So I've come to the conclusion that I like Kim tae hee I didn't at first because the first role I saw her in was in Iris. I don't think that role suited her BUT this new role is perfect for her.

As for Athena. I'm sad that the relationship between jae hee and son hyuk is at a halt Really!? I want something between them SO bad. I'm sad that son hyuk is that evil that evil right now but hey I can still hope that they'll somehow be together. I doubt it but I really like to hang onto that small chance.

I really want db to continue to recap paradise ranch. Or even a guest recapper, cause she and gf are busy with MP and DH. :( I don't even know if the show'll be good. I just love the recaps on this site. But I'm assuming she was just doing a first episode post only. I'm sad.

For light and fluffy romance, I can recommend "Waiting for Mr. Destiny". Several of us manage to watch a limited run of the movie, at AMC Cupertino. We had a great time with it.

Every single character, with dialog, was a cameo by a well-known actor. So, naturally, we were a bunch of laughing and squealing ahjummas. Gong Yoo was both hilariously nerdy and hot smexy in it.

The only downside was the visual quality of the subtitles. They always use the skinniest and lightest font, which makes the subs hard to read.

Otherwise, a very enjoyable movie.

Anyone watched a King's Speech? A great movie for Colin Firth to put his best performance forward.

Random music pick for the day:

Maria Gadú ~ Ne Me Quitte Pas (If You Go Away)

http://www.mediafire.com/?q7eq55lu366lnq9#1

Surely some of you recognize this Latin Grammy winner. I play her Multishow Ao Vivo dvd every chance I have my laptop or tv to me-self w/o my nieces hogging for attention.

Enjoy JB, GF, and fellow dbeaners.

Also, it has Colin Firth.

So yeah, it's definitely on my To Watch List, but good to read you enjoyed it.

What a tiring week or rather two weeks!..If this is a precedent to the coming weeks of the semester I dont know If I'll be alive by the end of it..the only thing that I can look forward to are dramas which looks like there will be a cutdown off :(.....i really wish something could be done about the number of hours in a day...that said i'm thoroughly enjoying My Princess and hope it continues to get better rather than being my first casuality of 2011...i'm totally surprised by SSH who I think should stick to rom-coms from now on....also the problem with the upcoming dramas of 2011 is that while the cast of most of them look decent or good the descriptions dont really look like my thing...the only one that I am genuinely looking foreard to is What's Up which doesnt even have a broadcaster yet....also my interest in Midas got bumped up by the addition of Kim Sung Ok aka the adorable Secretary Kim from SG and Jung Suk Won aka Sang Bong from Dr Champ

Ah! Almost forgot it was Friday aka Dramabeans OT day!

Just wanted to share with the Jang Geun-Seok and Kim Jae-wook fans that both men are embarking on their musical careers! KJW's band Walrus just released a 3 track EP, and JGS is supposed to release an album in a month or two - he's working with the dude who produced the OST for MSOAN.

KJW's band stuff isn't bad - and he sings decent enough for a rock band. As for JGS, I only want more indie stuff a la "My Precious". Any cheesy pop songs and he's off my k-hottie list.

I have mixed feelings about it too. I've always wondered about his penchant for musical roles - music seems to be a passion of his, and he does have talent. i think he'd be better as part of band though, as opposed to a solo artist. and i feel like there are probably some amazing scripts just waiting for him to say yes to. i would complain, but he's young - he has time to try the music thing and come back to acting if that's what he really wants.

KJW's band Walrus I thought was decent. I just listened to some of their new stuff on allkpop. I liked it. He probably would have been better suited to the indie rocker role in MSOAN, cause that's basically what he is in real life. Though that might be why it was more fun for him to play a chaebol. Who knows.

Currently watching Will it Snow for Christmas? and every moment Song Joong Ki is on screen is remarkable.
Give that boy a LEAD in a Show!

Go Soo as Cha Kang Jin is the perfect man.
I want him. I love him. I need him.
with allllll myyy heart.

He officially replaced Park Shin Yang as Han Ki-joo from Lovers in Paris, as the character I would marry if I could transcend time, reality, langauage issues, and continents.

OH MAN! I watched the first 2 of Will it snow as they've uploaded the episodes on Dramacrazy.. I had been meaning to watch it after reading the recaps and I desperately wanted to see how good an actor kim soo hyun was, and yeh, he's pretty good. I love the first few episodes when they're young the most.. after that, despite the good acting of the older cast, i missed the younger cast. wish they'd shown more of them- though of them doing what, i don't know.
i do love go soo though, he's wonderful.. and cha kang jin as a character is perfect (with hints of overriding righteousness if you get what i mean).
i know! song joong ki seriously is the perennial cutie, even in this role! it's his face- gosh, i do so love him.

I agree on the younger cast. They should have written more flashbacks for them. They were compelling apart but amazing together.

I finished WISFC, and I couldn't help but notice there was
NO MENTION OF EITHER CHRISTMAS OR SNOW.
I kept waiting, though, in vain, it turns out.

When I finished, I played the song Go Soo sang to his mother over the phone and cried for about 45 minutes.

This couple gets my vote for the OTP who suffered with the most dignity in order to be together, and deserved their happiness.
(I am not counting Goong, because so much of that suffering was self-induced.)
((I'm not counting BOF because it just got ridiculous. I wouldn't have been surprised if a mad herd of escaped rhinos stampeded through Seoul knocking JanDi down on the way to donate plasma for JunPyo's newly diagnosed rare and fatal blood disease.))

TGIF Peeps!

I like how Paradise Ranch offers some resonance to Coffee Prince with all the frustrations, pain, and jealousy betwn fated lovers. Surely the writer of CP hasn't lost his touch, and resurrect what heartaches came from CP glisten onto PR, why I say glisten, may I ask why the cameraman use many day shots where the sunburst shadows their actors? Is it his thing?

The question remains how these characters of PR can withstand all the criticism being compared to those in the same genre as CP. It's inevitable to demand any actor to lose oneself in his/her role, it's called passion, so actors do what they do best and apply their masks for a showdown. I think few actors need to do much more research into their parts, and not depend on happy-go-lucky streaks. God bless 'em.

I'm sticking onto PR 'cos it reminds of CP.

Well, if I see it your way then I recognize the confusion. If you broaden it a bit, don't alienate their shows based on gender facade, rather on each character's personalities and social status, then the same formula betwn the two shows are there.

One show's platform based on misguiding sexual orientation to stir drama vs. one show's platform based on misguiding divorce reason(s) to stir such similarities, and that's how miscommunication cause so much pain in any relationship folks.

it's open thread day again?! woot woot... but sadly i was kinda slacking off my kdrama watching duties this week hahaha. all because of the american series returns. T_T anyway... i was still able to finish Will It Snow For Christmas this week... yayy! I then moved on with YoonA's You're my destiny... and watched this week's Dream High which is making me nervous... hahaha.

Will it snow for christmas is like the epitome of my WANT TO WATCH DRAMA. hehe. it's light... kinda cheesy... little angst (well compared to Cinderella Unni and KSW's Bad Love... i was mad all the time! deym.) and the loveline antagonists were moderately bad hahaha. I like the fact that by the end of the show I didn't hate anybody... I think this is the first time for a melodrama... hahaha. (is it? hmmn.) anyways... all in all... i want to rewatch it especially SooHyun oppa's parts hahaha... its my kind of thing... it has a good conflict and it was solved the most right and human way... not the way of scheming someone to be killed. hahaha. though i wasn't fully satisfied with the ending since it wasn't a close up... rawr... i think that it was the writer's way of making us feel to want more of WISFC... which is dumb since it is already done... but if it is what that long shot meant... it really made me want to know more... hahaha. its like there is still something to be discussed or something to be explained fully. but what the heck.. i love it... the entire thing! :)

You're my destiny... it's my second time to watch its first couple of episodes since the last time... i lost my source to watch it so now im back with a faster internet connection and i can download its episodes... yayy! but like last time... i can still say... YoonA make an awesome job with this one... yayy! im still on episode 5 so I hope that it will continue and the story is getting exciting to my liking... hahaha. love it! :)

and my dearest DREAM HIGH... the duet by hyemi and samdong was awesome but where is my jinguk and hyemi?! rawr. please SHOW... give me some hyemi-jinguk love next episode since you ruined my week and pre-empted my episode 8... darn. but based on the preview... i feel im going to be ripped off by you SHOW! you and your scheming for a conflict... hahaha. i love conflict so that it will spice up the drama but what about my jinguk-hyemi loveline? just please atleast give me the assurance that they'll end up together. haha. please? anyway... im looking forward for monday's episode and i guess also tuesday's because of IU and her diet success story hahaha. love it! :))

I've read every single post here, and not one, not one single one talks about GRANDPA. I said in an earlier post that GRANDPA HAS FEELINGS!!!!! Grandpa's reading this thread too! How's he gonna feel knowing HE WAS LEFT OUT ON OPEN THREAD?????? He was forgotten, discarded, cast aside.....like an old tube of toothpaste that has been squeezed to the max and chucked away.....oh, my heart is breaking! It bleeds for my oppa Grandpa..... brave, feisty, beautiful man.

I even proposed forming a I LOVE OPPA GRANDPA fan club....the response? Zilt.

I.AM.SO.DISAPPOINTED.

I spoke to the rabbits in the forest (lots of rabbit conventions these days cos Rabbit Year is around the corner) and they tell me that the skunks told them that they are really mad with IZZIE (yes, the wicked one) cos she likened Grandpa to a skunk!

Izzie, if you're out there, beware the revenge of the skunk. If you're sleeping and you run into a skunk in your dream ,get the hell out fast! These skunks....they have the power to infiltrate dreams....did you watch Incepskunk? Scary....

Anyway in Incepskunk, this skunk went around incepskunking, which means infiltrating humans' minds while they slept. Why? Cos skunk was so bored out of his mind doing skunk stuff in the forest like...um...um....what do skunks do anyway????....ok skip that; that's not important.

So one day this young guy went to the forest and told the skunk to do a job for him on his father, this rich stingy guy. In return, he'd pay him more money than a skunk could ever dream of. So this skunk went inside the rich guy's head and spoke to him in skunk lingo:
SKKUUU....SKIUUU....SKOOO...SPEEDO .... which means, in English, DO AS I SAY.

So when the rich guy woke up, he did everything the skunk said to do. He changed his will and made his no-good son his heir. But then after two days, he called the cops and the cops came and arrested the son for illegal entry of the mind, and carted the son off to jail.

So why did the incepskunk fail? Cos that skunk was so dumb he forgot the most important thing of all. He forgot to say, just before he said bye bye to the rich guy, three words: SKISS. SKOW. SKOGET. which means, in simple English: This. Now. Forget.

So how does the skunk know he's in/out of the rich guy's dreams? What is his totem? Spinning a small vile of perfume? Pepé Le Pew needs to live the easy life: eat, sleep, mate, poop, and spray.

I'd watch this in action even if it went in crunchyroll.com.

Grandpa is too old to be loved. He's already been married and has had a child. His first marriage produced a child that he hated so much. Do you think he is willing to get remarried? This sad poem is dedicated to my beloved oppa, Grandpa.....

The Sad Tale Of Grandpa Oppa

Grandpa's story will make you wail
It really is such a sorry tale
Listening to it may turn you pale
So get ready your soju or your ale

There once lived a beautiful man
Grandpa oppa was his name
No matter what he did to spread his fame
Grandpa only by that name he remained.

He tried to be the hero in the Mary show
But they just said come back tomorrow
So he went to the doctor and got a new jaw
"This way'" he swore, "they won't reject me no more!"

So Grandpa and his new jaw went to My Princess show
The PD said “You’re good, Grandpa! Come back tomorrow!”
That’s how Grandpa became the Wicked Old Fellow
Who shouts and screams till his eyeballs turn yellow

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see
Maybe Grandpa one day a hero he’ll be
When he kisses the girl, pretty as can be
In the rain, on a bus or under a tree

I’m hoping for more good stuff from Grandpa the hero
Grandpa stripping down to a black slinky speedo
Grandpa with six packs taking a sizzling hot shower
Grandpa sharing his dentures with a sexy rich widow

EXACTLY, asianstalker! That's why I call it...ahem... the SAD tale of Grandpa oppa....

0

Seol's mom is not seeing anyone right now, so if Seol does run off with the Professor then there's nothing to stop mom.

0

Although, are you sure he has time to be enjoying sexytime with a widow? YJ seems to have used a voodoo witch curse which is going to take effect any minute now.

0

I vote the grandma from Shining Inheritance. She's such a sweet person. She will take care of Grandpa well. Besides it's similar cases in Shining Inheritance and My Princess. The guy thinks that the girl is taking his inheritance away.

0

I was thinking Sam Shik's grandma. Maybe that way the old sourpuss will finally realise what the love of a good man can do for you and let Samsoon get married. Hope grandpa is into beatings though.

0

OMG! YY! I have never laughed so hard on any sad tale for anyone at all before this! hahahaha!

YY, you are pure genius! Izzie is as crazy and as brilliant as you are! You two should join forces and come up with your own kdrama or anime maybe.

Are you korean, if I may ask? What's your nationality?

And I'm so dazed now from all the grandpa craze :-) If he reads this thread, he might get a heart attack from all the pure love and adoration coming his way. :-)

0

Sorry, YY, I just threw up in my mouth picturing any girl kissing Grampa in a speedo.

0

Samgetang, I am not Korean. I am beyond race. And age. Cos I am so Pure.

(pssst....I'm Chinese he he)

0

@YY: chinese from mainland or HK or Taiwan or Singapore? hehe...

by the way, you should add Jomo to your team....she's the door lean expert, haha!

@theasianstalker: grandma from shining inheritance! wow! perfect combination! yes, the lead males sure have the same paranoia :-) or rather same fate, since they are not imagining things..they are really being stripped off their inheritances...down to their bare butts, in HY's case :-)

0

Samgetang, this is the history of my life.

I was once an earthly Malaysian Chinese. My forefathers migrated from China to escape the Great Bubonic Plague which had killed thousands in China and sailed in junkboats and braved stormy seas and ferocious pirates to reach Old Malaya, now called Malaysia. This is next to Singapore by the way. I am 3rd generation Chinese who studied in a convent school and was raised on mills and books, romances and English and American classics.

But all this is no longer important. For I am beyond race and boundaries now. I am like Obama. Cos I am Pure. I am everywhere and nowhere. I am everything and nothing. I no longer think of showers or towels. I no longer think of six packs or long lashes. I ONLY THINK PURE THOUGHTS. I REPEAT I ONLY THINK PURE THOUGHTS.

0

YY the Pure:

You are all heavenly, extremely lovely and perfectly true. I am in awe. I am amazed. You are nothing but Pure.

Your lineage is unblemished. Your heritage is secure. I am in awe. I am amazed. You are nothing but Pure.

You are beyond this. You are beyond that. You are within us and all around us. I am in awe. I am amazed. You are nothing but Pure.

But if you dont want us to overdose on izzie's own brand of sanity pills please, please, please... come down from that high mountain, stop that floating, and get back to all the towels that need washing and all the eyelashes that need grooming! :-)

0

Samgetang, talking about lineage, I have a strong suspicion that I could be a princess too!!!!! OMO!!!!! I think my great great great grandfather is the Last Emperor of China Pu Yi! They made a movie about him but it was nasty....*gives evil eye* I told my mum and dad about my suspicions but they stared at me as though I was loony. Ok, Pu Yi's Chinese....I'm Chinese. Pu Yi's from China, my ancestors also came from China. See the link?

I'm gathering evidence now....the moment I have it, I'm gonna call a press conference. Unlike SOME people, I shall call only ONE press conference.

I'll keep you informed. The moment I become princess, you can come stay in my palace. Heck, you can come LIVE in it for all I care!

0

YY if what you say is true
and you are the real princess...
then tremble in fear
for all your posts and comments here
will be traced back to you...
must ask diplomat HY to help you
take down all those posts
before you
make it fast
make it soon
or you'll end up
like Seol
a goat with mouthful
of crumpled notes...
hurry, hurry
pali, pali :-)

0

Hello??? I am Pure now. I am like the morning dew. I think pure thoughts. Pure practically pours out of every pore of my body. I fear no one. All my posts henceforth will be purely pure. I will write on sublime issues. Like world peace. No more hot showers. No more speedos. My only demon is Grandpa. I am wresting with that problem. But I believe my pureness will prevail.....
* smiles dazzlingly as invisible heavenly choir bursts into song*

0

WONDERFUL WONDERFUL WONDERFUL!! i LOVE that he went into JYPE to train for this drama, because he has got an AH!MAY!ZING! voice. if i'm on the SamDong ship, does it mean I have SLS? or is he 1st lead? i haven't really been able to tell.. heck, just let Gookie and SamDong strip eachother of their clothes and i'll be happy. that seems much more watchable than either of them w/ HyeMi anyway. LOL.

update on me: 35 weeks along.. another 5 weeks (maybe) to go. been on bed rest for the last 3 weeks because Baby E is eager to see the world and be a part of its craziness. hopefully he'll remain warm and cuddly inside for at least another 2 weeks. but he's a swimmer. i don't know how he's able to do all those backstrokes, breaststrokes, froggy paddles and whatever, but my ribs and bladder are sure taking a beating! LOL.

btw.. Baby E will either be Evan, Ezekeil, or Ekin. still haven't finalized the decision yet.

I just watched the movie PETTY ROMANCE
with the VOICE and the ever adorable Choi Kang Hee.

It is one of the most HILARIOUS movies I've ever seen!!!

Below is the link to the 1st part (sorry, no subs):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlzYo7qO0hw

There are a few scenes where I couldn't help but laugh out loud...if you've ever read a cheesy romance novel, you'll love the scene where choi kang hee's character describes her perfect fantasy.

A mirror reflection of When Harry Met Sally. It did have its moments; I couldn't resist some laughs as well.

I didn't understand a lot of it not knowing Korean but I still liked it. Sooo much better than Oki's movie which I could understand but couldn't watch because it was so boring.

Kender:
Have you seen NToG's episode 3 yet?
Saran's classical dance scenes are mesmerising, Rararara is kind of endearing inspite of her princess complex, the characters continue to be given more depth, I <3 Grandpa! Also liking Saran's dad, we're finally introduced to the Byeonkak Gisaeng troupe during their Engrish lesson. But, but, but... Damo is stealing the show!
Not because of the choco abs (rawr!) but I love his sense of humour. Haha! ''Your grandma! Who else?'' Aah, never gets old.

I hope you don't really <3 a Grandpa like YY does. By the way I never thought I could come here and read the words "Grandpa stripping down to a black slinky speedo" Thanks. I'll write that down and post in on my fridge. I'm going to lose so much weight in time for swim season.

Now then. This post should have more Gisaeng and less Grandpa, y'know. Now then, hot or not meter time. Yes, lead actor is hot. I can say that after verification of his age: still ok in my book. I have a strict rule of people having to be older than me. So vain. I mean there's a handful of guys that are close to my age and I feel wrong for liking them. I'm soo old. Back to the show. I enjoyed that running after perp scene way too much. That one guy fell on the bowling alley.. that probably hurt. He took one in the name of acting.

Lets not kid ourselves, I'm sure we know who the breakout star is, and he is mighty hungry: http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/mintrainphotobucket/gisaeng1.jpg

Oh, I will watch episode 1 of Scream High. I never turn down a bet. (*Strong sense of justice sparkling all around*)

I just can't... be a cougar. Choi Jin Hyuk, you are so lucky you're not on the stalking list. Unless you lied about your birthday. Which is possible considering that hair line of yours. Unfortunate.

As a bro you have some responsibilities. Making sure your man is not dressed like he's ready to go to flash dance lessons is one of them. Now will him (with your mind) into some new clothes before he gets the Hyuk-ki sweater curse. (I haven't watched episode 2 or 3 yet but I'm dreading the worst.)

0

*butts in* Nonononononooooooo. She doesn't will him into new clothes, she wills him OUT of his current ones and brainwashes him into never putting on any other clothes ever again. That's the real solution.

Also, I love you for the B2ST reference. That's a song that my brain just WILL NOT LET GO OF. (Ending with a preposition, ergh. I will let it go, I will let it go.. *twitch*)

I was too busy this morning to watch it right after it aired, but I managed to watch it a couple of hours ago. :D

I loooooooooove Grandpa! I was rolling all over the place when they were teaching him that game, he was so cute! And it looks like such a fun game haha.

And YES YES YES. I'm officially in love with Damo. Singing for his grandmother and mother in the car, putting down that girl at the pool in such a witty way.. I love him, I need MOAR MOAR MOAR. (And it's possible that I'm the only person around who finds his permanently bent pinky adorable, but I so don't care. ♥)

It looks like tomorrow he and Saran get to spend some time with each other, which is good. I want them to actually fall in lurve rather than just be mutually infatuated. The infatuation (and resulting fantasizing) is super cute, but I want my heart to hurt for their sakes.

Speaking of Saran, I hope we get to see a lot more classical dance from her and her friends. After all, aren't they ALL dance majors? Can they do classical dances of PAIN and DESPAIR? Damo can do showers of despair, they can dance! It's perfect! Want want want.

And I have a theory about the Three Moms Problem. I think the cook is Saran's mother, and that's Saran's the illegitimate daughter of one Grandpa's sons (I'm thinking it's the younger one), which would make her either Rarararara's cousin or sister. (How makjanggggggg~) Cook Lady probably gave her baby up to the family, and then Saran was given away without Cook Lady's knowledge around the time Rara was born, which would be why Cook Lady thinks Rara's her daughter. Which means Saran was adopted, which also explains why she doesn't look like either of her parents (as she said) and why she looked like Rara's grandmother when she was young. /speculating :D

Lawl, the Engrish lesson. I groaned when I saw the token whitey, then about died/cried/imploded when I saw him teaching in his fobby Korean. So awful. XDD

Kinda random, but I wandered onto the official site today and clicked on Sung Hoon's gallery/forum thing. It's hilarious how many of the posts are just "WHO IS THIS GUY??" and "Ohhhhh so good-looking.."

You're SO my kinda girl, the cuteness gets old, quick!
I am a bit of a masochist, I like melodrama but the melancholy, simplistic kind of fare what classics are made of not standard makjang angst. (Gisaeng has all the signs!)
Don't worry, this writer is apparently known for melodrama and judging by the feel of the trailers and the general subdued tone this will totally bring the despair! ::ang::

I am almost nosebleeding at your Three Mothers theory -- that be so crayzeh! All I can think right now is head cook must be Saran's real mother. Which will be awkward when saran becomes full-fledged gisaeng.
Do you think head cook was formerly a gisaeng too or something? And somehow Grandpa's interest was piqued when he heard Saran's name, so he ties in with all this. Awesome.
I would reaally, really some sort of flashback where we see all the older generation in their younger days to see how they all connect together, their backstory seems intriguing. Something that will explain why Saran and Damo are fated to be together.

So, like.... Moar! Moar!

I didn't even pay his bent pinky much attention, was too distracted by a certain actress's plastic nose! Aaargh! Why, Kender?

So now he knows she lives in squalor and is kind of upset about it. Typical poor girl-rich guy scenario but their inner conflicts are still understandable and handled sensitively. OK, awkwardly.
Awww! Saran! :(
I really wish he wouldn't make things so obvious in front of Rarararara though. Wouldn't want her to get stroppy so early on. Even if it was kinda funny.

So I willed Damo out of a horrible sweater and into a neckerchief of whatever. Daaannnggg. (Wiggles nose again) and it was like Cinderella Unni at the horse scene or what? (Puts down the boombox that's belting out celtic tunes) Hey remember how Saran dropped her hairclip? Yeaaaah.

0

Ohh, don't you dare (Glor-i-ah!) laugh at the celticish music that played out, I've a soft spot for it. (Glor-i-ah!)

Also, I'm trying not to be distracted by the nose.... don't do this to me... nooooo!

0

I don't think he's ridiculously upset, just a little uncertain. Which, while annoying, is understandable in his position. Saran's just as awkward, if not more so, on her side. But I do love how she kept jumping every time her phone rang, not really thinking it would be him, but still hoping.. Totally cute, and totally what I do when there's a cute boy with my number.

And Rararara x infinity really is such a brat. "Omg he's talking to her, how dare she! Oh good, it was nothing. I look good on my horse? Of course I do. She's left us alone, yay! He's not doing things according to plan, no! Now I shall mope forever and ever." It's a credit to the actress that I don't loathe her breathing guts. Plus, she had such a cute scene with her aunt-mother, after rescuing her from being upside-down. XD

But OMFG writer, give me more interactions between Damo and Saran! The little 2-minute scenes earlier were cute, but I can't sustain interest on just that for much longer. ㅠㅠ I'm just hoping that now that they have each others' numbers (and he knows where she lives and she's going to his house on Saturday to dance for Grandma) that they'll be spending much more time together.

And random, but the DOG BIRTHDAY PARTY. Damo + party hat = super adorbs. Especially his "omfg why are we doing this" expression. Killed me. ♥

0

Sorry Kender, I have this ridiculous habit of not properly reading comments before posting my own (blame it on me being pushed for time, 'tis true). I totally didn't see the comment above, only the nose comment below it, guhh!

You know what I did the other day? Saw that JB had posted a recap about Paradise Ranch and not having much time to read it, thought the rest of the comments would be a total bitchfest, I gleefully laid right into the show and felt great until I came back to the post several hours later when I finally had the chance to actually sit back and READ it -- the comments were positively glowing with praise. *gulp* And my bitchtastic comment stuck out like a sore thumb.
Moral of the story: Read. Before. Commenting.

Anyway, that out of the way:
Yeah, I'd say it is understandable why he'd feel that way, it's less him, there's also his family - the insecurities on both sides, all the things that realistically are a part and parcel of social divides. Still, the way his face fell -- ouch!
This is a plot device rehashed in every kdrama, ever, but it's tolerable here strictly because there is some realism to it. Before he was just mesmerised by her but since they're humanising and bringing her down to earth a bit more now, any feelings developed for her hereforth will (hopefully) be the real deal and not just infatuation.
And yeah, she is totally insecure about her relative poverty.

True about sparse OTP time! at this rate they won't kiss till like the 30th episode or something -- y u b so slow, jakganim!?

Aandweh's birthday was sheer WTFery, the cutest part was the the party hat covering his eyes at one point and he's like squirming around struggling to see. Aw, I want that pup!

0

It's okay, I have a bad habit of letting a page sit open for hours before I finally comment on it, then realize that my comment's totally pointless because (a) it's out of place, or (b) everyone else has already said everything I could possibly want to say, and better. ><

Hahahahaha it's okay, I totally would've done the same thing. We were all ranting about it on Twitter -- I'm pretty sure none of us could get through the first ep, even the Changmin/TVXQ stans. It's just..so awful haha.

I have a soft spot for Papillons (and their cousins the Phalenes), so I find Andre infinitely adorable. I also like that he's actually a character rather than just a prop like so many other dogs in Kdramas. He'd better show up frequently or I'm gonna be upset. ♥

0

Aaah, so it's called a papillion. (Hits google...)
He IS seriously so cute. ''Aaaandweh... *spidey fingers* uri aduuuuuuel.... bogoshipacho!'' *smoochies*

0

A character? A what?! No. Andre..Andaweh is the star.

The end of the show will be a scene of Andre, who DREAMED THE ENTIRE THING UP.

Hey, I was right about the second car assault in It's Okay Daddy's Girl, but I was wrong about the antics in Saengchori. I've gotta sway my betting averages with betting more, soooo.. (crosses fingers)

0

THE NOSE. When she's laying in her bed in ep 4 and you can see up it, all I could think was "If you're going to spend money on a new nose, at least make sure the nostrils are even." ><

I'm usually pretty bad at telling plastic surgery even when I know someone's had it, but hers is just so obvious. D:

*chokes* You didn't... you didn't just do that… bro, you shouldn't be the one speaking, YOU have an appointment with Frank, mwahahahah...

Kender: you're right, I'm usually blind as a bat but even I say that scene in particular made it so obvious. That's a really bad nose job.

But... like storywise, I think it's fairly obvious where they're headed now; you see the Byeongkak Madam and her lingering love for Rara's father? Is that going to be the future dynamic for Saran and Damo? Nooooes…
Saying that I'm still not invested enough, still rolling along seeing what happens with the OTP. And like… I think Saran lost some of her luster in his eyes after he found out where she lives. He was so damn awkward in that scene and she was quick to pick up on it. Still, his heart has accepted her so…yeah, true love. <3

0

@Janna
Hahaha I know, I've been calling her Saran Wrap in my head for a few days. :P

@supah
Either they're going to end up like the madam and Rara's dad, or they're going to rise above the problems of the older generation and ~true love will conquer all~ or some such shizniz.

Unfortunately I can't find the app in the store.

it annoys me how db is always talking about how a show must have more than just the "cute" factor, and then when a show does start developing more than thatt, they just smash it.What do you want,db?You want more of the "cute" factor or less?are you never satisfied with anything kdramas have to dish out?will you forever dwell on the itsy-bitsy tiny little things that are wrong in a show?take my princess, for instance. In episode 8,the drama finally came out.I loved it.It made me cry like a baby, and yet I wasn't absolutely drowning in the too much drama. If you ask me,if a show can make you laugh as easily as it can make you cry, it's damn good. This whole "buckle under the pressure of drama because the show isn't built for it" is total bull crap to me.I'm sorry,DB,but I'm really just getting sick of you nitpicking all the sometimes non-existent little things in a drama that don't do it for you. It's time for everyone to just start ENJOYING KDRAMAS AGAIN...without the criticism.

Javabeans is a blogger, she runs this site called Dramabeans. She like the rest of us has her own set of opinions and she expresses them as she feels fit.
If she does or does not like a show that's her own personal thing (and she usually validates her findings), it should not affect our personal opinion or attachment to a show.

I watched the last episode of Gloria. I knew it was ending today, but I didn't really watch it after probably episode 15 or so. It's because of you know what that I hated. (**spoilers**) Jin-joo, I'm looking at you. What I thought could be an interesting family unit became crass sloppy makjang territory. She wasn't mentally disabled at all, and with a magic blink of a switch she was back to being a regular person who just gets lucky and has some manager job or something that makes money. Shame on you show. And her jackass ex-husband or lover or whatever that put her in that breakdown ends up jumping off a building or something. Whatever! Happily ever after blahblahblah. Disappoint.

I'm going to watch Sparkling next week because it looks pretty funny. I love comedy working girl dramas, hopefully it's like Dal Jas Spring. (If so I will love it forever) Kim Hyun Joo, hwaiting!

I had to stop around the midway mark. Thought the director gave it a nice feel and a lot of the cast were likable, but lame, lame writing.

Yay! Sparkling, adore Kim Hyun-joo. Also Kim Suk-hoon who's so old-school. He gives me golden era of HK actor vibes, I'm talking Andy Lau/Takeshi Kaneshiro/Leslie Cheung -- <3
But then when the material's mediocre he falls flat and becomes unbearable to watch. And I have no idea what the writer's like. The director's awesome though!

Ja Myung-go!
*smothers screen with salty tear kisses* That. Was. Epic!

Flawed but MARVELLOUS!

Oh and because janna and Kristal need convincing, here are some of the reasons you girls must watch this...

1) Jung Kyung-ho as Prince Hodong. Just look at those tears, so precious. I loved the way his character was written, dark, but justifiably so. Never once was he infuriating.
http://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy176/supah5/Ja%20Myung%20Go/13.jpg

2) Yeo Jin-gu! And engaging in crouching tiger-esque sword fights with a billowing ponytail and pretty princely robes.
http://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy176/supah5/Ja%20Myung%20Go/1.jpg

3) Wang-hol (Lee Ju-hyeon) aka. Bruce Lee look-a-like, playing a totally serene, compelling and overall winsome warrior (an oxymoron if you will -- but succeeding where the likes of Yu-shin and Wol-ya fell flat on their faces).
http://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy176/supah5/Ja%20Myung%20Go/3.jpg

Also, Jung Ryeo-won took me completely by surprise and bowled me over in JMG. I was captivated by her portrayal of an impressive yet earthy Ja Myung.
(Squee! Can't wait for Love, Hurt, Showers!)

Lest I forget there's also Park Ha-young (little Mi-joo) and Bad Family's Na-rim, and a whole host of awesome veteran actors.

This is ultimately one of the best love stories ever written and a great, creative spin on what was a genuine slice of history. (Comes across infuriatingly black and white at first but improves vastly as it progresses.)

Thank you, JMG, for being my gateway into sageukdom, I will always remember you fondly.
Now for everything else on my little sageuk list before I can finally graduate into hardcore territory. (Like Dae Jo-yeong: that writer! That cast! *faints*)

It's like 40 some episodes, isn't it? Right now I got a lot.. well, I'm watching Gisaeng, and then I was trying to get around to watching the rest of Freeter because that's a good show.

I was watching Taisetsu na Koto wa Subete Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta (longest title ever) but oh man. I'm hoping they murder the girl and bury her body and it can move from obnoxious ten minute jealousy glares into two teachers on the run from killing a student who deserved it. Because she's annoying as hell.

For some reason I really like Fuyu no Sakura and there's a lot of reasons for that, but the other day I realized while watching episode 3 one of the OST songs has a part that sounds like a song from Giant. That's probably subconsciously the biggest reason of them all.

But right now? This Strong Heart episode needs to download faster.

(Shoves tangerine in mouth, juts bottom lip out.)

Did your SH take forever to download too? Just skimmed through quickly. Kkiowah won over Won Bin ahjusshi. Now I would've been gleeful had my distaste for the one doing the picking got in the way. But yeah, kkiowah for the win.

0

I mean, NOT got in the way.
I'm cranky, sleep-deprived and overworked and underpaid... And all that stuff that runs through your mind on a tuesday night.

0

Simple rules for guy picking:
Anyone vs Kang Dong Won = Kang Dong Won
Kang Don Won vs Eric = YOU JUST CAN'T DO THAT TO ME
Kang Dong Won vs Anduweh/Andre = Well, I'm pretty sure I've seen Kang Dong Won in a party hat, but I'll need a second look.

You.. skimmed...? Um, you need to watch that. Every Giant fan needs to watch Strong Heart Episode 62 RIGHT NOW. Right now I'm debating whether I want to put a video editing program on my computer to cut the dancing scene out and put it to the Bee Gees Stayin' Alive. If someone does this for me I will start off every morning playing that video forever and ever and ever.

0

Yah... it took sooo bloody long to download that I ran out of time to watch the damn thing. But yeah, sat and enjoyed it today.
Leeteuk and his totes goofy, downright embarrassing noona. <3
Moon Hee-kyeong -- I luuurve this ahjumma, she's awesome AND I'd been after that song she sang forever (now I know the name of the original singer and will hunt it down like a fiend), it's the song that Mi-joo used to sing holding a hairbrush... or a mop-head.

But nothing beats this expression after being picked out over Won Bin.
http://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy176/supah5/Drama%20Special/1-1.jpg
There's a word for this...
And it's...
What is it?
That's right:

.
.
.
kkiowah!
(I need to stop, I really do, but want to juice it for all its worth. Officially the best two SH episodes, evar!)

Oh and I'm not watching the next two. Distasteful man-picker's onscreen boyfriend is going to be in it.

Fuyu no Sakura sounds awesome, I will check it out too. Will also keep a keen ear out for its OST and anything reminiscent of Loooooooving yoooouuu.... Ohhh ohhh!
