I found the character of Dong Mae so fascinating, that I wrote a fanfic all for him:

I still haven’t decided whether I want to make him live, or kill him off. What do you think, guys?

Definitely, kill him off. I’m a sucker for loving a character that ends up dying. It makes me love them more. I might be a little masochistic.

I tend to remember the dramas that end tragically, more than the ones that have happy endings. I guess I’ll kill him off, not sure how as yet – harakiri, sacrifice, fatal stabbing/ shooting – so many ways to die, it’s mind-boggling. Next question: will she love him back, or will she love Eugene only, so that my hero pines away in unrequited love? Or will she love both men, in different ways? Or will she marry one, and take the other as a lover? Will she not marry either, in which case, will she stay chaste till the end, or consummate, attention: @tacourtn, with one, which one, or both? Will she end up with the potter and spend the remainder of her life pottering, and yearning for her one true love?

You could do a “Legends of the Fall” (I loved that movie) where she’s with both, but only after one dies. So yes, definitely have her with Dong-Mae, a secret, tumultuous relationship before he dies. And then go to Eugene with Dong-Mae’s child. Omg, the angst and tension, but then Eugene would be the best father to this son of his frenemy, because he’s just that honorable. Then you’d have another character to write about, the son of Dong Mae and Ae-shin raised by Eugene. Or better yet, make Ae-shin die when that child is young. Are you sure you don’t want me to write this? Lol.

Legends of the Fall omg, I loveeeeed that movie!!!!! I remember the pain I felt watching it, that poor, poor girl. *cries*

Kyle adopts the child, and brings him back to America, where he grows up, and opens a butcher shop, true to his roots, and speaks English better than Kyle.

Anyway, I read that ratings are falling because of the slow pace of the plot. At this rate, she’ll be old and grey by the time Eugene takes the momentous step to elope with her, because he’s got to spend five episodes planning the elopement, and another five, marrying her, and another five, consummating, so that by the time they have the bed scene, it’s like ten years have passed, and it’s 1912. 🤤
