UEE confirms weekend drama Gold Rainbow

I’d pretty much figured UEE was going to sign on to Gold Rainbow, but now we have the official confirmation, as well as photos of her at the script reading for the weekend MBC family drama.
She’ll play the eldest sister in a family of orphans and will get a nice head start with child star Kim Yoo-jung playing her younger self in the drama’s earlier childhood portion. Described as having a tomboyish personality with a strong sense of justice, she can be tough when up against tough adversaries but softens when she’s with the weak. Sounds like a bright and plucky type, which should be right up UEE’s alley after her roles in Ojakkyo Brothers and Birdie Buddy.
In fact, I suspect that all the orphan characters will benefit from the childhood years; you’ll recognize some of the young faces below from having tugged at your hearts in previous shows. Among the kiddos: six-year-old Choi Ro-un, who played the adorable bowl-haircut-wearing young Joo-won role in Good Doctor; nine-year-old Ahn Seo-hyun, who was precocious in Shark and Baby-Faced Beauty; and ten-year-old Jung Yoon-seok, who had roles in the currently airing Her Legend and Scandal.
Heading the family of seven orphans is adoptive dad Kim Sang-joong (The Chaser, City Hunter) and, like May Queen (the previous drama from this production team, May Queen Pictures), it’ll have a marine motif—the show is set in the world of aquaculture and the Maritime Institute. I have no idea how that actually relates to the plot, but hey, it’s in the drama description.
Gold Rainbow begins filming this month and and premieres in November following Scandal.

Hmm.. where have I seen that description before :)
The premise and location actually sounds somewhat interesting and at least semi-original, so will keep a lookout for it. Hopefully it won't end up as some makjang mess.

I'm not even excited for UEE, look at those kids! I recognize the girl from Babo Mommy and she is SUCH AN EXCELLENT LITTLE ACTRESS. She exudes maturity into her roles, despite being so young. I don't know how she does it. She doesn't overdo the "cutesy" act (i.e. girl from Two Weeks). Also, baby Joo Won??!$%

Hey! Isn't that mini Joo-won right there? He's absolutely adorbs! I might try the first few episodes just to support UEE, but I'm not a huge fan of weekend dramas (too much makjang..) so we'll see..

at least he is adopting legally now. I still kinda get shivers though whenever I see him.
Really REALLY want to watch the drama ONLY to get a different image of him

The mini JW was also in Big, and he was sooo cute there as well. I really love the cast, reeeeally!!!! Kim Sang-joong is one of my favorite Korean actors, I discovered him in CH. I am not sure if I could commit to a 50 ep. weekend drama however, as much as I would want to see them weekly on my screen, especially the children. They are really good actors, and they are so cute...

happy for Uee, but I'm not too excited at the prospect of a weekend family drama for her or for Jung Il-woo. but 40 episodes with these two could be a sweet treat.
love all the cast so far
btw why isn't the male lead at the script reading? wasn't he pretty much confirmed for this one? he would make such a yummy pair with Uee, hope their chemistry won't disappoint.

I agree, could not finish it. Kim Yoo Jung and the other child actors did great, but Han Ji Hye was pretty horrible, she had about two expressions throughout the entire drama. And her chemistry with both leads wasn't good.

I cannot tell you how happy I am to hear that Uee is confirmed! YES! *Fist pump* She is so adorable, and I just love her so much! And she'll be acting with City Hunter dad, who I've been dying to see in something softer. So, I'm totally looking forward to this. The only thing I'm worried about is the adult, or older versions of these kids living up to the precedent that the kids will set. Because without a doubt, those kids are gifted little actors, and can really pull on the heart.

I just read in other website a drama about orphan too, it in cable Tv, the lead actor is Jae hee, the title is Firsborn except the setting is different. I thought i heard about this drama first but but Firstborn is almost start airing. Is it trend to make similar story in the same time??????
