Here’s a look at upcoming tvN series Shut Up: Flower Boy Band‘s leading man Sung Joon (Lie to Me) rockin’ out in character as the band’s lead singer. That be some craaazy hair, rocker boy. But I have to say, he’s somehow making it all work, mostly with that attitude he’s sporting. He could be wearing a caftan and a pink wig and still be giving off Shut up. Imma sing now.
It’s a 16-episode drama about youth, love, and rock n’ roll, and though it’s a familiar (and getting over-saturated) setup for dramas of late, at least this one’s got a decidedly rock and indie flavor, which will be a welcome change of pace. Sung Joon plays the band’s leader and singer; L (Infinite) plays guitarist; Lee Hyun-jae (Mate) the drummer; Kim Min-seok (Superstar K3) on keyboard; and Yoo Min-kyu (Oh! Boy audition winner) on bass.
Though they seem a little old to be a high school garage band (or a rooftop one, as the teaser goes), I’m looking forward to Dream High‘s cooler, hotter cousin. ‘Cause don’tcha know, rock is always hotter.
Shut Up: Flower Boy Band premieres Monday January 30 on tvN.

He IS young. Believe it or not he was born in 1990. So that makes him 21 in Western age. Which means that he is younger than Kim Soo-hyun.

OMG you HAVE NO IDEA…this is exactly the kind of thing I loved and searched for and watched before my brain was turned to jelly by pretty little Korean boys and hunky post-Army Korean men. It feels SO GOOD to be watching a movie and not have ANY idea what’s coming next.
I know!!! It was so refreshing to watch something out of the norm. The producers told they wanted to do a well-done drama, and it shows. Great stuff.
I cannot wait for this drama! Talk about eye candy, I thought he was hot in Lie to Me and now HOT HOT HOT. Also helps that L from Infinite is mighty fine too. Now I just hope for a solid script… fingers crossed it’s not just all pretty boys and fluff.

…And with Sung Joon I have officially become a noona. I’ve always loved the noona slayers–Song Joong Ki, Yoon Shi Yoon–but they’ve always been older than me. But this guy was born in 1990! 1990! In my mind people grow up in the nineties, they aren’t born in them.
From the previews it looks like they are actually a rock band, as in screaming and breaking things. More Smashing Pumpkins and less Journey, which I’m all in for. 2012′s off to a good start.
Sigh…in my mind, people born in the 90s haven’t even grown up yet. That’s my daughter and her friends!

Forget the girl. Can’t this be a drama just be about bromance and rock-n-roll?
I’m not saying girls shouldn’t be in it, I’m saying that they shouldn’t play romantic interests, and those romances should not be the main focus of the drama. Let’s focus on how awesome the band is~
This feels like the vibe i’m getting from What’s Up (which i have yet to watch and still debating about whether to start or not) but this sounds good, and i can’t believe no one mentioned L (myungsoo) in the comments!! He’ll be my eyecandy for this drama if i watch it lmao (phew he’s a few months older than me), even though there is probably more than enough eye candy to go around. Though he’s an idol, i think he acted in a japanese drama? and hope this role isn’t too demanding though his voice is good so he ever needs to sing *swoons in the corner.. by myself* Hoping for good acting, humour, storyline and heart!
