Han So-hee lives for revenge in new teaser for Netflix’s My Name

Netflix has released a new video teaser for their upcoming action drama My Name. The drama stars Han So-hee (Nevertheless) in a vendetta mission to avenge her father’s murder and uncover the truth behind his death.

Although she’s starting down dangerous path, Han So-hee is hellbent on achieving her goal, and becomes a member of a gang under the mob boss Park Hee-soon (A Beautiful World). Park helps her take on the fake identity of a cop in order infiltrate the police force and gain access to their database. However, Park’s gang is heavily involved in underground drug trafficking, and things get complicated when Han is assigned to the drug investigation unit. There, she’s partnered with police officer Ahn Bo-hyun (Yumi’s Cells) whose main target is Park Hee-soon.

In the teaser, we get a look at Han So-hee beginning her revenge mission. She salutes to her cause in police uniform, and as she trains, Park Hee-soon coaches her in voice-over and vows that their gang will protect her.

We then cut to a series of fast action sequences, where Han fights against her opponents in dangerous situations. Intercutting the action, we get a glimpse at other important characters, and we see Park Hee-soon walk stoically down a hallway, and Ahn Bo-hyun lead his police team. As the teaser comes to a close, we focus on Han So-hee’s blood-splattered face as she says, “I’m willing to become a monster.”

Written by Kim Ba-da (OCN’s Hero) and directed by Kim Jin-min (Extracurricular), the Netflix original My Name will be released on October 15.

This revenge drama looks like it may follow that adage about those seeking revenge digging two graves. I also like "The Departed"/"Internal Affairs" storyline about a (fake) bad woman infiltrating the cops. Good stuff, hopefully.

This looks really, really interesting. I'm a sucker for revenge-driven justified-violence martial-arts-y dramas a la A Man from Nowhere. Agony and misguided decisions interspersed with cool and badass. And this is series? I'll def check it out.

"revenge-driven justified-violence martial-arts-y" is the best name for this very specific sub-genre; it describes the type of revenge movies/dramas I like to a tee.

I was not interested in the drama until I read the synopsis. I'll definitely check it out if the initial reviews are positive.

She chooses very interesting projects, but that boxing scene looked really bad. I shall watch though.

Looks good. I'm interested in seeing Han So-hee in a totally different type of role.

I was gonna pick this up anyway, cos it's only 8 episodes, but I am seeing just now it's the Extracurricular PD, which is a plus.

I'm curious about the writer though, as to me the writing is the main ingredient that makes the drama "dish" tasty, lol. Did you see Hero by any chance? How was it? But the PD's directing was so assured and so well-executed in Extracurricular that I wonder now if even with a potentially bad script, this PD can pull it off.

Oh I'm 💯 in agreement about the writing, and tend to only look to the PD second as to my expectations of technical quality.
A PD is only ever a singular factor, here a plus, but a noticeable one, given the subject matter of this and in comparison Extracurricular .
In this case I haven't seen anything of the writer, which places me in a bit of an unknown there... I was originally, and still am, banking on interest in premise, and then PD.
But, I have, unfortunately, watched enough where the PD has excellent credits but is still let down by the writing, so this could still go either way, yaknow? Haha
