Legal romance Woman With a Suitcase teases lighthearted laughs

Okay, so this cute romantic vibe in the first teaser is totally not what I expected for this drama, but I’ll take it. MBC’s new Monday-Tuesday legal drama Woman With a Suitcase comes from the writer of Gap-dong and was originally described as the story of a woman clawing her way back to success after being falsely imprisoned for a crime. Now it seems like an upbeat underdog success story with a romance, so I’m not sure what to expect, but it’s not like I’d be disappointed in the least if Choi Ji-woo came back with something bright and cheery — more Twenty Again, less Temptation.

Choi Ji-woo stars as a successful office manager at a law firm, who’s so good at her job that she’s essentially a lawyer without the law degree. She carries a suitcase stuffed full of legal briefs everywhere she goes, always ready to work at a moment’s notice. After suffering a major setback and hitting rock bottom in her career, she’ll pick herself back up, go to law school, and start her own practice.

Joo Jin-mo (Beloved Eun-dong) is her love interest, a prickly tabloid company CEO who was once a promising prosecutor. Nobody knows how he gets all of his secrets on celebrities and politicians, but he’ll use his powers for good by helping the heroine whenever he can. Co-starring are Jeon Hye-bin (Oh Hae-young Again) as Choi Ji-woo’s half-sister, an ambitious lawyer who resents living in her sister’s shadow and will stop at nothing to win, and Lee Joon (Vampire Detective) as a bright-eyed idealistic lawyer who believes in the fight for justice and can’t pay his office rent because of it.

The first teaser features Choi Ji-woo and Joo Jin-mo just erupting into giggles instead of focusing on their work. And in a different scene, she says to him, “You’re persistent,” and he tosses back, “Well, for starters you’ve succeeded in igniting my competitiveness.” It feels like a breezy romance with light bickering and cute chemistry, and I have to say, there’s a much bigger chance that I’m going to watch this now.

Woman With a Suitcase follows Monster on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning September 26.

Glad I'm not the only one, seeing the screencap of the teaser makes me go "Wait, which drama is this?"
I'm always confused and mixed up OTW to Airport with Woman with Suitcase.
Lee Sang Yoon & Choi Ji Woo in separate dramas doesn't help either as CJW actually offered the female lead role in OTW to Airport before KHN.

The titles doesn't help either HAHA I still can't memorize it and I probably have to scroll up to copy paste it if I ever use it in a comment.

I confuse these two dramas, too. Must be the latest drama trend...travel. Or, at least, filming dramas set within the travel industry, or within airport/train terminals.

Also, although she's sporting a different look and a shorter hairstyle, the trend must also be to always give Jeon Hye Bin a scene where she's rolling her suitcase along. In OH HAE YOUNG AGAIN, we first see her as a mystery woman arriving into Seoul, dragging her suitcase behind her. And here she is again, with her hand on a suitcase handle.. ha.

Basically, every woman on her way to the airport has a suitcase. Very confusing is true.

So basically everyone is a lawyer, doctor, entertainer or stewardess this time around in Dramaland. (Doesn't need to mention chaebol since it's everyone's favorite job)
And if you're not in the above category, most likely you're in a sageuk drama. They have 10 or so sageuks this year.

Don't forget to include PDs. Suzy was one in Uncontrollably Fond, Lee Seon-kyun is another in his upcoming JTBC drama. And others I miss.

Just watched the movie Like for Likes where Choi was -yeah- a flight attendant and Esom a PD. But that movie was a beautiful display of the most drama professions cliches.

I thought being a stewardess is pretty refreshing, but we indeed have too many lawyers, doctors, and PDs this year!

Don't forget Hyeri! In ANSWER ME 1988, she was a stewardess, too!

I'm actually not too familiar with many of these actors. It's the premise that's pulling me in. The Good Wife was gritty and tense and nuanced. Woman With A Suitcase seems light and fun and teasing. It'll be interesting to see two almost entirely opposite takes on the profession.

Choi Ji Woo unni seems like a sweetheart, so I can imagine that a majority of these giggles and laughs are real and not just acting ;) Hehe
