Beanie level: Rooftop room dweller

Damn My Liberation Notes. When I finally feel for the characters, it gives me a slap on the face. Hard.

What’s the verdict on Tomorrow? Do you recommend it? Is the ending satisfying? No spoilers please! Thank you!

    No 🤷🏽‍♀️

if you have nothing to watch, maybe but the road to happy ending is… it could be better. I’m unsatisfied but seeing JoongRyeon’s smile soothe me a bit

Thank you! I was hoping to watch during my camping trip but I still wish it would be a satisfyung ending. 🙁

I do recommend it. I have a review ready to post as soon as I finish the last episode.

Only good thing about being sick is that I got to binge watch 12 episodes of My Liberation Notes.

I must be old. I just can’t with the teenager story in Our Blues. Why do they keep saying they did nothing wrong?!

2
6

Because it was an accident? They had sex but they used a protection that didn’t work. So it happened. It’s not really their fault but just bitter fate?

    6
    0

Teenagers have sex. They tried to be safe, it failed. The same thing happens to adults too. It sucks, but I don’t know what they are supposed to say.

    5
    0

I like that they say that actually. It’s nice to see that they’re not going to raise a “mistake” but there going to raise a “baby”. They’re not going to treat it like an error, and they’re not going to live a life full of regrets.

    4
    0

I didn’t mean the part that they have the baby but it seems to me that if they apologized even once, their fathers would understand them more. Like with Youngjoo. Her father gave up everything for her and yet she’s expecting him to calm down and give in to her like always. I see she also feels bad but it just really rubs me the wrong way.

They didn’t intend to be pregnant too so it is an accident but the show makes it seem romantic and all.

    1
    2

They didn’t want to say sorry for the baby but she did say sorry to her father at the end.

      0
      0

I think the romance comes from the baby making them decide to double down on loving each other. They are both children from broken homes and Young-joo said at the beginning of the series that love isn’t real and it doesn’t last. So deciding to love with her whole heart is a big thing for her.

This 2NE1 surprise was insane! 2nd Gen, let’s go!

I enjoyed your reaction as much as their performance.

    This is 2nd gen. power!!!!!!

      Thanks for watching!
Omg Eazal! Can you imagine a concert with 2nd gen groups? The boy group collab for “Wonder Boys” and “Boys Generation” is iconic!

It would be the death of me, but I would pay whatever price they ask me to be there!

        1

I would too! I would be willing to fly to Korea if I could only get at least a week vacation from work. Those were the glory days back then. Would pay to re-live it.

oh no, we were watching the live stream! i was asking her WHY she wasn’t down there to see Jackson, and then she’d have seen the 2NE1 reunion… she was very sad.

Our Blues did not just end there!! ARGHHHHH HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO MEEEEEE

Wow. Our Blues is so darn good. It\’s a total punch to the gut and I\’m now gonna spend the whole day thinking about my values and my life.

I’m finding this show too stressful—fish monger lady and branch manager’s relationship is making me fear the worse.

    2
    1

Oh it stressed me out too. I described it as me watching a car about to get into an accident but I can’t do anything so I just yell nonstop. It really pays off though.

Noh Heekyung really has a way of driving a point across. They’re not likeable and their choices are not the best. We as the viewers only see parts of who they are and start judging them with just that. Later, we get to know them more and now, it’s painful. It’s crazy because I can’t stop watching.

      1
      0

I think I’d like it more if I weren’t watching My Liberation Notes too. It seems less deep because of the comparison.

    2

Ohhh thanks for that. I’ll hold off on watching Liberation Notes then.

Anybody watching Our Blues? I don\’t see people talking about it anywhere?
I got teary eyed as soon as Kim Woobin showed up. I wasn\’t even a fan.

Me neither but it’s so great to see him looking and acting like he stepped out of his last drama a week ago.

    1

I’m watching! Can’t believe it’s been 6 years since Woo Bin was in a drama.

Coming straight off 2521, and with HomeCha in mind, the 1st episode felt a bit muted. But i have a feeling i will end up loving this – the drama is gorgeous and has a star-studded cast, so it shud be a no-brainer right? Haha.. anyway i loved Han Ji Min and the other lady, they’re such a riot together.

    4
    1

It’s a lot slower than other shows which I expected since Dear My Friends was the same. It is a nice change after the chaos of the dramas that just ended. Lol that scene with Jimin and Lee Jungeun!! I was laughing and air high fiving with them!

I was never a fan of Kim Woobin either but it was indeed nice to see him.

Noh Heekyung has a way of telling us it’s her work on screen. The grandmas from DMF are also in Our Blues hehe

Same! I was SO happy to see him. Couldn’t help but notice he has aged.. Gosh, its been more than 6 years right?

    4

He did, eh? I do like this look on him. I prefer it as it suits his actual age.

Yup, this look makes him even more attractive.

I’m watching it! It’s the third show on my list right now, so I’m still on episode 1! I was proud when I saw the first seen and recognized him from his backside!

Watched Mom\’s Diary with Super Junior and had laughed so hard my cheeks hurt! I don\’t think any other idol group can be so naturally funny as them in variety shows.

    I love them, but… you know… 2PM…

    We love our babes!!!!

2PM are up there with the funniest groups! 2nd gen are the funniest overall.
Their Abracadabra parody with 2AM is legendary.

I still like 2521 and it had some really great parts. Just wish they graduated earlier and we had more scenes of them as adults.

It took a while but we finished subtitles for the first season of Tracer! We\’re taking a one week break after this.

Just want to talk about 2521 but goodness, twitter is so toxic. Can\’t believe how many people are hating on Yoorim.

6
20

Are there people who actually like Yu-rim? The last time I hated a character this much was Jo Yi-seo in Itaewon Class.

    1
    2

Really? I see her as a kid with inferiority complex lashing out because she’s scared of losing her position. What she did to Heedo was bad. That is no doubt a fact. However, people kept wanting her to do this and that and because she’s not doing it, she’s bad and have no hope of becoming a better person. That’s not any different from the people in the drama judging Heedo and saying just whatever they want.

      6
      2

She has an inferiority complex, but how is that Hee-do’s fault? Even before stealing Hee-do’s victory today, she’s treated her like crap since day one when Hee-do was nothing but nice to her. Hee-do still makes an effort to be civil like when she asked Yu-rim if she wanted to share a taxi who rudely dismissed her. She’s under pressure from their trash coach to win, but at the same time Hee-do has to deal with being actively rooted against. She has a victim complex when Hee-do is the victim. She’s a reminder of why you should never meet your heroes because your image of him or her will shatter.

        3
        3

You can like how a character is written and empathize with their flaws while recognizing that what what they did was “wrong”.

But I don’t watch media to make moral judgements about the characters on my screen. I watch it to see complex people come alive and see how the writer navigates human relationships, which are messy and tangled. People make lots of mistakes in their lives, people do things that others don’t approve of all the time, but the best part about fiction is seeing them grow from those mistakes. The best part is seeing how the writer uses those characters and their journeys to flesh out the themes of their story.

I find the focus on how “likeable” characters are in media these days to be so dreadfully boring.

          5
          1

I’m still on ep 3 so maybe I should not say much but I think the question is how the drama presents the troubled character. You can have great dramas with likable or unlikable leads with many faults but the drama has to be honest and embrace the fact that character has no morals or is simply a selfish narcissistic idiot. This drama seems to be one of those that pretend it’s all about context, everybody’s got their own reasons and they should just hold hands and be friends.

            1
            0

It’s not her fault but to Yoorim, she’s a threat. That’s why she’s so on edge everytime she’s around. She would have done the same thing if another upstart fencer comes to their school. It just so happens that it’s Heedo this time.

          1
          0

I think both of them are victims of the adults in their life. Hee Do’s mum, coach, the association..all of them are not doing it right for the girls.

          3
          1

i actually think YR really thought she was faster.. not going by HD’s “fencer’s would know”

Then they wouldn’t have to have introduced video ever in that sports.. du’oh

While YR is rude to HD..but in game she won’t go that low to lie..

plus, if anything ep 7 confirms the happy vibe this drama is going for.. so i honestly doubt any sad open endings will happen..

We are witnessing the process of falling in love and those two would be end couple.. and we are witnessing enemy to best friend love story too

        **************

the only baffling part is BYJ’s radio club junior, gold medalist girl.. as to what is her equation/rolle in this series… I assume she is the switzerland linking other 4 / 2 couples

        0
        0

I didnt follow Itaewon Class live and got to watching only this year. I like Jo Yisseo. She has a strong personality and knows what she wants. I guess she may not appeal to everyone.

      2
      1

The only thing Jo Yi-seo wanted was Park Sae-ro-yi, so everything she did was to get him to love her back. At least Kim Da-mi is a good actress, which I don’t think Kim Bo-na (Kim Ji-yeon) is, but I chalk that up to Yu-rim’s character.

        2
        1

I agree. Kim DaMi is a great actress.
YuRim is indeed complicated. She always has to put up this front for HeeDo. Girl has an inferiority complex but not really a bad person.

          1
          0

Really? What YooRim did was wrong definitely. HeeDo was ruled as the winner she shouldve respected that. YooRim is misguided and I am waiting for her redemption

    3
    2

lol..comeon.. in so many sports people refute.. or ask for confirmation.. respect the game.. rest will follow.. if the sport has given player that option of calling it out.. that means it is needed..

      1
      0

I think that she reLly believes she was faster. Not that she was being malicious. She really thinks she is faster.

      2
      1

    I don’t understand honestly.

She’s a teenager. She lost on a referee decision. It’s her right to contest it. For me, she didn’t nothing wrong.

At the press conference, she should swallow her pain and angriness to say she accepted the referee’s decision but I can understand why she didn’t. Emotions must be strong at the end of a competition like this. It was the same for Hee-Doo. Both of them let their emotions take over.

The issue was the journalists, their questions were out of place and the coach should have stopped them. But he was a bad coach since the beginnineg…

    6
    2

I don’t like how Yoo-rim has treated Hee-do, but I understand her. I find her to be a pretty interesting, complex character who will hopefully have a believable growth arc.

So I started watching 2521 on a whim and it’s now midnight and I have work in a few hours. Still, I wanted to put my feelings into words so I wrote the show a poem.

February 14, 2022

Dramas have progressed so much that I have a whole list of favourite kdrama scenes. However, this one has a special place in my heart. It’s a scene from It’s Okay, Daddy’s Girl. The show as a whole was meh but strangely, I remember it as being really warm.

It being old though, I couldn’t find official subs so I translated it. :3 Pardon the video quality as well. It’s from the dinosaur age. ;A;

Anyway, what sold it for me was the line “Why does it feel like I have everything in the world all of a sudden?” which coincidentally was a line said by Oh Mi-joo in Run On last year. Love when that happens.

Love,
February
