Beanie level: Rooftop room dweller

I watched the Commentary video done by the Happiness team and now I’m sad that I watched it so late. I want to rave about the drama with others. ;A;

@earthna: I envy you watching it for the first time. So few other KDramas this year have come close to it for me. I’m not a zombie horror genre fan but I loved it.

    1

Indeed! I’m not a fan of zombie stuff either. I guess we liked it because it was so much more. The set up and explanation for the zombies are different than usual. It was a well explained contagious disease that makes complete sense. Also love how they go back to being normal after tasting blood. Ahhhhhh it’s so good!

They did not just do that to my boy!!!
I’m too attached to this show at this point.

Summer Strike started with tears but we can only go up from here.

The contest heats up and the Dowager Queen just keeps getting closer to being worst grandma of the year.

Episode 7 Reaction is up! Let’s go, Seong-nam!

I might really have it bad. I just wrote a poem titled From Jung Yi-hyun. It\’s about his feelings for Sae-bom from the moment he fell off the roof to that rooftop scene in episode 11. #Happiness

I guess I\’ll just stay as a rooftop room dweller until I have a Jung Yi-hyun like guy to come and be my roommate. There will be lots of hijinks and contract marriage. Lezgo

Honestly conflicted about this twist.
Here’s my reaction to and review of Happiness Episode 10!

So I\’ve finished Happiness and it felt like it\’s something I\’ll keep with me for a long time. The drama I\’ll think about out of the blue and smile/cry. Do you have a drama like this?

8
10

    Fight For My Way.

That show gives me this comfort, warm, happiness, sadness… no other drama gives me the sense of validation FFMW does. So I have a few scenes that make me (almost) cry/smile everytime I remember them.

Oh, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay and Flower Boy Next Door too.

Aw sounds like you really have it close to your heart! We’re you going through something when you watched it the first time? I find that it tends to stick when it’s like that.

      2
      1

Not really. The show was meaningful and beautiful so it became an instant favorite.

When I feel lost and tired I like to rewatch my favorite kdramas, so I’ve rewatch FFMW a couple times. And every single time I rewatched it, it felt right. I didn’t feel alone. They understood me.

For IOTNBO and FBND it’s exactly what you said.

Interesting question. The first one that came to mind is Healer. Still remember that Eternal Love song vividly. It’s such a heart-warming show.

Aww the memories! Those were good times. Remember when javabeans and girlfriday did a drunk podcast about Healer? We need those back lol

      1

I guess I was late to the party. I wish I was here already in that era. And we truly need something like that!

        2
        1

It was really fun! The podcast should still be here somewhere if you want to listen in. I remember it being Valentine’s when it came out too lol

I do have a lot of shows like this actually. I’m the girl who only watches and finishes what she likes so they’re all special to me. The dramas that do come back to me just by hearing the ost though are Tomorrow With You and Chicago Typewriter. Those broke me.

I think for me the dramas which bring this kind of emotions when I remember them are Flower Boy Next Door and Live up to your name (this one made my eyes water for some days after finishing it).

It’s nice to see the Queen back up and fighting. Can’t believe Consort Hwang had a secret like that though!

I started watching Never Give Up and it\’s hilarious how their son\’s name is Gu Junpyo lol.
Kdrama parents are at it again lol

I wanna rewatch Weather because it\’s getting colder but don\’t want to be sad. Any recent pick me up dramas that are acrually good? Something to lift me up and is easy to watch?

I will start my annual rewatch in a month more or less. It’s not that cold here and I need to be in a total winter mood. The more I watch the less sad I find it. I need my sweet Eun Seob.

    3

I’m just starting to watch it for the first time! Today is supposed to be the beginning of our rainy season, and all the rain-on-the-roof sounds are making me hopeful we’ll hear that here soon.

As for @earthna‘s question, the only recent lighthearted show I can recommend is Sh**ting Stars.

      2
      2

Thank you! I looked it up and thought it was hilarious that Kim Young-dae was also in Weather. lol

        Update: It’s raining! It’s raining! It’s raining!!!
💦happy dance💦 If watching When the Weather Is Fine every November is what it takes to end this drought, I would gladly make that sacrifice. 😂

I already put the 1-3 episodes on my phone to watch them in the train :p

Love how we do annual rewatch of this drama lol. I might have to wait until next year though when we actually have snow. That’s true about it being less sad the more you watch it but my head’s just not in the right space for it right now.

Eun-seob is still one of the best guys ever.

Whose WEATHER? Seo Kang-joon’s or Song Kang’s? Probably SKJ’s. 😇

Seriously to answer your question I can recommend Yoon Do-joon’s NEVER GIVE UP (2022) (Netflix US). Lovely feel good drama with a terrific ending. Also you get a sort of YDJ-Kwak Do-won bromance that was fun.

    2
    3

You and I are pushing this drama pretty hard on people, aren’t we?

      2
      1

I did start it. And it has terrific acting. But all the secrecy and petty backstabbing and midlife crisis got too much for me. Dropped after some episodes.

        1
        1

The mom group was annoying at the beginning, and the ex-partner, but the story all works out by the end. One of the more satisfying endings I’ve seen.

When the weather is fine, the SKJ drama. Earthna was one of the Viki subbers. Her love for the drama is as big as mine!!!

Definitely Kang-joon’s! Funny how they’re both with Park Minyoung in it!

Heyyy thank you! I totally forgot that I wanted to watch this. I really need to make a physical watch list and not just keep them in my mind.

I will go with this one once I’m done with Love between Fairy and Devil. I’ve been neglecting uri Doo Joon for too long 😖

      Oops hit send too soon.

If not, I just finished Your Honour. It was ridiculous how much suspension of disbelief it required, but it more than made up for it with fantastic amount of heart. It reminded me very much of old school kdramas: check logic and reason at the door, and you will be rewarded.

Is this the one with Yoon Shiyoon?

I’ll have to pass on the legal drama for now. My brain can’t handle lol.
I’ll keep it stashed for when I’m in that mood though. Thank you!

          Yes, Yoon Shi Yoon.

The legalities are left at the door with the logic 🤣 everything in this show is a joke delivered in the most heart wrenching way. Cute actually.

But I totally understand and respect what you mean.

          1

Lol that actually sounds like a lot of fun. Must have been amazing to watch it while it’s airing.

          Then maybe Ghost Doctor?

The one with Rain and Kim Beom, right? I’ve seen this one~

            1
            0

It was actually. I had come straight from Train and Adamas, and was unconsciously expecting a dark and serious show. The first episode actually was quite off-putting in this context, so I can imagine many people dropping it for the same reason while airing.

I was able to greatly enjoy the fun after I slowly realized what type of show I’m watching. Old-school romcom.

I’ve heard people talk about this which makes me assume it’s really good.
Just not ready to commit to a lengthier drama at the moment.
      Really appreciate the recommendation though!

Yes, I think it’s really good. What is special is that I think it’s even better in the rewatch.
