L’s character stills for Shut Up: Flower Boy Band

Idol-turned-actor L from the group Infinite is the second rocker boy to get his character stills released for upcoming drama Shut Up: Flower Boy Band, after series lead Sung Joon. That seems appropriate; Groupie Law says lead singer first, then the guitarist, right?
L looks like the most buttoned-up rock guitarist ever, but he’s playing the chic, pulled-together member; he can leave the bird’s-nest hair to his vocalist bandmate. Fitting, I suppose, that his character also goes by the nickname “Ice Prince.”
I’m guessing we’ll see the stills trickle out one by one till we’ve got the rest of the cast covered. In case you’re counting, we’ve got three boys left to go: Lee Hyun-jae, the drummer of rock band Mate as well as the drama’s fictional band; Kim Min-seok from reality program Superstar K 3; and Yoo Min-kyu, plucked from Flower Boy Casting: Oh! Boy.
Shut Up: Flower Boy Band is a Monday-Tuesday drama that airs on tvN beginning January 30.

Kya! I can't take the hotness. xD Love L! Just curious, has he had any acting experience? I'm worried that he's gonna be awkward while acting, kinda like Yoona. (Not bashing Yoona! I'm a SNSD fan too! :o)

In Jiu, L had short scenes, spoke in Japanese (poorly), had extremely little lines, and was stiff. Very stiff.
He might as well be the Kim Hyun Joong of this F4.
Charismatic in everything but dramas.

Biscuit, while I'm generally more optimistic and try to give newer actors a chance, I'll have to agree.
Poor L looks exactly. the. same. even when he's not acting (as opposed to most idols, including KHJ, who were able to 'fake it' well enough on variety tv) :D. But, I guess that just gives him room to grow?

I think JiHoo was ok for a beginner(actually I liked him a lot despite the mishaps) , but his choice for Baek Seung Jo proved to be not the wisest choice - you know the robot boys from The Bing Bang Theory - they have the script and the nuances to play robots while KHJ's stiffness as Baek Seung Jo didn't make any good to him, neither the script - you know robot boys have imagination(to be fun for us to watch), however the Vulcanian character versus Andorian hotness that Oh HaNi was worked up very well for so many people.
Vulcans and Andorians are races in Star Trek. Vulcans are an extraterrestrial humanoid species in the Star Trek universe who evolved on the planet Vulcan, and are noted for their attempt to live by reason and logic with no interference from emotion.

I didn't make his critical appraisal. Who says I've seen the drama? BTW the last 2 episodes have English subs? Because I'll watch it when the translation is finished.

I didn't assume you watched it. I was making a comment on his role in Jiu.

I'll still admit he's good eye-candy and hopefully acting in Korean will be better for him.

Haha, I'm sure many fangirls (like me) thought that too! I haven't had the time to watch it yet, what with the new influx of Kdramas, but I wanted to watch it after my exams. Now I'm not so sure if I want to...but anything for L, right? <3

Okay, I have to admit I'm digging the shaggy-dog-doo on L - (wait...that didn't sound right...).
And JB's right - what's up with the choreography? I don't see FT Island or CNBlue kicking up heels during their concerts, so now I wonder how the Boy Band is going to be presented. It's kinda hard to do a twirl with a drum set attached to your butt.

I, too, don't get the need for dance moves unless they're doing a dance number in the show. That would be cool, too. Can't wait! So many cool shows coming out this month, how will I choose which one to watch?! Or... I could just watch all of them. Heh.

I wanted to real a REAL rock band. As in: a group of boys bonding together making music and performing.
I don't want them to end up being idols that use instruments instead of dancing. Unless, judging by the pictures, they might be doing both...

That didn't make sense. Simply, this is a flower boy show... BUT, I appreciated what Ramyun Shop did with it's boys. Gave them layers and was more about character growth then simply staring (hard) at the pretty.
I don't want another YAB. YAB had a band. But the focus wasn't on it's members and them bonding closer. I want something that goes more into the core of music and performing.

Yay!!! Myungsooo!!!! Bet he can do 'ice prince' while sleeping coz that is just like him in real life. ( if real life based on sesame player and various BTS, of course!!!) I dunno about dance choreography tho. Rock group with perfectly choreographed dance kinda off. Besides, how they'll dance with all their guitars & drum?

Why are they practicing in the Starship Entertainment practice rooms? Lol. I've seen enough Sistar and Boyfriend practice vids to recognize their practice rooms. Weird. And I don't know why they would have choreo.
But Myungsoo looks hot! As he always does. I find it interesting how his character is similar to his onstage persona in Infinite - Ice prince. So not too much of a stretch for him as he's been playing that character for over a year now. Lol.

Oh, me too. I've been watching LHJ on "Color of Woman" and his character is cute but kinda corny so I'm really hoping for his innate hotness to show up in the upcoming pictures. Crossing fingers and toes...
I have to say, though, that although I didn't see the appeal of L at first, he really does look awesome in these pics. I love the bad boy-ish expression on his face.

Don't know anything about any of the Flower Boy Band cast, but seeing these stills has started piquing my interest a little. My first thought when I glanced at it was: "Hey, he's pretty cute." The trickling effect of one-by-one showing character stills isn't such a bad idea -- now I'm interested in seeing the rest of the stills.

Wait, does anyone know if he can ACTUALLY play guitar?
That seems a kind of redundant question...he doesn't even seem to be holding the guitar properly >_< so if this idol boy purportedly can't act, can't play guitar, is he in the show just for looks?

Well, he might not be good enough to play in an actual band, so I don't know if he'll play his parts in the drama himself, but seeing as I'm an Inspirit and I know all of them have an enourmous self-discipline and try mastering whatever they can (part of the reason why I became a fan, I have never seen any group work so hard), I can totally imagine that he skipped sleep and focused on getting better on the guitar only for this drama, especially since he doesn't have to start from zero.
I know that would be granted for actors, I mean actors get fat and then get back to being really thin for certain roles, but seeing this person isn't even an actor in the first place...which could prove to be a disadvantage, but I know he'll give it his best and that his best will be good enough to at least satisfy me. :)
As for how he is holding the guitar...well, he's not that good or at least didn't show his skills publicly yet, but I have seen him holding a guitar properly, so I guess...it's just the shoot. The aim of a shoot is to make cool photos, and if L looks cooler holding the guitar in a wrong manner...why not. xD
As long as he holds it right during the drama, which I know he will. :)

ohmygawd!!! he's so pretty...but knowing from his past jdrama i know he's going to be stiff... let's just hope in this drama, he really gets good directions from the directors and is improved *crosses fingers* i guess you can't have it all...but that only gives him more room to grow. honestly, i don't see a very long future with him as a singer...but if he starts acting now, i'm sure he'll be great in a few years.
