Done watching Forest of Secrets. I dont know if it’s because I expected so much from it but it was rather bland. I’ve watched a lot more dramas that are deserving to be best of 2017.

Did we overhype it for you??? Oops…😅😧

I will say, watching it live – it was magic. The sweet suspense of having to wait each week!! For me, this is the best drama of the year, and one of the all time greats. But, I LOVE this genre. It was a perfect trifecta of acting, writing, and production. It even has my favorite opening. I guess I just really liked it…hahaha

Lol. Maybe I just expected too much after it was put up as best drama in the editors’ picks. I bet live watching and marathoning were very different. Still, I found it too complicated and hard to relate to (most of it was about chaebols, bribery, and those complicated terms). At one point, it felt like I was just going around in circles.

It does make me wonder if I would feel different if I watched it in a different time and different mood. It’s great that you enjoyed the show though. Wish I liked it more. 🙂

I feel you. I think the dramas you end up disliking or not really enjoying give you a better gauge on what you’re looking for in a drama and what the crowd is after. You get a lot better at figuring out if you want to start or continue one pretty quickly. See I wouldn’t call Secret Forest or Go Back Spouses my best drama of 2017 but I enjoyed both.
I’d probably go with Girls Generation 1979 or Circle. 🎶👽🎶

Circle was sooo good. My mind was constantly being blown.

My mind gets blown twice in an episode. It’s crazy. Lol.

Me too. Everything was so suspenseful for me. The tension while watching it was brutal. I remember I was so delicate after watching it. Couldn’t even think about rewatching because it got me emotionally. Whew

Just on the top of my mind, I’d say Seven Day Queen, Chicago Typewriter, and Go Back Spouses are the ones for me this year. But yeah, only goes to show that everyone is different and we all like different things. I think it’s even better now because we have a lot of options. Back then, it felt like everything I watched were makjangs. HAHAHA.

I haven’t seen GG1979 but I’ll put it on my list!

Top for me probably FoS, Circle and Chief Kim.

I haven’t gotten to GG1979 either. But I heard good things.

Oh I hope you two try out the first episode to see how you like it. It’s super short only 8 episodes. There’s just so much heart and a sort of coming of age story set in a really interesting time period in Korea.
Oh I have been watching Chief Kim for months. I really like it but I haven’t finished because I like that it’s there waiting for me ol’ reliable. 4 episodes left 💕

Doesn’t it feel like that was all there was? Sigh this new landscape is quite nice

The key is lowering your expectations to below zero when attempting to watch a hyped drama 😄

But I rather agree. I liked FoS very much because the villain role was a role I had always always thought I would love to see. I don’t think I would have liked it as much with a regular villain. The leads were very good but they didn’t make me love the drama.
