Hey beanies!

Sorry, this is a non-drama-related question.

Context: I sent a very long message to my classmate whom I liked at uni. I thanked him for all his help and advice. I may have implicitly told him that I liked him. He replied to my message telling me that it was alright and I just need to be strong in life, etc. So basically, the tone of his reply was very “we’re just friends, nothing more”. So in short, I got rejected. Which is really fine by me. I didn’t want to be in a relationship with him. I just liked him because he was very cute.

Now, it seemed that we’re avoiding each other like plague. We didn’t even greet each other in class today. I’ve thought about giving him space, but I dont know if this is right. Cause honestly, I was waiting for him to talk to me. I mean, I was the one who got rejected 😅 Do you guys know what I should do about this? Would greatly appreciate your comments! 😁

I don’t understand why you let him know you like him when you didn’t want to be in a relationship with him?😅😅 Sorry this is not helpful at all 😅😅

I was thanking him for his advice! 😅 but when I showed my guy bestfriend the message after I sent it, he said it was written implicitly that i liked him.😅

Just act normal. Are you sure you were rejected? Or are you assuming? If you don’t like him or don’t want to be in a relationship with him, I suppose rejection would not affect you as much….so I suggest act normal, talk to him normally. If he still avoids you, his loss then, you have tried.

When you say “act normal”, like approach him first like I normally would?

Yep. Act like you normally would. You shouldn’t be so affected by his ‘rejection’. That is if you really just like him as a friend and no more than that 😅

Cause during class today, it seemed he wanted to talk to me, but I avoided his gaze and just looked down 😅

I don’t know if this would be helpful information but I usually ignore/ feel awkward around the guys who tell me they like me not because I want to stop being friends with them but because I don’t want to bring up their hopes that I like them and make them misunderstand my actions. Just give it a few days and if you guys are still awkward, confront him and tell him that you’d still like to be friends and tell him you aren’t really looking for a relationship. ^^

Oooooo I feel this on so many levels. Like so many people said – act normally!! The thing is everything you’ve said so far seems like an assumption made on your part. Everything was done implicitly, so it’s very likely he didn’t think it was a confession or he didn’t reject you at all. Plus you said he tried to talk to you and you looked down. Often times when we have feelings we are sure are not going to be returned, we become extra cautious. We’re scared everything we say may sound like a confession but that’s not always true!!!

Honestly even if your long paragraph did sound like a lowkey confession, it wasn’t a proper one. And his wasn’t a proper rejection. So you guys don’t have any actual grounds to act awks around each other because nothing *technically* happened.

    [UPDATE]

We’re friends now! Not awkward anymore 😂 I acted normally, greeted him and even gave him chocolate (cause the poor guy looked hungry 😂)

Thank you everyone for providing your insights! You are all lovely people 😘❤
