So, I’m watching My First First Love right now and one of the things I really like about this drama is how the leads never say that they don’t see one another as a man/woman like most friends-to-lovers dramas do; instead they seem to recognize and acknowledge their attraction but also realize that the relationship they have right then is more important. I like how frank Song-yi was about it when Do-hyun asked her whether she’d ever had feelings for Tae-oh, and how she didn’t skirt around the subject or brush it off, but instead was honest but also clear that she was committed to the relationship in front of her.
I also like how the relationships that Song-yi and Tae-oh are in feel real and not just like they’re killing time until they get to the other. Though Tae-oh’s girlfriend is The Worst and an evil manipulative spoiled brat and I can’t wait to see the last of her. But Do-hyun and Song-yi are adorable, and I’m curious as to how they end, because I think they have genuine feelings and if it weren’t for Tae-oh I could really root for them.
But also, these two dummies clearly love one another and I need them together ASAP.
