Extended 15 min trailer for Playful Kiss

Just yesterday we had the new teaser for Playful Kiss, and now there’s a longer cut available (thanks to everyone who sent it to me!). I don’t actually think it’s an official trailer — it feels kind of rough — but it gives us an extended look at the drama.

It seems like Boys Before Flowers has been the main point of comparison for this show, but I’m getting a much more Goong-like vibe, which in my mind is a very good thing. It’s no surprise, either, since PD Hwang In-roi directed Goong; one of my favorite aspects of that drama was its time spent in the school, which seems to be a key point of this story as well.

Furthermore, lead actress Jung So-min has already been called a “Little Yoon Eun-hye” for her facial resemblance to her (if you ignore her eyes, in some angles they look eerily similar), and I anticipate that this role will solidify that image — not only does she have the physical similarity, but similar character mannerisms of Chae-kyung, the role that made Yoon a superstar.

(I still think Kim Hyun-joong looks a bit old for her, but I’m hoping for solid chemistry.)

about Sblabla scandal(sry can't spell it) I know they released a few trailers... yet I didn't check them yet...

dunno maybe a Joseon Hana Kimi... is not on everybody's taste...we should accept that

after me Playful kiss will be a big deal if they get over 15% in second week... but the chances are very slim... but hell yes on-line the stir is high to he sky

like it or not but she must accept the fact if sungkyunkwan Scandal has a good chance for ratings, drama SKKS considered can affect the rating Giant drama, this means skks quite nice and fit ..of course..
everyone likes dong yi, why not for SKKS? I think everyone was afraid that if SKKS will be more famous than PK, so most sites do not publish SKKS drama trailer..there is odd here..
the fact, I've tried to send some information about the trailer but they did not publish it, too, there was something strange here ..
sorry but the main character from sungkyunkwan Scandal has a lot of praise in his acting this is will be a huge drama.. you must be realistic and be fair girls, try to accept reality..

how can you think of the drama skks not feasible but you just have not seen the trailer? ^.^
so far skks drama covered well by the Japanese and Korean media and some other state media ..
and the Korean government helped a lot of money for skks ..whether this is less promising?

I expect both drama gets a good rating ..

I never commented on S...Scandal... because I'm not interested... yet (I will verify the drama though)

That drama doesn't have anything to do with Wed&Thu timeslot(better read BigTimeWarRatingsSlot) which was lost to Baker King in big style by both SBS and MBC- the last one even had a bet on big budget..-hoax- nobody is looking at Road no1 even it has a studded star cast(just sneak a peak to their cast)

SBS is working hard with MGIAG and now they have a steady viewership at 14%... but let's see next week...and Baker King has 44%

btw javabeans chose NOT TO recap Baker King and I didn't saw someone badmouthing or forcing her to do one... and believe me constant 44% ratings for weeks... is national drama

again if you read PK's articles comments you will find that she will recap PK IF she will like the drama

and its normal courtesy not to command in other ppl's house

Will be against the toughest dramas I've seen all year. Takgoo already has the hearts of all Korean ajummas. And Gumiho has successfully captured all the Korean teens. However I wish them the best luck. Will tune in for like five episodes and see if hyun joong shocks me with amazing acting. Which I desperately want. ^^

if u've watched the jap and taiwan versions u would notice that the actors portraying this character all had to portray a similar stiffness and coldness...

hm...am not a fan of hyun joong though ahahahs

the actress actually looks pretty normal...but she does a an expressive face which is interesting haha [=

Itazura na Kiss does remind me of Goong sometimes. I just finished the Japanese version (which was short and sweet), and currently watching the anime. The characters and plot reminded me of Goong a lot, not Boys before Flowers. Itazura na Kiss came out first though, which started in 1991, while Goong started in 2002. Gah, who am I kidding. Most plots and characters like these are pretty common in shoujo mangas anyway.

Honestly the character of the mother is adorable in general but after seeing the taiwanese version who was completely - and I mean completely - spot on... I think watching Jung Hye Young might make me feel like I'm watching a lesser copy even though I think she's a credible actress.

But Jung So Min is still adorable to me. Her look is refreshing in an age of plastic surgery.

Actually, i hate to admit it but it looks interesting and better than what i expected and KHJ is Jihoo-sunbae NOMORE... at least that's what i'm feeling so far. I hope he really improved, i find this character suit him better than Jihoo? Hahaha..

and like mcjayjay, i wish to see more news of Sungkyunkwan Scandal too, i thought the teasers looked quite promising with the adorable Song Joong Ki<33

The ambience and feel of the drama reminds me of Goong too which is what i'm anticipating for since Goong is actually quite a well-made drama even though there's frustrating parts, definitely more well-made than the eyecandy BOF.

Next up in my list will be PK and SC.. they look promising.. i'm just glad they're not competing with each other. Have been away from kdramas for quite some time lately..

I'm so excited for Playful Kiss to begin airing next week! After watching this 15 min. preview the show is beginning to take shape and look more promising.

I like that there is a Goong vibe to the show and can see some similarities between characters and the filming. I'm not really getting any Boys Before Flowers vibe from Playful Kiss, so I don't really see how there are similarities between the two. If someone can point those out for me please do so.

(Side Note: The really need to change the hairstyle of the second male lead here. It just looks so cartoonish and distracted me from all his scenes. That style would look awesome if they updated/changed it a bit.)

Also, forgot to add that I love the portrayal that the lead actress (Jung So Min) is giving to the character, she doesn't seem too overly annoying or dumb. I liked the Taiwanese version, but there were times when Ariel Lin just made the character seem so dense, clingy, and annoying.

I don't think she looks ANYTHING like Yoon Eun Hye but I do see resemblance in their characters (YEH from GOONG), that's it.

Anyway, I have a feeling this will fall into the same category as BOF, Shining Inheritance, and You're Beautiful. It'll be mainstream popular, but I will some how hate it due to its immaturity and lack of depth!

Although, this one does look a little bit more promising than BOF (which I completely & dreadfully hated!). I did love GOONG though so maybe with the same directions, I may like Playful Kiss. I just won't be on it. ;-)

No, totally thought that scene was inappropriately funny.

0
reply

Required fields are marked *

No, I liked that scene too and I actually found that to be hopeful for Playful Kiss. When I watched the t-drama ISWAK, there was one scene at which point I got disgusted with the female lead and couldn't stomach it to continue watching. The lead was in a crowded bus when a perverted man started harassing her by feeling her butt up her skirt. What did she do? Absolutely nothing, just pray for someone to rescue her in her head.

Don't get me wrong. I'm far from being much of a feminist, having watched kdramas for over 20 years now. But when someone is feeling your butt in a crowded bus and you don't have the courage to either slap him or yell for help, you at least MOVE from where you're standing at instead of just standing there hoping someone would notice and swipe you off your feet!!!

I can stand naive female leads. I can stand stupid female leads. I can stand helpless female leads. But when a female is portrayed as naive, stupid, and helpless, you lose me. Are you listening, Director Hwang? Don't disappoint me!

Sorry, I get really worked up every time I think about that scene again.

0

reply

Required fields are marked *

I absolutely agree!

To be honest, Ariel Lin's portrayal was the main reason I couldn't stand ISWAK. It really is a shame since it's not all Ariel's fault but damn did I get annoyed.

Same here, I can deal with naive and clumsy but I can't stand stupid and helpless.

This is why I'm really looking forward to PK and hoping it will be better than ISWAK because I didn't have fun watching that one... I fast forwarded so many times.

Required fields are marked *

I totally agreed with you but I think the bad points in Ariel's character in season one showed growth and development in season two. I rewatched both seasons last month and to tell you the truth, I couldn't stomach watching the first one. Fast Forward, fast forward, fast forward!!!! But the second season, I could finally see a guy that could compete with the male lead. I mean seriously, how can there be so many girls in love with the male lead but all the guys falling for the female lead are never really portrayed as competition?

I actually think Playful Kiss has a lot of promise. I was laughing in quite a few of the scenes already.

The scene where Jung so min dresses in the black suit and heels really make her look like Eun Hye. I think it but be the eyeliner. I don't like this scene particularly though because we all know that it is probably going to be apart of a dream or fantasy so shouldn't Hyun joong have a different personality that makes him laughable? Kind of like the fantasy scenes in You are Beautiful?

I don't know if I was so upset at her character, she is a young girl who is being overpowered and shamed. She lives in a society where she will be humiliated more if she says something. I can't say that I would do the same thing, but I feel her pain of feeling helpless in that situation.

I was mad that it took so damn long for the male lead to go help her. Actually I am mad that NOBODY conveniently saw and did nothing.

Perhaps you're right that it is a cultural difference. I've mostly watched American shows and K-dramas, two cultures that I'm very familiar with.

I think Playful Kiss is going to replace the "daytime bus scene" with the "trenchcoat guy flashing JSM's character at nighttime scene." I think this is a great modification because it makes sense to me that she would be humiliated and threatened in that situation, and would hope for her Prince Charming to come rescue her there.

Observational list:

K that she can all the SuJu members cracks me up to no end, but the fact they are giving her dream sequences to inject more comedy into this show is a very good sign. I hope they don't over do them, cause a little can go a long way with that sort of thing.

They also appear to have comedy-fied the female lead's father. He wasn't so goofy in any other version.

The Kotoko character itself appears to have taken a turn some would say for the better. She is not incompetent in everything she does. (ie. be called to get the stuck drink from the machine) And appears to have a touch more fight in her.

Hyun Joong, if you watch his first scene he recorded, the walk to school, his acting is not good. If you look at his acting during her studying scenes it is not as bad. dare I say passible. So maybe he gets better with time and practice.

The Ah Jin character, second male lead, is very good for the tone of this sillier version, but I am a bit concerned as to how they will change his character later on to be a viable alternative if he starts out this off the wall.

Overall pleased with the result so far. It should be a light silly cute story from what I see. Not exactly what I was expecting, but that isn't always a bad thing.

Joe looked good for a few seconds at a time depending if the camera angle is super good. I didn't like the Taiwan version because i guess both acted too good in character, him being too snobbish and her being so stupid/clueless. I actually like Jiro Wang in that drama. For this NK, i'll wait before i comment. Kudos to Hyun Joong though cuz he knows about all the criticism tossed at him and I guess so does the production people/company. Obviously there's enough of something to be worthwhile/money making for the go ahead of this drama. Again, i personally love BOF as my all time favorite. Lee Min Ho and Goo Hye Sun were just darlings. KHJ is 2nd male lead and he did a pretty good job at it for the drama to be super popular. Just a few days away. Let's see.
