Were they adopted as infants? What is interesting is my oldest son (claims) he wants NOTHING to do with South Korea. But his younger brother taught English there and learned to speak some Korean. He even contacted his birth mother when he was there, but sadly she wasn’t ready to meet him.
However both of them grew up with best friends who were also adopted Koreans.
I’m what’s called an “airport mom”.
That’s interesting! both my best friend and her brother were adopted as infants. My friend claims I’m more Korean than she is though. I also have a patient who was adopted from Korea (who I thought looked Vietnamese when I met her and I’m inclined to think that he does have some Viet in her) and her son is actually very proud of his Korean heritage. We talk about how he has the flag and is into Kpop and the all girl group posters hanging in his room when I see her. It’s pretty interesting how your sons gravitated to friends of the same nationality as well.

Thank you for that link. As a mom of two sons adopted from South Korea as infants I’m always looking for some way to connect and understand.

That’s amazing! My best friend in college was adopted from Korea, as was her brother.
