If I were to write recaps for DB, “I Can Hear Your Song” would be my tryout drama. There are so many classical music pieces that are not subtitled that I could help decipher! The piano piece played in episode 3 is Chopin’s Nocturne in C# minor which is one of my favorites because it let me take second place in the state my senior year in high school. It’s one of the few pieces that I can still play 25 years later. And it also holds special meaning because it’s in “The Pianist,” a movie about a Jewish man who survived the Holocaust. This is him playing it. https://youtu.be/n9oQEa-d5rU Now go watch the movie with a boatload of tissues everyone! You have to play this with emotion because it’s not that difficult technically, but very difficult to get the right feel out of it.
I think she’s supposed to be up to a professional level. I’m no tympanist, but the editing of the scenes where she plays is actually really good, making it look like she really is playing. I may be totally wrong, but real life percussionists play more than just the tympani, so a tryout would be on other instruments too, I would think.

So what do you think of her skill as a musician?
Is she supposed to be good but not up to orchestra level?
