Han Ji-hye takes on shoe designing

She’s known for having a flair for fashion, and she rocks the red carpet more often than not. Now actress Han Ji-hye, like fellow fashion dabblers Rain and Yoon Eun-hye, is trying her hand — er, foot? — at fashion design. Shoe design, to be exact.

Just coming off the popular melodrama East of Eden, Han Ji-hye will be joining with fashion shoe brand “Jinny Kim” to create a look to appeal to the 20- and 30-something young-‘n’-stylish set. Han explains, “I always enjoy taking on new challenges. I admit that the process of learning something new from the bottom up is a little beyond me, but I’m enjoying learning day by day.”

(Psst, I’m sure the shoes will be cute, but shouldn’t the learning come before the actual designing?)

Han Ji Hye is close to being a fashion icon and frankly she's way, way overdue for her own line. But footwear design really isn't easy, since you need to have some knowledge of ergonomics. Presumably, she'll relay her concepts to footwear designers and go from there.

It's also a welcome break for her. Between Likable or Not, East of Eden, and Humming, she's been, but for 2 months, constantly working since the fall of 2007.

lol.

True, but I look extremely forward to what she's gonna create~ ^^

edit: After looking at the picture for quite some time, I dislike the shoe choice for the dress (or was it dress choice for the shoe) -_- Maybe I lack fashion sense, but... it doesnt look that good...... >.>

She's taking this seriously ..in her announced schedule ..Mid-March - Mid April, Jihye will go to Firenze(Florence) Italy to take a short course on shoe designing. This is in preparation for launching of her shoe designs in June.

the pic above is from her korean March edition of Cosmopoloitan magazine..
the shoes weird for the dress but I think its photoshoot concept...

I actually quite like the choice of shoe with the dress. I think the obvious choices of pink flats or a girly strappy sandal would have made the look too saccharine. Instead, the black booties are a nice contrast, but the laces and bow reign the look back in a bit. I think it all strikes a good balance. Either that, or I'm terribly impartial because I have been lusting after black patent leather booties for FOREVER, and hers are just BEAUTIFUL.

"is it just me or has she grown thinner?"

She lost a lot of weight, yeah. That's usually a sign of a strenuous shot, which East of Eden was. Everyone on that show looked haggard by the end. Except for Jo Min Ki. I'm sure he wanted to play Shin Tae Hwan for the rest of his career. :D

Jo Min Ki is totally not like Shin Tae Hwan outside of the scenes of EOE. I just watched a variety show where he was one of the guests, and he's so funny and ACTUALLY CUTE the way he acts. And I think his bleached blonde/gray hair suits him even when he's not playing Shin Tae Hwan. I hope to see more of him and not just as a villain, but playing someone more like his own personality.

I love the composition of this photo. It's technically very very good. Everything looks soft and feminine in contrast to the bold black shoes, thus focusing my attention towards the shoes. Though personally, I won't wear those kind of shoes with that flimsy pastel dress...but still, I love the total get up!

"Jo Min Ki is totally not like Shin Tae Hwan outside of the scenes of EOE. "

Jo Min Ki (was Lee Jung Ki's original dad in Iljimae) is a total sweetheart, and he usually plays fatherly, good guy roles. (That warm paternalism inevitably comes out even when he played the Shin Tae Hwan role.) Evil has rarely been so adorable. :D

Hmmm. I use to have a pair of shoes like those in the '80's. But it didn't occur to me to wear them with a frilly pink dress. :)

when celebs say they "design" it's not that they actually design anything or know anything of actual design process or work, it just means they're standing behind the real designer whose name we do not recognize most times and endorse their products. Oh she might get to pick a color of the shoe or something little like that and say she was part of the design team.
