Beanie level: Loan shark with a heart of gold

Did I cry at the end of QoT? Yes. Did I laugh at the childhood connection? Yes.

Okay, we now know why they separated, it makes sense.

Last one. “Shut up, while I’m using my arm to shield you” to the kitten she fed while it is raining, lol

Hae In bragging about her possessions for why she can’t die, Girl…the islands, lol.

The whole bathroom scene was so funny, fan service, throw back to my love from another star, and then her upset. Hilarious.

5

Hae In playing in slow motion Hyun Woo saving her and getting mad at herself, lol.

Doctor Slump, LOVE CONQUERS ALL and is HEALING. The fact that you regularly mixed antidepressants with the best of depressants, alcohol, obviously isn’t what did it. It was the POWER of cutesy love. 🧐

😂😂 The universal kdrama law. Love cures all.

I read your first sentence and was already getting ready to fight – and then read the second sentence. 😂😂😂💯 (Note to self: Don’t be hasty!) Yeah, I figured that’s where they were going. I dropped it a while ago in part because my liver couldn’t take it.

Flex x Cop, WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?

4

Watching flex x cop and seeing the chemistry between out medical examiner and our taciturn cop, reminded me again how bad the lack of chemistry is in impossible heir. Baffling.

Also it is a meatball and not a nugget.

I wanted to love Chicken Nugget, but it wasn’t as funny for me as I thought. I stepped away and had no desire to go back, but I hope everyone else is enjoying it.

No, it’s probably not worth spending five hours of your life on… unless you’re a 10-year-old boy. Heavens but would those young men find this thing hi-lar-i-ous!

Min-ah (as “hot woman”) flipping off those bullies made me smile in recognition of who the audience here really was. Luckily, for me, I think I have 10% of the humor of said 10-year-old boy. 😆

But there was still a little bit for the rest of us… you didn’t find any of it at all funny? Not even the Be Melo meta??

    1
    1

Lol, I ended up finishing it. My sentiment is the same though. I did LOL had 3 points, one of them was a meta moment when they were playing the song and he was like just stop, lol. The other wad the BTS moment with the hair swipe, and the third was when the man was complaining about being in line. The rest was just kind of meh to me.

The FL in Impossible Heir is GENUINELY a TERRIBLE actress, my God the hospital scene was painful to watch, yikes.

7
15

You called it … yikes it is! 🙈

    1
    1

It actually gets worse. This is awful and not at all believable. Why? I am so baffled.

      1

She has one expression for every emotion… And the writing of her character is non-existent.

    4
    1

I agree but then the writing for everyone is zero to none but I guess they are more experienced and obviously better actors.

      2
      1

But at one moment, the guy who wanted her to work for him said something like ” I want you skills” and I thought “What skills?” We never could see her doing something in her job. I have no idea what she’s doing. But she went in a good university, so she’s smart and it’s all.

        3
        2

I don’t understand why you’d choose someone so bad at acting for such a pivotal character. Imagine what Kim Sae-ron or Jeon Jong-seo could do with this character.

    3
    1

THIS!!! The chemistry isn’t even zero, it is absolute zero. I was so confused, why is she so bad?

      4
      2

Her facial muscles move very weirdly. If she weren’t young I would think it’s excessive Botox 😅

        4
        1

She’s not that young. At thirty with a (till now) non-existent career she may have considered some cosmetic procedures for this big break.

          1
          0

I think it’s the age-old “emotionless = expressionless” trap actors often fall in. Except her expressionlessness is at a whole other level.

I am dreading this weeks episode. I had to pause after 15 minutes of Ep 5.

The unexpected black comedy that is Queen of Tears has made my weekend, this is hilarious.

7

Oh, if you’d narrate this thing in all of its darkness for those of us who can’t take actually watching, we’d be forever grateful. Well, *I* would, anyway, Kafiyah.

What was your favorite “funny” part???

    3
    1

How much have you watched? I don’t want to spoil it much.

      1
      1

I have watched episode one and I will be “unspoilable” because I’m literally not watching another second. However, if you want to wait until the recaps are posted for everyone–I’m down with that.

I just want to hear your scathing commentary and/or praising delight of the dark humor…

        1
        3

Why aren’t you watching episode 2? Episode 2 is much funnier than episode 1. There is different parts, but his absolute joy at the fact that she is dying, while accidently making it seems like he cares. They are in two different world, both mentally and tonally within the show. The drama for me is a different take on what is essentially a massive amount of miscommunication between people who actually do seem to love each other.

          2
          0

I guess to answer your question, I realize I didn’t, lol, there were a lot of little moments, nothing in particular, but I was laughing throughout.

          1
          0

Also sorry if I seem in your business, you 100% don’t have to answer why you aren’t watching, but I will provide more commentary next weekend for you. I’ll give more specific examples.😊

          4
          1

You are so totally not in my business. We “internet know” one another well enough for me to hear what you’re saying. But, yes, this is just one of my limit cases. I can’t take the plot! Because…I’m 100% with you that:

The drama for me is a different take on what is essentially a massive amount of miscommunication between people who actually do seem to love each other.

And I don’t find that funny! AT ALL.

However!!! 하지만!!! Others do, and I am ready to live vicariously off you. I want to see how you find it funny AND I want to hear the dirt. It’s selfish of me, frankly, to ask…but do know that if you want to dish about the black humor, there’s an audience–of more than me, I can tell you. But at very least, ME!!

Also Sebastian Roche, my favorite tv dad villain, (if you know you know) is going to be in Queen of Tears.

I tried Impossible Wedding and something about the drama was just slightly off. I kept tilting my head emu style because something wasn’t quite right.

Idk if it was the ML’s acting or the FL’s acting. It was like two different dramas, but not. I think it was that the FL was acting circles around the ML who was coming off as very green. Regardless, I realized the drama wasn’t for me with 2 minutes left in the episode, lol, I hope others enjoy it.

    3
    3

I’m with you, but I was surprised to see other beanies loved it. To each their own!

      2
      2

Sometimes it is such a weird feeling when someone loves something you think is really bad. Lol, but like you said to each their own. That is why we are differrent.

        5
        0

I couldn’t get past what an asshole the ML was–that’s the younger chaebol guy, right? I couldn’t actually even tell!! Anyway, whoever he is I gather that he’s going to be rehabilitated, but good lord. I’m not sure I want to see that guy happy.

        1
        3

Yup the younger chaebol is the ML and agreed he is an asshole, and not in an interesting way.

          2
          0

That’s interesting that you found him to be such a jerk. I struggled to conjure up any emotional reaction to him other than the fact that he’s attractive and has a nice voice. And I’m not pinning this on the fact that the actor is green. I simply have no idea, even after two episodes, what makes this guy tick. Is he a good, warm-hearted brother who selflessly puts others before himself? Or is he a selfish, controlling guy who looks down on others in his pursuit of his own goals? If he thinks his brother’s erstwhile fiancee is so wonderful, why doesn’t he want to date her? And what exactly does he want from his grandfather anyway, and why?

In short, I have no idea who he is at all.

          4
          1

Ha, I think that’s exactly what makes him seem like an asshole to me! You’ve put your finger right on it. Slippery snake who doesn’t show his cards.

            0
            0

He got what he deserved in episode 2 😁😁

          2
          0

The actor playing the ML is in actuality pretty green! I do agree that there was something a bit off in that episode. Too many characters being introduced? The chemistry not quite chemistrying yet? Chaebol fighting storyline fatigue? I’m going to give this a few more episodes to see if it all settles in.

      3
      3

Let me know, maybe, I’ll give it another go.

I liked episode 2 a lot more! The dialogue is great. The story is playing out in an unexpected way. And the motivations of the characters are becoming clearer, although still not fully explained (seems like that’s on purpose).

          2
          0

For me, the story, characters, and plotting all felt a little basic and boring. But I’ll also give it one more episode as I do like the ML (I agree that he’s pretty green, but he has potential) and like the concept.

        5
        1

Maybe the directing? It just felt like the timing was off.

        3
        0

He is very green and the FL is very not. He’s hanging in there but she’s clearly the better actor. And it doesn’t hurt that I can’t really tell what his character’s motivation is.

      3
      1

I do want to say that the second episode is stronger than the first, with some good relationship development between the two friends. I’m still unsure about the little brother’s motivations–in fact, I can’t make sense of them at all (how is his brother marrying a woman he doesn’t want to marry and taking on a position he doesn’t want to have ensuring that brother’s eternal happiness?)–but some of the conversations between the FL and her best friend (sorry, too lazy to look up their names at this point) had some depth to them. I’m glad he’s not just the gay spoiler to the main romance, which is what I feared he would be. And I appreciate that their history and complicated emotional connection can’t easily be reduced to the fact that she’s the only one who knows the truth about his sexuality.

The humor isn’t quite landing for me, though, and I’m not yet seeing much chemistry between the leads. But the second episode was good enough for me to watch a third.

    Emu style 😂😂
I think if you don’t enjoy it then, well, then that’s it, plenty of other dramas coming our way *cough* Lee Jaewook *cough*.
I myself love it, so far, but it is true that I’m here mainly for the main actreess, she is wonderful.

SPOILER maybe: Oh Mong Woo/Hee Soo, you dumb dumb, he was obviously saying what that man wanted to here. Smh, sigh. Also I still maintain Lady Dong killed the king and this episode affirmed it.

SIGH, Marry My Husband has in fact gotten stupider. Idk why I am watching this. The new villain is SO UNNECESSARY. why? Sigh, 2 more eps I guess.

Thank you, this is very helpful. I had dropped it but those episodes are sitting there blinking at me this week. I will now stay strong on leaving them unwatched.

I know why I’m watching — I’m looking for those few good warm scenes where Ji-won and Ji-hyuk are making the most of their second chance, and Suk-joon is rescuing Ju-ran. The rest of the time, I feel like this is a trashy show, and Ji-won is a trashy character. One minute, she’s all noble about how she was abused by these two in her past life, and the next minute, she’s down on their level, making cruel remarks that can only backfire, and even plotting in the sleaziest way to make the person of her choice die. Was I supposed to feel sorry for her at the end of ep. 14? I felt like her own greed for payback, her stupid choices, and her bad judgment led her to that moment, not fate. Every time I watch this show, I’m hopeful, and every time I finish, even ff’ing over 75% of it, I feel disgusted for wasting my time on this trash.

Captivating the King is captivating me. It is very much reminding me a little about Coffee Prince and I am here for it. JJS is giving it all and I am falling.

I dropped it at episode 2 at first but am glad that I picked it up again! I just wish they wipe off that lipstick from her face when she is in ‘disguise’

Episode 12 of Marry My Husband was dumb, I’m sorry but jumping the shark is an understatement. Also, when you see a truck coming, move your car out of the way. SIGH.
