Trolls like this are everywhere, there was an ARMY blog who said things like she wished TOP died when he tried to commit suicide. I reported them and their blog got deleted. Stuff like this is wrong for sure and should be reported. Heck, the link you posted? I just reported that tweet.
But the tweet I posted above? Almost 26k likes for what? Normally I ignore dumb posts like these I know better than to get into fanwars. But that post has twenty effing six thousand likes. The replies are filled with even more trolling and goodness forgive the people who pointed out how dumb the tweet is.
I’m thrilled for BTS getting this nomination, it’s a big deal but God why do the fans have to be so obnoxious about it?
You’re free to disagree ofc but it’s really not like the YG fandoms are any better. Ikonics vs inseos? Ouch. And you’ll notice on DB itself, it’s not the armys posting about view counts or awards or whatever. And for those who claim the older fandoms are so much better – what about the SuJu member that has to stop promoting because he got married?
Fandoms may resemble religious cults but they aren’t. And all fandoms have bad “eggs” (for lack of a better word). Army is vast and its size & visibility gives its bad eggs a platform to gather and bully. But is online bullying limited to the BTS fandom? Is it not something you see everywhere? Trolls are here even on DB. Social media. Laws against cyber bullying.
If you think blinks are better, then it’ll be because the fandom is not as large. But I think blackpink’s fandom rivals army in size so nope.
Re that tweet itself, it happened to appear on my tl. Tweets like the one you posted -about the nomination – or this one – wishing the members harm – rarely ever do. I stay away from fandoms and fan wars. But I’m sure I’ll find many such tweets from people from any fandom including Blinks, about another group. So my intent is not to defend army here – it’s merely my view and experience that literally no other fandom is better.
Also I see nothing wrong with the tweet you posted. Except that there are likely to be many problematic replies to it and/or it encourages such replies. “Can’t wait for Big Bang to finish their army service and dominate the music industry” – I would literally put things in these words if kpop fans were not so competitive. And it’s also a pretty dumb thing to say whilst the companies have had a great year- esp YG, whose artists are still enjoying success rn in 2018.
And that is why I really don’t like this tweet. You didn’t see YG stans dissing other companies for their Red Dot award for album designs in 2014. And SM is known for their artistic covers and logos. And why OP thought it was funny to post (probably knowing that it would rub a lot of people the wrong way) is beyond me.
Re fandom wars: They suck. I was there in the SNSD/2NE1 war (well the end of it), I was there for 2015 BB/EXO award wars (Which Seungri ended by sitting on Sehun’s lap- and now they’re buddies and the fandoms are also buddies) and I was there for Incles vs iKONICs (which completely takes root in WIN- there were a lot bitter feelings about A winning over B and the accusations of YG favoring one group over the other later on as debuts and comebacks happened- which doesn’t happen since YG has favorite individual artists not groups) so I know how bad fanwars get and how all fandoms have the bad ones. Also lets not forget trolls. The people who start the damn wars in the first place.
In fact, I still live by the “Don’t judge a fan by the fandom, don’t judge the fandom by the fan” adage. But sometimes I can’t help but be annoyed by certain fandoms’ attitude, my own included of course- BLINKs, EXO-Ls and VIPs. At the end of the day everyone worked hard to get where they are, including the ones who debuted from the Big3. If anything, as trainees those artists had it 100x times worse since the pressure of being from the Big3 was on them. And just because they’re from the Big3 doesn’t mean they’ll make it big- EXO was called SM’s biggest mistake for more than a year and ridiculed till Growl came out. I just wish people would learn to respect all kpop groups/solos. You don’t need to shade/diss/bring down others to hype your faves. The fact that people place one group over the other is dumb it really depends on the individual fan at the end of the day.
Isn’t Blink about the same size? I must be wrong if I’m the only one saying it. I proceed on the view that the biggest groups have about an equally large fandom. And I DO think army is the largest but exo-ls, blinks, onces – not that far behind. Even vips but they’re much less active since they’re older and have their own lives to deal with.
My own bias groups are BTS and Winner, along with iKon & Big Bang at #2. In kpop, I prefer boygroups and YG’s groups have the best sound to my subjective ears. Im also getting into Zico’s music a little so that’s my bias list. Which means that overall I agree with a lot of your posts such as (personally agreeing) that Love Scenario should sweep the SOTY awards at the ceremonies(but if another group got it, oh well). But this one I disagree with 🙂 to me it’s a funny, harmless joke. And if the OP thinks YG, SM are obsessed with Big Hit, they’re blind.

Yes and YG knows that things will get ugly between fans. I think he doesn’t care about it tho, he’s always given me troll/sadist type vibes. I read about his wife (who’s like 12 years younger to him or something) and was a trainee when the met (eeeeek bad vibes) and he really liked SES’ Eugene and he named their daughter Eugene. Idk man the guy is shady af when it comes to females in general. The way he handled 2ne1 in 2014 was mostly the reason why 2ne1 ended the way the did 🙁 The boys love him tho.

YG even posted about how awesome this year was for the company in terms of digital charts and views. Those figures are exactly why he can get away with his shitty management 🙁
Blackpink + Jennie gave ~40 days on the charts, and more than 600 Million views with 2 MVs. And they get treated like this. UGH
