Loveholic’s Jisun returns solo

Modern-rock band Loveholic parted ways with its singer, Jisun, back in 2007, to allow her the freedom to pursue solo work. In the intervening time, we haven’t heard much about the solo stuff, although she has done some collaborations with other artists (such as singing on Epik High‘s fifth-album track “One”). But now, the singer (and songwriter) has finally announced official plans for her comeback.

A management company representative said on the 14th that Jisun’s debut solo album will go on sale on February 3. The style of music shouldn’t be a drastic change, as it still falls into the general rock style of her previous work with Loveholic.

Meanwhile, she remains on good terms with her former groupmates Kang Hyun-min and Lee Jae-hak, who altered the band name to “Loveholics” after her departure.

Sigh... i actually prefer her to stick with Loveholic. I just love that band.
Loveholic would be very different without her voice. I just hope that her music style doesn't change much and still have that mellow feel.

Still pisses me off about missing Loveholic last year at the Gardena festival. Literally like a week before they break up.

I read that Jisun left Loveholic, because she was getting married and starting a family. (i.e. When performing with Epik High last summer, she was still carrying.) And apparently, they're mostly living here now (Los Angeles.)

Here's a recent tune from My Aunt Mary "Goodbye Day", featuring Jisun.

The "Loveholics" was likely just a one-off between the remaining members and the other Fluxus artists. They're still in search of a singer and new identity.

whatever you heard is incorrect. Ji Sun didn't get married nor did she get pregnant. She's still happily single, I know because her agency is closely tied to our parent company.

The fact is that Loveholic's strength was their songwriting, which was mostly done by the other two members. As talented as Jisun is, I doubt her solo stuff will be as good... Best of luck to her. That combination of great vocals and stage presence with catchy great songs is hard to top. They could've put out at least 2 or 3 more solid CDs. Every one of their albums have some of THE best songs ever written IMO.

Wait, what? Did Jisun get married and have a child somehow when I wasn't paying attention? Huh??

Haha, yeah I know, that one caught me offguard. I have my doubts whether it's actually true. Basically the "story" goes that she was getting married and wanted to settle down. The decision to leave the band was mutual and amicable; it wasn't about artistic control, ego, or anything like that. She'll continue making music (this solo album is with Nell's producer?), but in a much lower profile. The bit that really surprised me is that she's living in SoCal. I was like "huh? I might actually see her at a gig? Would she be wearing purple?"

"They could’ve put out at least 2 or 3 more solid CDs"

I always felt Loveholic's strength was that, not only they had two songwriters, they had essentially two producers. Their debut had slight Rollercoaster influences. Their 2nd record was their Do As Infinity record. Their 3rd record was their Cardigans record. I think my favorite one would be their covers record; I knew some of the original songs, and I loved their arrangements.

Kang Hyun-min and his old band The Weather Report was featured pretty strongly on the J-drama Tokyo Wankei. Two of the songs were later redone by Loveholic.

I really wish the best for Jisun...but I don't think her songs will be as nearly as good as Loveholic. And I just realized that all my favorite bands are in Fluxus records

Syliva <---best song ever and my name :D

yay i'd been wondering how her solo gig was progressing along, looking forward to the release. say what? she started a fam and had a child...o.O?

even though it's sad Jisun decided to part with them but i'm def glad Kang Hyun-min and Lee Jae-hak chose to continue as Loveholics, they're an excellent music duo.

I am really curious,
is Loveholic actually quite popular in Korea’s music scene,..or so underrated that they’re not that popular?
can somebody (especially Koreans) please give me answer on this one?

I do sincerely hope it’s the former one!
because here I am, a non-Korean (i’m an indonesian-chinese living in Jakarta, capital city of Indonesia), 27-year old guy, working, yet after my brother introduced me to this magical group about 2 years ago (he also knew Loveholic from his non-Korean friend), I still NEVER, I repeat, NEVER got bored or tired listening to their music/songs!

now this is what I’d call REAL talent!
not just some manufactured idol with bland, boring-commercial tunes.

in fact, some of their songs, can really leaves me with such very strong emotions, and thousand of feelings.
for example, my favorite song of them, “Sylvia” , the melody especially the chorus part -although I don’t understand the language- is just so hauntingly-beautiful, that it always, always makes me shiver & got ‘goose-bumps’ !

not only that,
but knowing, and listening Loveholic has really inspired me to really want to start forming a band here in Indonesia, that hopefully would be able to touch a lot of hearts with a genuine, heartfelt music, like they do!

basically, I am just so thankful that I’ve got to know this band (thanks to this global & internet era too!), even though they’re probably not that “mainstream”.
Loveholic has seriously made some of the most beautiful music I’ve ever known in my life.
