One last pre-premiere photo op for Legend of the Blue Sea

I swear, I was all Legend of Blue Sea’d out, after being inundated with all those promos and teasers and stills, and had intended to just ride it out till premiere day quietly. After all, there’s only so much you can say about pictures when the show hasn’t even aired yet, and promo fatigue is real! But then the show held its production press conference, and it seemed like all the minor stills and promos I’d been ignoring in the final stretch suddenly grew into a mountain, so what the hell. Why not throw it all in one final pre-show batch, so we can gorge ourselves and then start over when the show airs tomorrow.
First, we have a slew of photos taken from the drama’s press conference, held yesterday in Seoul’s Imperial Palace Hotel, just two days before premiere day. That seems surprisingly late in the game, but I’ve noticed that dramas have been holding their press conferences much closer to premiere day than they used to, so perhaps there’s a good reason for it. In attendance, of course, were leads Jeon Ji-hyun (You From Another Star) and Lee Min-ho (Heirs), as well as supporting cast members Shin Hye-sun (Five Kids), Sung Dong-il (Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo), Lee Hee-joon (Yoo-na’s Street), and Shin (Big).
Jeon explained how she found the topic fresh and that everything about acting a mermaid was new. She said that having worked with writer Park Ji-eun before (on You From Another Star) seemed to bolster her confidence in approaching the role. Co-star Lee Hee-joon praised her portrayal, saying that he’d been curious to see how someone would portray a mermaid getting acquainted with the world, and wondered if anybody else could do as good a job of it as Jeon.
Lee Min-ho described Jeon’s aura as more powerful than other actors, saying that it took some time to feel more comfortable with her, although the more they work together, the more natural their reactions and chemistry are becoming. Jeon added that they were both busy in the early days of production establishing their characters and storylines, but as they film more together, everything feels smoother and easier.

I'm not tired by the promotion at all. It wasn't even that much.. like 3 teasers and just 7-8 stills. Goblin also started at the same time and it still has 2 more weeks for premiere. And It's definitely less promotion than Heirs lol.

Perhaps it was the rate of promotional releases? Or it could be a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts: you look forward to something so much you become fatigued by the wait and come to believe it is the promotional material when it was really your own attention to it.
I didn't feel it myself, but it was interesting to see how often the promotional material was being posted (nearly daily) for this drama.

@clinton carter: Yes, my point concerned Lee Min Ho specifically. Heirs was not his only project, but it WAS his last drama and I found it so unwatchable that I still feel cringey when I see him. I'm hoping sincerely that this new drama can live up to its own hype, because if it isn't outstanding, I'm not sure I'll ever be cured of my post-Heirs aversion to the guy. Which would be sad!

I doubt it'll be Heir to LMH's last disappointing drama; which banked that it'd be successful simply because it was laden with Boys over Flowers. But that impression is just based on my Personal Taste.

No one is forcing you to look at the pictures, if you are not interested, you can always skip the thread. Its being posted for people who like lee min ho and jeon ji hyun and are eagerly looking forward to this drama. They are just trying to give us the whole info since both lee min ho and jeon ji hyun are hugely popular, its not their fault that SBS released so many promo pictures.

Everyone is saying they are lowering their expectations but I'm not!
I have faith in Park Ji-eun as a writer, Jin Hyuk as a director, and Jeon Ji-hyun as an actor. And as long as he is paired with the City Hunter director, I have faith in Lee Min-ho as well!
So yeah, my expectations are high lol. It's not often you get such a perfect trifecta of actors, writers, and directors.

It'll be really interesting to see how it develops.
His comment that he's intimidated by strong co-stars is both adorkable and insightful into the consistency of his acting. I think he does much better when playing opposite seasoned actors, and ones that are naturally skilled in helping their co-stars develop chemistry. (Of the people he's acted with, Kim Woo Bin and Park Min Young come to mind as having this talent.)
He plays his characters in a way that is highly reflective of the acting style and energy of the other actors in the scene. Case in point: his acting shifted completely in the scenes where he was playing opposite that bad surfer actor in Heirs. It was an aha moment in seeing what creates the appearance of unevenness in his performances. He's trying to blend with them, instead of standing out with his own vision of his character and forcing them to blend with him.
He's with rock star team in this drama. So I expect something really, really good.

I know this is an awesome team, but 30% seems like a bit much. Isn't the only miniseries drama this year to pass 30% DOTS? Even Doctors and MDBC didn't get that high.

I dont mean any bad.. Just that wow, he sure is daring to say out explicitly.. (wasnt what i really expected, he's true to himself.. but generally most would avoid facing such question directly and instead answer in a indirect way hoping to do well and pls support bla bla bla without reference to number or at least a more attainable and modest one..
but thats some huge numbers there 30%, yea this show can probably achieve it (but theres no guarantee.. like how show flop and yet some show did well with their hard work..)
Just my opinion, i find it a little too insensitive towards its competitor (especially all 3 premiering at the same day) maybe its the translated problem which makes it sounds that way..
And yea, the drama havent even premier with no benchmark/record yet, it would be better if its some rating promise / fan service special if it hit a certain %..
those haters would just bring this up if the show doesnt do well :-(

1st of all what is JJH wearing I so didn't get her concept but she still looks beautiful as ever. LMH is looking totally dashing in his D&G. But then again LMH could wear rags and I would still love him lol.
I am a bit worried about the chemistry between the two actors though. They looked uncomfortable and awkward during the press conference. I know there is an age difference and all that but I still was expecting them to be comfortable around each other after all the filming they have done so far. Especially after seeing how comfortable and joking around LMH was with kim hee sun. Those two had a good noona & dongsaeng relationship going on and I did enjoy watching them in Faith.
I am still looking forward to watching it but I have kinda lost my enthusiasm for this drama. I pray and hope they prove me wrong and show us some bubbling on screen chemistry. LEE MIN HOO and JUN JI HYUN PLEASE LET IT HAPPEN.

I expect we'll see them start off quite disconnected, but they'll develop chemistry as the story progresses. That'd fit with the development of a love-line, so it should be ok.

I think its the stardom thing.. LMH is sort of a new thing.. last 4-5 years..
JJ on the other hand is like ages old when it comes to stardom...and i maybe wrong but she has that aura of an actor who is famous and knows it !! :) making it difficult to approach..because she likes to maintain her space..
Anyway.. more than the drama, its the litmus test for fans Vs content.. I can't for the life of me imagine that even if this drama were to be real real real bad ( PSH was less popular than JJ and still that drama did really well despite loads of yawning moments) .. it can't go below 20%.. it won't

For me, its ok lol. Its just a wish, not a prediction. But I'm worried that his wish might not come true. I feel like this kind of genre wont hit 30%. Its not everybody's genre specially that conman thing. I'm sure it will be #1 on its timeslot but with city hunter kind of ratings.

Other drama teasers are posted here too,so why won't they post legend of the blue sea teasers?Are they the one that released the teasers?Their job is to recap dramas and post drama news.

I hope he gets his wish, is his last drama before enlisting, I really hope this will be a successful project for him, and of course to JJH who is also returning after 3 yrs, I think they can get high ratings, praying everything goes well for them

The first poster was shot in Palau de la Música Catalana ('Catalan Music Palace'), here in Barcelona. A very famous and tourist-y spot, but I'm seriously surprised they used it *___*
The pictures where he's wearing a big, dark brown jumper are from the surroundings of Museu d'Història de Catalunya ('Catalonia Museum of History') and Passeig de Colom, also in Barcelona. The ones with the greyish jumper and the ones with the baby blue shirt are from Girona old town though. And I might be mistaken but the beach ones are from Galicia.
...just in case somebody wanted to know it ^^U

Thanks for the information, I'll look out for it :) . I might have been able to confirm whether that was the beach in Galicia, if the producers hadn't posted a guy to block the path by the cliff :( . We managed to catch a glimpse of LMH under an umbrella, far out in the distance, when they finished filming. But we did have a lot of fun afterwards watching the stand-ins/stunt couple being chased by gangsters. After about a thousand takes, we expect a getaway through a corn field, ending in a jump off the cliff, to the frustration of a gangster boss in a flashy white suit. Oh, and a drone... :)

I think they're, because I don't know if here in Catalonia we have this kind of beaches ('wild', not sure how to say it in English). Oooh, cool! I wasn't able to see them, I only knew when they were filming in Girona but I couldn't go because of work and then I had no info of their shootings here in Barcelona :(

The stills and promos aren't that much!! The LBS production team have been keeping a low profile!! Just recently because they are so near the pilot episode, they have been releasing stills, which makes sense.In Heirs FROM THE Beginning till the very end, there were soo much buzz!! LBS's production team seem to be more humble than that of Heirs!!

I think it is better to be realistic about the ratings. I don't expect too much , because to be honest, Korean people have very different tase. They are all in for Makjang drama. Sometimes I am surprised why some very good dramas dont get good ratings.
In this case, Lee Min Ho has GAZILLION of international fans and no matter what ratings they get in Korea, LBS is ALREADY a BIG hit!!! Did u all know that in manyyy Asian countrie LBS will be aired on their top-notch channel with 24 hours of its Korean telecast?? That is really awesome!! So What I mean is, we Fans of Lee Min Ho(Minoz) don't need to worry abt the ratings in Korea. International Kdrama success is sweeter victory than that of in Korea.

sometimes, when i see guys in high-fashion outfits like lee min-ho in these photos, i just wish i was a guy with their specific proportions so i can wear those clothes and have them drape in that specific way...
like, you just can't get the same silhouette with boobs...
(this problem also happens a lot when i watch too many kpop lives. the shirt tucked into a high-waisted belted wide pants, the long drapey shirt plus cropped pants, just... sigh)
