I know Gramps is a trash can. He deserves to die lonely and sad. But when Shinbot decided to hug and comfort him anyway, damned if I didn’t tear up.
Our little bot wrestled with who he was vs. what was programmed into him, and decided he wanted to be the kind of person who would hug someone when they cried. That’s beautiful.
I find it immeasurably sad that he spent his entire life trying to create the perfect little sociopath only to realise at the end he was completely wrong about everything.

In my mind choosing to be kind even if people are faulty and they don’t necessarily deserve it may be the whole point of the story
