Beanie level: The Goblin’s underpants

Saying goodbye to QoT with a heavy yet happy heart T_T <3
BaekHong are the OTP of the century for me

So, I really wish we saw their relationship develop more after Hae-in’s post-op amnesia. She clearly had memories coming back to her overtime, I would have loved to see them navigate their relationship in that turbulence and build again.
Eun-seong was ridiculous to the end. That guy seriously needed to be comitted to an asylum ffs
Our BaekHong family really touched my heart. I liked they brought Hae-in’s uncle back in the picture too.
Moh Seul-hee was dumb af. She stole an identity to start anew, but couldn’t keep her greedy hands away from complete control/money like ??? She was a very one dimensional villan and I couldn’t care less about her. It’s like she had nothing but money to live for, she was well off with the chairman but still wanted more. IDK, I never understood her thinking/motivation. But thanks to her, I kinda felt bad for Eun-psycho. Only a little.
Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won nailed their roles to perfection. Heck, the writing was such a mess in the later half of the show, without them I can’t imagine the drama being as big a hit as it is rn.
The villans’ actions managed to bring the Hong family together but at the same time Hong-family’s naive-ness was excessive.
But our main couple and all their supporting characters really breathed life into the drama. The angst hit so well throughout, really tugging at the heartstrings each and everytime. I was a bawling mess when we say angel Hae-in ‘picking up’ Hyun-woo. It was such a beautiful scene.
I would say at the end of the day, QoT is a drama difficult to get over. Gosh, what a ride it was. LOVE the drama to the moon and back!

Hae-in and Hyun-woo are indeed the best part of the drama. 😍♥️

Queen of Tears… the audience is the one they are referencing in the title because I can’t believe I have cried this much for the show.
What is it about QoT that touches my heart so??
I can’t remember the last time I was so swept away by a kdrama…I know some people might say that the writing is all over the place but IMO I think every aspect of the drama is hitting ALL the right spots. Writing, directing, the overall execution, the entire cast…not a single flaw in sight…it’s just THAT drama for my tastes.
I love the side characters being so fleshed out – they aren’t making me skip wanting more OTP, everyone is complimenting each other, and I am thoroughly invested in their arcs.
This drama is electric and I just can’t get enough…even managed to convince hubby to watch it with me! (For context, he struggles with reading so he has a hard time with subtitles and Netflix dub hasn’t caught up to the ongoing episodes yet, but he likes the drama so much that he’s been watching it with me)
Something about Hae-in and Hyun-woo’s relationship just tugs my heart. They clearly love each other and it seems like whilst their relationship broke down, the love kinda hid away but it never truly disappeared. I feel like they are the most realistic characters I’ve seen in their struggles with communication. Something about them just resonates with me and I can’t help but want happiness for them with all my heart.
Oh show, just have a happy ending for Hae-in and Hyun-woo please
Let Hae-in live and then they can get married/stay married and have lots of cute babies aaahhh
I think my vote for favourite character is hands down Hyun-woo’s mom! She’s literally an angel <3

While I believe deep down that they’ll end up together (and fine), I was thinking that one future day their kids will be saying to each other “Gaaah, they STILL can’t just communicate!” 🤦🏼‍♀️

I don’t like bringing politics up anywhere but 2020 might bring the biggest crisis I might face in my life as an Indian citizen and I’m scared. Also this is really difficult to discuss because a huge part of me wants to deny and underplay the things that are happening right now.

I can’t believe the state of my country right now.
Peaceful protesters/students being attacked by the police, universities being invaded, women trying to protect men from being attacked by the police and being threatened for it, and tear gas being thrown in university libraries and at protesters!
The prime minister of the country, the most powerful man in the country stating that “the protesters can be identified by their clothes”. WTF????
Perhaps the worst of it is that mainstream media has completely turned against the protesters, anywhere you go you will see that apparently the violence is due to the protesters. What did they start the violence with? Their bare hands?
I am so scared that by the time 2020 ends, the government would have found a way to declare that I’m not an Indian. My rights as a citizen would be stripped away from me. I probably won’t have access to the internet, like an entire state of the country, Kashmir, doesn’t have (for almost 140 days now). It’s one thing to read this in history textbooks, it’s another thing to see the events unfold right before your eyes. I am bewildered that I will be asked to submit paperwork to prove that I’m a “true” citizen of India, and my grandparents were citizens of India and that I am indeed their grandchild. And the worst part is any documentation I provide could be rejected by the country.
The CAA + NRC Bills that the current “government” (fascist regime is the more accurate term) intend to pass are the reasons for my fear. The government has explained that the CAA bill will be used to grant citizenship to hindus, christians, sikhs, buddhists and jains who are fleeing from neighbouring countries due to religious prosecution. And in that list muslims are not included. On it’s own, the bill is not a problem but taken with the NRC which aims to have citizens registered with documented proof that they belong to India, it’s a huge problem. All aforementioned people from the religions mentioned in the CAA bill will be covered under the CAA for the “documentation proof” needed for registration. Meanwhile, poor muslim citizens who do not have documentation will be labelled as illegal immigrants. And worse yet, the government may even find a way to be rid of those who do provide documentation.
We’ve got SO SO SO many problems. Our citizens are not literate, our economy is in shambles, our poor just keep getting poorer. And now there’s another problem that is starting to top them all, thanks to the government.
I’m not being dramatic, I’m not being paranoid. My country is burning and by my country I mean the India that prides itself for its secularism. This isn’t what the founders of this country spent their lives fighting for, this isn’t what their blood was spilled for while they demanded their freedom. We’re supposed to be unified BECAUSE of our diversity, we’re not supposed to be this nation that divides based on religion.

Apparently, humanity will always find a way to get the wrong people in power, and simply watch while yet another fraction of humans burn to ashes only to become yet another dark corner of history.
I don’t even know what to say anymore. Rant over, I guess.

I know you feel helpless, and I can’t even begin to imagine how you feel. I’m American by birth, but my parents are both from India and we’re Muslim. My mother has nearly no ties left to her home country as nearly all her family has left and the last of their property was sold. My father’s family is there but even they have mostly left. In a generation or two all that we will have left is our brown skin and what few cultural traditions we choose to keep. But watching this happen from afar, while my own country is also in its own political crisis, is breaking my heart. I can’t imagine what you are going through there and I hope you are safe and I hope that things get better. I don’t know that they will or if they can but sometimes clinging to hope is all we can do. All I can say is keep fighting for your rights, even when that feels hard while things are so uncertain.

The government, with the backing of much of the hindu majority, is fully attempting to force this country into a hindu rashtra. :/ The Supreme Court is supposed to protect citizens against government excesses but now appears to be in line with the present regime.

Even on its own, the CAA is unconstitutional. There is simply no need for an exclusionary clause on religious lines. If there are no persecuted Muslims fleeing from the three countries, then it is a pointless clause. If there are, then they ought to be considered for citizenship too. The Act also completely ignores the actual refugee demographic, which DOES include Muslims from other countries (eg the Rohingya from Myanmar) – so there is no way to justify it. It is unconstitutional, communal and goes against the secular fabric of the constitution.

      It is horrifying.

      6
      1

        wait a minute!
Where did the bill say that Indian muslims will lose their right?
you have two countries, solely built on religion.. and if you are not a minority in your country , plus have the entire arab nation.. all muslim nations to chose from.. why should it be India’s liability?

Explain me why this brouhaha is over the bill?

These protests stand for what? The bill has actually not introduced something so inhumane that demands this reaction.. only looks like opposition’s vote bank play

        0
        1

More like the ruling party’s vote bank play. While the economy is in shambles, they’re playing with the constitution and religion, and passing an act that deliberately excludes a certain class of people from a certain benefit on the basis of religion.

Muslims in India have a right to be fearful and angry at this development, and have a right to protest. Similarly, those of us who are not Muslim, but do value equality before the law and a secular nation have a right to protest.

          3
          3

Whose economy doesn’t face issues.. it isn’t just India..
and worse off, India’s economy has a lot of other factors too.. for one, 1.2 Bn population can not get govt jobs

Lastly, it is an entire system that drives economy.. one party just gets lucky if it rules during the “good” times..

And again, you didn’t answer the question – How does the bill play on religion.. how does this affect any minority or existing Indian citizen??

Why should Muslims be angry? what affects equality here? It seems like making issue for the heck of it (I am completely open to points if anyone could actually pinpoint what is wrong with the bill.. other than why another country’s majority population should become India’s liability)

I don’t understand the rationale.. still seems like opposition’s vote bank play (and this community is traditionally their vote bank)

And, it is equally sad to see that all these “protest” find momentum when it comes to certain communities.. and nobody cares about massacres of other communities in India or outside

Need I mention the rising hate against minorities in India? Innocent people have been lynched to death all thanks to religious divisions.
Finally this move by the government is completely unconstitutional. Also, the media is reporting widespread violence by the protests, but that’s a lie. Most protesters have been protesting peacefully.

            3
            0

            @vipsky4796
I need to call out a couple of points which are misrepresented in your argument!

Current policy has 12 yr term for an immigrant to claim citizenship. The change is to reduce this to 5 years for minorities from the countries where these minorities are facing persecution.

The chosen countries (Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan.. etc) indeed raise a very valid concern in terms of plight of the religious minorities. No one is crying foul against that? why? .. Additionally, this treatment of minorities isn’t limited to hindus but to all minorities in these nations (fascist regime indeed across middle east and muslim dominated countries in Asia)

If we are talking about religion prosecution, and these states are very much built as religion specific states, then how does religious persecution apply to Muslims in those countries?

Why would Indian Muslim not have a proof? unless illegal immigrant? Proofs required are birth certificate, ration card, bank card, propertypapers, electoral roll.. where does the unwarranted fear of not being able to show proof come from? UNLESS they are illegal immigrants! and illegal immigrant is illegal immigrant at the end of the day!

Citizenship is decided as per Citizenship Act, 1955. You can’t change that. There are 5 ways to prove your citizenship.. valid for anyone and everyone!

On immigration, straying away from this topic, that is a concern for each country in the world. You don’t want to or rather can’t afford to keep taking in people who don’t need the support and keep de prioritizing your own citizens!Didn’t Europe have a problem with Syrians because they had a legit concern about not knowing who truly is entering their borders?

Coming back to the topic, “govt. may find a way to get rid of those who provide documentation” – if we are going the if-but-else route, then a lot of hypothesis can be built in air.. that is completely non justified..

this is the same government (and this govt. has some major flaws) who has finally brought an end to triple talak.. and supported empowerment of women..

Rising hate against minorities? Then, you need to read India’s history all over again.. there is no rising hate.. this has always been the case.. one party over another.. but all communal riots are result of political parties and religious institutes and people who can’t think for themselves or are easily lured by incentives offered..

Hindus, Biharis, kashmiris, muslims.. who is not prosecuted.. everytime definition of minority changes and hate rises.. don’t make this about Muslims.. it is happening to all of us!!!

            0
            0

How was that a peaceful attack.. they burnt buses..

      and this protest is meaningless..

how does it take away anyone’s rights.. this is a political propaganda and if those “students” are dumb to not apply their own brains that does not give a free card to ruin public infrastructure , hit police and cry victim

I think you lack reading comprehension.
I am about to face a life changing crisis, my family and I might be shipped off to detention centers next year and here you are. Typing nonsense behind a computer screen. You disgust me.

        2
        2

@vipsky I can’t even begin to comprehend what you, your family and the rest of the Indian Muslims are going through. I’m from Pakistan and I have a lot of family in India. I don’t even know how and what I can do to help. Just know that I am, alongside the rest of the world, praying for you and everyone else. You guys are showing incredible bravado and resilience. Keep fighting!

          1
          0

I think you enjoy victimizing yourself or panic over every thing..
Unless you are an illegal immigrant , there is no life changing crisis.. so stop making it out to be one!

And if you are an illegal immigrant then don’t play religion card.. then it is a simple case of illegal immigration!

          0
          0

As a Muslim from Pakistan, this act really horrifies me to no end. It’s demeaning and deliberately cruel. I hope someone intervenes and things can settle down? What will happen to the Muslims?

    4
    2

ha ha.. don’t try to rile up people or tweak the messaging .. this has nothing to do with Muslims..

And given how pakistan has behaved on kashmir, it screams propagating own selfish agenda

It beats me how Pakistan thinks that it is ok for Indians to not have right to their own land Vs pakistanis becoming legally rightful owners of propoerties in india.. and when India tries to do what is right.. imran and majority pakistanis are completely misguiding everyone else

      0
      1

when have i ever said that they don’t have right to their own land? please don’t misconstrue the meaning or skew my words. i’m sure there are respectful ways to disagree or correct me if i am wrong

        3
        2

That is exactly what Article 370 was being used to..
before you criticize or make something look like a heinous treatment, it is your prerogative to know the facts..

You can’t claim to not know facts and state something. Knowing facts and still holding to whatever opinion you have is understandable and is a valid ground for debate.

Entire Pakistani media, Imran khan, most of your celebs, and here on Dramabeans itself.. everyone was ready to jump on the bandwagon of atrocities of removing 370…
          1) Do you know what was Kashmir law doing to actual Indian Kashmiri girls and kashmiri Hindus?
          2) Do you know why it was ok to not criticize massacre of kashmiri hindus and taking away everything from them

Pakistan has no right to speak on any of this.. specially given their role in expanding terrorism here!

Coming onto the bill, again Pakistan is the ONLY country which was built on religion. Hindus have been persecuted for years.. forceful conversions, rape of girls.. and if this country was built for Muslims ( bangladesh split much later, that was also East Pakistan right?) where hindus have diminished at such an alarming rate.. then why should India bear the liability of giving citizenships to Muslims from these countries ( not only the neighbouring countries are their homes but the community has much wider access to better countries like in the middle east)?

Why is it ok for other countries in west to choose and have stringent process to allow / not allow refugees.. but India has to stand this trial of playing a religion based politics play?

          0
          3

So, basically, what you’re saying is that every Muslim who lives in India should be persecuted and/or deported? Is that right? Ok. Thanks. Please don’t talk to me ever again.

            3
            0

“India has to stand this trial of playing a religion based politics play?”
INDIA IS A SECULAR NATION. WE DO NOT DIVIDE BASED ON RELIGIONS.
How dare you. I should not have to prove to you or anyone else that I am an Indian just because I worship a different God.
My ancestors were born and raised there, my passport says I’m an Indian, I pay my taxes, my education is Indian. On what basis does the government have any right to prosecute me?

            3
            0

            @vipsky4796 How dare you!

Giving something the color of religion based politics and propagating communal riot is what kind of nationality!

You guys are trying to give it a spin of not being secular.. how does this hamper a legal immigrants or existing Indian muslim’s right

So, don;t even pretend to throw around that attitude with me..

            0
            0

@zgs1994 What I am saying is that the bill is not taking away any rights from legal immigrants or Muslims of India.

So, you need to stop preaching hate or twisting the bill’s impact..

And given how majority of Pakistan reacted to 370, completely ignoring the truth and propagating lies and still trying to do so internationally speaks volume about the “true” nature of concern!

How come you can’t go after China for what they are doing to Muslims.. but no.. India is a softer target so people love to spin the truth around!

          0
          0

Hi, zgs! I’m a Hindu from India, and just wanted to say not all of us support the Act. It is indeed deliberately cruel.

Don’t go by them. If you check twitter hashtags #IndiaAgainstCAA and #CAAProtests, among others, you’ll see that many of us are protesting. Many cities are seeing protests and it’s not just Muslims who are part of the protests. I don’t know what we can change given the present govt, but we’re trying.

Unbelievable.. not one of you has a valid argument on how this is taking away rights of people.. and just jumping on the hate bandwagon!

Given what India is.. nobody would support a true rights violation.. but clearly it doesn’t make sense to think calmly about it..

Never Twice, or as it’s called here, No Second Chances. It’s a weekender, but despite the familiarity of the tropes, the quality of the writing and acting are making this a really enjoyable watch. Honestly, Park Se-wan and Kwak Dong-yun and the best thing on my screen right now. They make me smile.

I enjoyed the first episode of Crash Landing.

Anyways. I’m enjoying stove league. I didn’t have any expectations and I don’t know what to expect from a sports drama. But 2 episodes in and I’m intrigued for more.

Also watched Crash Landing ep 1. I kinda like it, not very enthusiastic about it though, I haven’t watched ep 2 yet.

It\'s kind of ridiculous- the extent to which I\'m invested in this show- I don\'t even know how this happened but the characters just pull on my heartstrings. It\'s the first time I\'ve ever felt like this about a kdrama.
I\'m not ready for the last episode, but it\'s here already.
