Angels Last Mission #14
Beanies, I think we have been trolled by the writer to think that maybe this was some kind of theological treatise on christianity – or not. But after last night’s episode I now just think this is a simple fantasy and nothing else. But the discussions have been fun and interesting.

The acting by the two leads gets better with each episode.
Watching the looks that cross Yeon-soo’s face as she starts to remember and feel and grieve is really hard to not feel and grieve with her. What an amazing actress.

Even L has gotten better (I’m sure she has helped guide him ) and his grief is also so evident that my heart hurts for the both of them.
The story has become a sort of Romeo and Juliet kind of arc.

So. Here are my thoughts, take or leave them.
Someone at one point suggested the butler (sorry can’t remember her name) was an angel and it seems plausible. But what if she were really a form of the deity itself? She certainly seems to ‘know’ and understand things very well.
Kim Dan is not capable of killing anyone – but Ji Kang-Woo might be. What if he sacrifices himself instead for the two of them?
This may not be christianity-based, but why do they have to go into a catholic church and kneel in front of the altar?
The love between these two feels so real – the kisses are sooooo intense – it’s hard to imagine they aren’t feeling something emotionally. I mean, whew!
LOVED the short dance with Ni-na and Yeon-soo…

    LOL @stpauligurl

I’ve yet to watch the ending of the most recent episode, but I was already of the opinion that the Catholic Church is nothing but a convenient ‘backdrop’ for the story that is, as you say, ‘simple fantasy’. Writer conveniently takes what he wants from some aspects of Catholicism/Christianity, without bothering if it holds up consistently.

That’s a cute idea about Jung. Since in Goblin, the kid could be inhabited by the deity, it’s entirely possible for Jung to be god as well!

I wish they use folklore or fairy tales as a based tbh, easier for creative interpretation than religion. At least the discussion will take a different direction than what we had before 😅😅

yep – I agree. But it did spark some interesting discussions…..
Though, why use a catholic church? I guess all the pomp and bells/smells atmosphere helps to build the sense of mysticism…
