Chun Jung-myung headlines OCN thriller, joins variety show

It looks like Chun Jung-myung (Queen of the Night) will be making a double comeback to television this spring. On the heels of announcing that he’ll be joining the new season of MBC variety show Real Men, he’s also confirmed the OCN crime thriller drama Ten Days Ago. The drama is still working out a timeslot on OCN’s schedule, but with its newest show Cheo-yong barely premiering this week (after months of delay), there’s no way Ten Days Ago will hit its original target March broadcast. But now that Chun has signed on, things are looking up.

The drama will follow OCN’s 10-episode dark crime thriller mold, and comes from PD Kim Yong-kyun of The Webtoon and writer Ahn Young-soo who worked on Itaewon Murder Case. It’s about a crime that has ten days left before the statute of limitations runs out on it, leading to a mad dash between the person trying to keep the crime hidden and the one trying to uncover it. We’re not told whether Chun Jung-myung is playing the hider or the seeker, though his character carries with him a deep regret over something he did fifteen years ago. I guess everyone’s just going to take a turn racing against the clock for three, ten, or fourteen days this year in dramaland.

But first Chun Jung-myung will be joining the cast of MBC’s Sunday variety show Real Men, where celebrities go back to the army for suffering and bonding. The show will close out the current season on February 9 as Jang Hyuk, Ryu Soo-young, and Sohn Jin-young leave the show, while current members Kim Suro, Seo Kyung-seok, Sam Hammington, and Park Hyung-shik are staying for Season 2.

Along with Chun, new members will include actor Park Gun-hyung (I Do, I Do), and singers K. Will and Henry. I have no idea about these other new guys, but Chun Jung-myung is hilariously competitive so I imagine he’ll be a good fit for a show like this. Right after he joined, the show also scored his Queen of the Night costar Kim Min-jung to do the narration for the show, which should be a fun addition since they played husband and wife.

The second season of Real Men starts shooting mid-February and Ten Days Ago is still in pre-production.

Chun Jung Myung the cutie PIE! Hahha, i don't like thriller but the story looks interesting. Just ten days to catch hidden criminal? Dude, given dramaland situation where there's always idiotic cops, ten days would never be enough

Wasn't he famous for being EXTREMELY strict/harsh in the army? I think he rose quite quickly to join the rank of a commanding officer (or some higher form than a regular officer). Probably why they recruited him. He seems to have a reputation from the army.

I always liked him from Fashion 70's. so excited to see more of him on TV. : )

Lets hope the no sub thing will change, considering Henry joins in.

Yeah, hopefully a few ELFs will sub it so we can see even just Henry cuts. I've been so curious about the show but my mediocre Korean will only suffice for about 10% comprehension.

I really, really, REALLY want to watch Real Men, but I can't find it anywhere with English subs. Darn it. And now that Henry's joining, I want to see it even more!

Yay for PIE to grace us with his presence again!!!

K.Will? REALLY?!? Just as long as you don't hurt those gorgeous vocal chords, sweetie. Then this noona is gonna have to come over to your training grounds and crack some heads!!!

What about OCN supposedly doing God's Quiz season 4 this year...? How many thrillers do they plan for a year?

PIE!

And just glancing at that last shot, it totally fits that Ryu Soo-young is in a reality show where you go back to the army. In every drama I see him in you can tell he works out. Definitely more man than flower boy.

I swear I saw a Japanese drama with that exact same plot. Can't remember the name.

So I'm suddenly super worried that some sort of horrible vocal damage will happen to K. Will on Real Men.

I've caught a couple of episodes of this show here and there and on occasion, the men are yelling to a point where it's plausible that vocal chord damage could occur. ....... While the resulting hoarseness may be temporary it still cannot be a good thing for a singer.

This is not to say that every person's voice, regardless of profession, isn't important and valuable (because it certainly is), but I can only imagine how devastating it must be for a singer.

I wish all the participants well.
