After watching ep 16 of A Gentlemans Dignity I want some stinkin’ Oppas of my very own.

I’ve said this many times during my rewatch that I am here for the friendship between the 4 guys. To be loved by one of these guys is to be loved and protected by all 4 of them (and not in the Eun Hee way). The way they gathered to protect YiSoo was so awesome.

I think the first time I watched this drama it was this episode that I officially started fast forwarding Meahri scenes. I like to think I started sooner, but I think it was her sobbing at Yoon’s dead wifes grave site for her to let him go so that he can be with her? I was DONE with her. I like to think that a year after he marries Meahri that Yoon comes to his senses and divorces her. I think probably 6 weeks after the wedding he starts regretting it,but he tries to make it work for the sake of his friendship with TaeSan. Around 6 months out TaeSan notices that Yoon has to get full on wasted to go home, he starts paying attention. His disgustingly stupid and selfish little sister is still happy (she got what she wanted after all) but Yoon, Yoon is miserable. At 8 months out Tae San pulls Yoon aside and tells him to divorce Meahri. Yoon says no–he tries to say that their happy together but he cant even fix his mouth to say the lie.
One day the guys are talking about their sex lives, they get to Yoon and TaeSan starts making upchuck sounds. He doesn’t want to hear about his baby sisters sex life and Yoon confesses that hes never touched her. They havent even kissed. He just wanted her to be happy and to stop crying. Upon hearing this bit of news the guys begin badgering Yoon to just divorce her. They’ve all seen how he’s been miserable being married to the child. Finally, a day before their 1 year anniversary Yoon sits Meahri down and pleads with her. Hasn’t it been long enough? Can you let me go and be happy now? She says no and starts sobbing how much she loves him. He tells her its a selfish love, she doesn’t care about him. He’s not happy and has never been happy in this sham of a marriage. He leaves and starts the divorce process.
When he comes back, she’s sadly killed herself.
Yoons first thought is that TaeSan is never going to forgive him and that he’s losing one of his best friends for nothing. Before he can succumb to despair, the other three show up. They understand what happened in a glance, arrange for Meahri’s funeral and put Yoon into ALL OF THE THERAPY.
Eventually, Yoon finds his inner peace and even some gull dern happiness. He meets one of Jeong Roks wifes awesome bad ass friends, they hit it off immediately. He falls for her, hard. Hes not sure he should risk it though, his wife–his first real love, died tragically and much much to young. His young stalker died after becoming his bride. He’s nervous that this woman is going to meet a bad and sorry end. But, much like Jeong Rok’s wife she’s a bad ass. Eventually, with love and patience, she (along with his therapist) help him overcome his fear. They get married and have babies. In a nod to his second insane wife

Meahri who died too young, too pitiful. Hopefully her name sake will be the polar opposite. And she’ll have what Meahri the first always wanted: Yoon’s undying affection.

You know, thinking about it like this I think I can actually stomach the plot line. This is obviously how this shiz storyline is supposed to end.

Nope. Even with this perfect ending, I still find that I cannot with Meahri. The second she comes on, I still fast forward.

Look here. Both of them have bad taste in shoes. The shoes he bought her? Ugly. The shoes she bough him? Ugly.

And on that note, I am going to sleep. A whole 90 minutes earlier than yesterday. Progress!

    Ep 18.
Yoon taking off his wedding ring for the first time and putting away was such a powerful, emotional scene. No words, just the actor, the ring and the box. It was beautiful.

its ridiculous, really, that all of the emotion from this storyline comes from the quietness of Yoon and Tae San, or the anger of Yoon and Tae San and the hurt of Yoon and Tae San. The crying girl? Who’s screaming and sobbing and carrying on every single time she comes on screen? There’s no emotion there. She remains the worst part of this drama and the most ineffectual leg of the “triangle”. The only reason why this storyline is effective at. all is because of how strong the friendship is between TaeSan and Yoon. I wish they would have done something—anything with Meahri to make her a strong or interesting character. Because as it is? She’s not worth the pain that both men is in. Because shes not worth it its hard to relate to why Yoon is putting them through it. It would be easiest/best to just…let her go. If they had put anything into the character the storyline would be so much better.

As someone who grew up with a pretty crappy childhood, JoDin promising YiSoo that he would make sure that she was happy in the future (after she tells him she had a bad childhood) hits me right in the sweet spot. I wish someone would say that to me.

I hate that since they are all good friends, they all have opinions and things to say about the Meahri/Yoon situation so even when neither character is on screen they are still being talked about. This plot line has eaten the last few eps of the drama.

I also hate that at absolutely no point at any point in this drama has this child cared about anyone other than herself (no, not Yoon. Always how she feels about Yoon. Doesnt matter to her one way or another how he feels as long as she can stay around him) they are making a big deal out of how upset she is that her brother is mad at her. But even then, its not that she’s upset that he’s mad at her its that Yoon wont be around her until her brother calms down. So instead of finally getting to be in the “relationship” they are just talking on the phone.

I love it. The women + child coming in looking sexy af and the men, completely loose their minds. They aint ready. Im assuming this cold open takes place some time in the future.

Girl. You are 36 years old. Why are you lying about getting a hotel to go and do the do with your boyfriend? Jeung Rok’s wife is so not judging you.

Seriously you guys. I think I could rock white pants. I think I should buy some.

I love that Colin has found his people and that he’s getting along with his Dad. Oh…they’ve found their Yoon!

I love a good dad, you guys. When he stood up for Colin’s friend (the ever so lovely KWB–who beat him up early in the series) and threatened to beat up the dad because the son hit his sons friend? I swooned.

They became friends because they were trying to fight?

The last ep of my rewatch

I am going to miss these four guys.

I love that Park Min Sook and Jeung Rok are randomly doing the Macarena in the middle of the club. Everyone around them is pointing and laughing but they do not care. This is their jam and they are all about it. I dont understand the subbers note, though. They said that the song was Macarena and it was by a kpop group in the early 2000s. But it didn’t sound like a remake. It s sounded like the original Macarena from the early 90s.

Maehri told her parents who didn’t object to the marriage just to how quickly it was happening (they wanted TaeSan to get married first) that she was pregnant. And sat there as he was beaten up. Real catch you have there.

Again, I just dont get it. Yoon is at his wifes –I dont know what its called, actually. Her resting place? And he’s leaving his wedding ring and telling her that hes going to marry Meahri and even there he calls her a child. Because thats what she is. And I just want to point out, its his wedding night. His wedding night and instead of being all up and over his new wife doing what people do on their wedding nights, he’s eating fried chicken with his boys and drinking beer. If thats not proof that he does not want that child I dont know what is. I’m telling you. My short story? Thats what happens.

Well, my new favorite answer to, “I love you” is to lean back and coolly say, “Well be my guest.”

This drama would have worked better at 16 instead of 20 eps. And I wish that they had approached Colin’s storyline differently. Like trying to get close to each guy when he was trying to get to know them: Work at Rok’s store, intern with TaeSan and JoDin, work at Yoons office. And then after spending a few eps getting to know each of them he announces that one of them is his father. And then we could have gotten to know him better and he would have been inserted into each of the storylines.

They took his stupid safety pins out. Oh, flash mob! The boys! Oh, this was a sweet proposal. Dang it. Now I want to marry an architect who will make me happy. Gosh. Oh, he changed his suit. I swear I am the most unobservant person in this whole entire world. Everyones arms must be hurting waiting for her to say yes. And again, how do people stand so perfectly still? I want to fidget on their behalf.

I wondered this the first time I watched this. Why are they barefoot? The ladies are in sky high heels but our dudes are all barefoot.

I wish there was a continuation with Dong Hyub and Colin and their friends. We could get a peak into the lives of the boys ocassionally. Watch Yoon go through therapy after Meahri kills herself because he wants a divorce, and finally find a good woman. It could be a whole plot line.

I like this drama a lot. Except for the parts I dont like. I wish there were more like it.
