Ah, there are a lot of ways in which Go dong Mae breaks my heart but I think the scene where he talks to Ae Shin’s parents’ memorial is tops thus far. In a lot of ways he has the least hope, he can’t really be her friend like Hui Seung or her lover like Eugene, and the scar he gave as a hurt kid is still there with her. But in this scene with Ae Shin’s parents you really see him wear his heart on his sleeve and admit his mistakes and his care and longing for her and it’s a very touching moment. The way the show is longing out this two-week wait for his meeting with her is leaving me antsy and making me think that’s not going to happen. I’m very curious about what he wants from her. Probably just a little bit of her time. But I don’t think it’s going to happen. I think what I would really like for Dong Mae is some of Ae Shin’s understanding (even if it takes a while—Dong Mae can be quite rude). I think she is a fair person, so I feel she would give it as long as he was willing to open up a bit. All the guys are quite similar; I think she would recognize that he also has similar experiences to Eugene although he didn’t make it to adulthood in quite the same disciplined and mannerly way.
