How can directing be so terrible in Hwayugi? Actors were shot weirdly, some scenes were longer than necessary, music came out of nowhere, it was so bad that I can’t say anything about storyline.Whole drama I was thinking about how differently it could be shoot and how many beautiful scenarios we could get

It was quite the opposite for me. Probably that’s because I so desperately wanted to get a good fantasy drama. That and I really liked the two male leads. Some of the sets were cheesy but weren’t too bad either. I wonder if I went back and watched it if I would see things differently and notice those issues you mentioned?

I think, I got extra annoyed because main leads are all good actor but because some scenes were too long or only face was shot Cha Seung Won overreacted 70% of time, Oh Yeon Soo looked dazed and was looking at some other spot and not the person she talked to. There were moments were I had no idea what characters were thinking, like in the road scene, romantic music started and the leads looked at each other and I even thought they fall in love at first sight (Nope, they simply recognized each other and there was nothing ~Lovely~ Romantic~ about it).
And it is my first time feeling nothing about concert scene, like why was it shot from front? The soul getting scene could be so much better and why did Lee Hong Ki randomly started running? I get it, it was part of performance but….gosh. or the scene with Cha Seung Won smelling slippers, it was fun for whole 5 seconds, why did show needed to spend 5 minutes on that?
The only positive thing I remember is that I liked Lee Seung GI with long hair and that this role seems perfect for him.
Sorry for long comment, I guess I was too excited for this drama and had huge expectations (monkey God, girl with umbrella and priest with fur coat still sounds so cool). This often results in whining on fanwall for another day or two.
