Beanie level: Rooftop room dweller

Kim Namgil looks sooooo good based on the screencaps I’m seeing but I dont think I can add any more dramas to my plate.

With so many dramas dealing with children having nosebleeds (or worse things) due to having to study nonstop, you’d think that people would wake up and realize what’s wrong. Sadly, it’s still on going. Let children be children.

Being possessed by Oh Mi-joo

Oh MiJoo is one of the best female characters you can find in dramaland. I’m enjoying my rewatch so, so much!

She is indeed! I hope to become like her and find my Seongyum too.

The things happening in The One and Only are all outrageous and crazy. Murder, manipulation, death, you name it, they have it. The characters don\’t have much to live. It\’s heartbreaking but what I love the most is that the characters long for simple things. In the middle of all this chaos, they just want to eat kimbap, spend time with family, live another day. Plus the direction is so good. The shots are creative and beautiful. I love it so much!! ;A;

ohh, i haven’t watched the new eps yet. am waiting for ep 8 to post with subs on the site i watch…

I have been told you are also loving this so I have come to find you for solidarity because I have been struggling to find people to talk about it. It’s so weird and has really unusual pacing decisions but I love it. It has an existential reformed assassin in it. How could I NOT love it!

    3
    1

Omg yay! I’m also looking for people who are watching it!

      HAHAHAHAHA I agree with the pacing. There are also some weird transitions but overall really good! I feel for the characters and I’m really cheering them on. Trying to get myself ready for I know we would have to say goodbye at one point. ;A;

      2

*joins the club* I too search the Internet for fellow watchers. I’ve been rather busy so I can’t log in often to DB but I’m always waiting for your posts about it @earthna. XD

        2

        I feel like we’re so few πŸ™ πŸ™
Tbh the pacing feels intentional- but it is very unconventional at the same time- like by episode 6 they both know everything there is to know about each other? Childhood connection, the note written on the money, that he’s a contract killer, that she tried to kill someone, that she’s deaf, that she’s dying! like! Dramas usually drag shit like that out till the last possible moment but noooo not this one! hahaha I find it weirdly refreshing but hopefully this has enough left to last 16 episodes… and doesn’t jump shark…

The premise of the terminal illness was why I initially didn’t want to start it, but I did for KKN anyway… I too am trying to brace myself for the ending.

        2
        1

And grandma found out about her illness, and we know who the big baddie is already. It’s definitely an uncommon way of storytelling for a korean drama.

Honestly, I’m ready for Show to break my heart in the end because KKN and AEJ play their pain in such a beautiful way. Like in the last episode when In Sook said “kwaenchana” oofff! My heart!

Oh man. The One and Only is so good. This confession definitely goes into my top kdrama confessions list. I really wish a happy ending for these two, whatever that means.

WC: What’s your dream?
IS: There’s no such thing. What about you?
WC: I have one now. Going to Venice with you.
IS: Do you like the sea or the mountains?
WC: It used to be the mountains but now it’s the sea.
IS: Do you like the countryside or the city?
WC: City.
IS: Really?
WC: Yes. What about you?
IS: For me… The countryside.
WC: Then countryside for me too.
WC: I love you.

“Hello. And Bye. Whichever one it is, we can never get ourselves ready to say it.”

Please check out The One and Only. It’s so good!

That was an exceptional episode. Well written.

      It hurt so mucj!

      1
      1

It was sad. I loved how good bye and hello were threaded through it: endings and beginnings, and how she tried to say goodbye to her grandmother and it didn’t work. I thought it was all v sensitively put together. I love the people at the hospice too.

        1
        1

Yessss. That was beautiful indeed. With minimal dialogue at that!

“There are two kinds of greetings. Bye and Hello. You have to say one to say the other. If Mom didn’t leave me, I wouldn’t have alighted from the car. I wouldn’t have heard that sound. That boy wouldn’t have lived. I wouldn’t have held that dying boy’s hand. It’s time to say a greeting again. Can I do well this time?”

First minute of The One and Only EP7 and I’m crying already ;A;

Jihoo from Uncle has a higher level of maturity than a lot of adult kdrama characters. I love that kid.

7

He’s sensible and sensitive, mostly because he had to be at a very young age. It serves him well, but I think he lost some of his childhood carefreeness.

    5
    1

I knowwwww. It’s sad when kods get robbed the time to just be kids. He was only able to enjoy it when Hyuk was around. πŸ™

That kid is more mature than me, tbh.

I don’t know if it’s going good or going bad. All I know is I’m crying my eyes out. ;A;

Episode 9 of Uncle is basically the calm before the storm. I was anxious the whole episode. Damn

Grandmother makes being thrown in jail look like a piece of cake.

Me too, the whole entire episode, just waiting for the next shoe to drop. You totally know that his sudden music career is being funded by evil Grandma.

    1
    1

Yeah! The signing bonus was a dead giveaway. Crazy how they dropped their guards down right after grandma appeared. Seriously?

I’m not as suspicious of Noeul’s Dad now though.

Woo-cheon: It\’s something that my mom used to listen to. She said that when I was crying as a baby, listening to this would make me smile.
In Sook: Why would you sell it then?
Woo-cheon: I just thought this is the right time to do so.

I\’m crying! ;A; I have a bad habit of keeping everything (paper, cards, tissue – I write poems on them sometimes) and not being able to let them go. Wish the right time would come to me too, Woocheon-ah! #TheOneAndOnly

Finally, Woo Cheon and In Sook got some time together and be happy. I\’m screaming!! I love you both. Just stay alive!!

I loveeee NJ so much. Please give her a happy ending!

Same, I just want NJ to be happy and the two Ungs to keep their friendship.

I really liked her first meeting with Woong. I’m not her biggest fan, but they can learn from each other and I do want them to stay friends.

    1
    1

Right? NJ was so used to having people talk badly about her but in her time being so vulnerable, the person who witnessed it didn’t judge her. Instead, he acknowledged her feelings and offered a safe space for her to release whatever she’s being burdened with. If I were her, I’d think it’s destiny! Lol maybe it is, actually! We’re destined to meet people even though we don’t end up marrying them! *sings For Good from Wicked*

My friend told me she cried so much watching the finale of Red Sleeve. It made me think about which drama made me cry the most. Was it Go Back Couple? Hi Bye Mama? Then it dawned on me. It was Marriage Contract.

I went to watch the last two episodes just to see it I remembered it correctly. Damn. I might have used a box of Kleenex and my chest hurts from the pain. Why did I watch it again? For science? Yeah. That\’s it. For science.

12

I haven’t watched Marriage Contract (I have it on my watchlist tho), but I remember that I cried every single episode of ‘Hi Bye Mama’. Every time Lee Kyu Hyung cried I also did, and he cried ALL THE TIME.

    4
    2

Lol he did! Interestingly, I wasn’t attached to his character there (I started it because of him). The ladies were so awesome, they both took my heart.

      1
      1

Yes, the moms were great ^^ I also cried with them.
I probably cried the whole 16h of the show lol

I cried every episode of hi bye mama, but the one that made me very the hardest was Goblin.

I’ve rewatched all of Marriage Contract before. So good and heartwrenching but so sweet too.

    1
    1

You’re a brave soul! I don’t think I could rewatch the whole thing. It’s really worth the watch though. It was a story we’ve seen so many times but Marriage Contract really put all the sincerity and the heart into the story and the actors were just amazing.

      1
      1

Yes! I’ll always have a soft spot for the actors even if I haven’t followed much of their other dramas. (I love Seojinnie’s variety though)

        1

Na PD really hit jackpot by discovering Seojin lol. He’s a natural.

For me it’s Seven Day Queen. I even rewatched it and yep, it hurt just as much the second time around. But it’s so good (and I’m generally a sageuk avoider).

    2

Omg that one’s a tearjerker too! It hurt so much but it was so good!!

I would have cried at one of the final scenes except a commmercial interrupted and ruined the mood -_-
I have rewatched it and didn’t like it as much the second time but the actors were still great.

Almost 2am and I\’m watching episode 8 of Uncle. I need to stop

is it really that good? i mean to watch something @ 2am takes a good amount of dedication, even if it’s a drama!

    1
    1

It is super good! I started watching around 3pm and stayed up until 2 am lol. And I’m not used to binge watching anymore. I’m someone who gets sleepy at 10pm.

    Then stop! 🤣

    2
    2

I wonder how you manage to be active at both the places man… since i started discord journey, I’m lost there only… and now studies have started again so sneaking sometime to atleast read something abt dramas, if i can’t watch!

      3
      1

My life is busy. 🤣 I have Discord and DB to catch up and play with Beans. I don’t backread on discord much if that helps. I’m there mostly to chat with Beans when I have some free time (which apparently a lot since it’s still school break yay!) and discord has The Void channel that I can just rant (don’t go in there and backread because I want you to remember me as the cute Bean M 😂) so I’m there when I feel distressed. The time will come and you’ll know how much time you wanna spend there and here.

        2

Lol I actually managed to stop myself at 2am thinking of I don’t stop, I won’t have episodes for the next day.

Yessss also how he explained ot to Jihoo. It’s something that’s relatable for everyone. It comforts him just like a blanket would.

Also love how supportive her daughter is and would stand up for him no matter what.
