.
The show is trying to make her stay as a secretary because of their immeasurable LOVE with each other. I don’t buy it.
