Really tried to watch and to like Now We Are Breaking Up, but it is just not for me. The King’s Affection is like my favourite desert.

I'm rooting for MBC because every sageuk this year got 10 percent -- Secret Royal Investigator, River Where the Moon Rises, Lovers of the Red Sky, and assuming The King’s Affection by its finale -- and The Veil was so close.

I really think Red Sleeve Cuff is the drama MBC should have thrown their PR machine behind this year.

Sure- but it is going to do really well even without that. Some shows simply have the magic and sell themselves.

Junho put out a ratings ‘promise’ if THE RED SLEEVE reaches a ratings of 15 percent. Here:

15 percent is... ambitious.

Haha, yes Junho is always ambitious about his work. That shows that he is perfectionist and will try hard in everything he does. All his dramas are actually very good. Of course it depends on multiple factors like the production team and his partners (who all received acting awards). But he is like a fighter, very focused, immersed into his roles and I trust he is a quality assurance for his dramas!

Inspector Koo's numbers make me sad.

Happiness isn't doing too bad considering tvN's stupid scheduling.

My November watch list and favorite by far :
- The Red Sleeve Cuff : so sweet and funny! I love that the first 2 episodes showing friendships between the court ladies, gossiping and sneaking around the palace at forbidden hours, making pact with seniors.

And I'm loving it that these first episodes don't focus heavily on corruption genre (at least at this moment)
- Happiness : I'm not a fan of zombie genre, I can't even get pass Kingdom's first 2 episodes, but Happiness offer some kind of light and different storyline.

- Jirisan

- Secret Royal Inspector : It has a bit of dragging scenes, but so far so good

- Let Me be Your Knight

Now, We are Breaking up is terrible. Song Hye Kyo cannot act (or refuses to act - not sure which one it is). The story is all over the place a and the editing is very choppy. Alot of pretty visuals to detract from the lack of everything else.

You tell my thoughts! Besides, I think beautiful actresses can act but their challenges are because other aspects are easily overshadowed by their beauty. Including donors, investors, and production team...who put all the good stuffs on them, advertising, making the actor glossy. That is nothing wrong but they missed the efforts to paint a well connected story, focus on directing emotions and acting...Many beautiful actresses have no improvement in acting because of those challenges. Not many overcomed that! Unfortunately for Now we are breaking up, I have Red Sleeve Cuff to cover my Saturday now. I even doubt why Lee Seyoung is in it because I personally don't find her a breathtaking beauty like Song Hye Kyo, Park Shin Hye, Kim Tae Hee...-Sorry to compare) but she has amazingly lively and emotional acting that I expect from actors/actress whose job is to act! And she does her job well! Besides, I found totally in love with Red Sleeve Cuff now with very refreshed story (thought it is historical and old but it's not) and Lee Junho's acting is quality assurance...very elegant and noble charisma in whatever roles he played: rich or poor, bad or good boy...He is among very few impressive young men I found in Korea entertainment industry!

I’m not sure if Song Hye Kyo doesn’t know how to pick good scripts or is just a weak actress. I must say I wasn’t impressed with her recent dramas. That said, I can look at her beautiful face the whole day..she’s just an ageless beauty!

Agree, she is very beautiful, but tbh I don't think I watched any of her dramas after Full House

Unfortunately her age is showing and the heavy make up and reflective boards only make it worst. I can’t help but notice how much older she is compared to her assistants and the male lead.

It may be possible that the production team spent more time getting PPL in Now We Are Breaking Up than working on the script and acting. The production will be profitable from all the PPL advertising.

I see Korean TV ratings as what is the current netizen "buzz" over a program and not a good gauge of total viewers or the show's content.

I think the ratings for the first two episodes of tvN’s SECRET ROYAL INSPECTOR & JOY are quite respectable. Now that the setup is out of the way let’s see what happens.

It probably not an even playing field to pit tvN (cable) (Taecyeon) vs. MBC (terrestrial) (Junho) but it will be kind of fun to see if a horse race in the ratings develop between these two guys. I have money on both of them since I will be watching and rooting for both so I don’t have a favorite. (Maybe if truth be told a very little preference to Taecyeon since I think Junho would be the favorite in this two horse race. I always like the underdog. We shall see.)

I'm really happy for King's Affection 😊

They do well on Netflix too.

It's the middle of the drama and I'm still excited to watch it, it wasn't the case for the last sageuks Lovers of the Red Sky or River Where the Moon Rises...

I haven't started this but am so intrigued by the clips I see here and there - especially when it comes to PEB. But I think I'm waiting to see how it ends before I watch, because I can see myself getting in so deep, and heartbreak is the last thing I need.

This drama is really beautiful : the costumes, the places, the actors :p

PEB is killing it as a Crown Prince. The story is really about her. She deserves to be happy.

Like you, I hope my little heart won't be broken by a sad ending :(

re - Now, We Are Breaking Up, is there a chance that a lot of people are watching it because of the EXO member? And in general do you think they can hold the ratings? Because for me, it couldn't grab me.

No, I watched bc it was hyped as SHK's comeback and the show promised mature depiction of romance.

Instead it's wannabe SATC and SHK's acting is awful.

what entails a mature depiction of romance for you? And why is Breaking Up not one of this kind of romance? And what does SATC mean? Also do you have any recs with mature romance?

I think SATC is Sex and the City.

It's nothing like Sex and the City. Of anything it's more your typical chaebol drama surrounding the fashion world. The poor and hardworking but highly talented doormat is a fashion designer catering to the rich. This kind of storyline can go either way. I personally like the "mature depiction of romance" so far, and they have great chemistry.

I tried watching both "Now we are breaking up" and "Red sleeve cut" (unfortunately international view does not count for rating). As a drama lover and observer, Now we are breaking up is just normal story with glossy fashion for visual only. I am sorry! While Red sleeve cut really has impressive acting, both emotions and humors, the charismatics cast, simple but beautiful traditional customs, light realistic make up, great music (very elegant and refreshed at the same time). I don't care much about history (I'm not Korean to know these things) but it is very charming and it is a true heart-fell romance I have to say! Of course it is only 2 episodes. But Red sleeve cut wins my heart first!

For me, because it's a well-researched ode to a mountain and the people who take care of it. There are thriller/preternatural elements sprinkled to keep the action going but the little moments highlighting the daily activities of the rangers are what's nicest to me. And it helps a lot that I like both leads and the supporting cast.

The Red Sleeve is my sageuk on this current shows airing. Other shows I am watching are Idol The Coup, Happiness and Jirisan. I am a bit disappointed with the first episode of Secret Royal Inspector and Joy but I will watch episode 2 so can better assess if I will stick with the show.

I am not yet done with HaeChi so I have another saguek on my plate.

Planning to check out Melancholia once the episodes pile up a bit.

Right now I'm enjoying Happiness (my current #1) and Jirisan a lot (#1.5).

Now, We Are Breaking Up is alright with me. The vibrant fashion industry is interesting for me. For the romance... we will see. But episode 2 gave more insights about the FL.

I'm currently watching The King's Affection by KBS and Now, We're Breaking Up. And both dramas are differ in all aspects. The stars of TKA are doing great specially Eunbin and Rowoon. Loved their chemistry and its story.

I also adore Jang Kiyong's acting. His strength is his being manly on screen and i really like his previous drama where he played a psychopath.

The ratings for YOUNG LADY AND GENTLEMENT are rising for a reason- including the fact that we are setting up for many plotlines and apparently three secondary romances. But also because this show is squarely facing its central issue- an age gap- and doing so honestly (so far). There are real natural serious issues with this situation and how they are handled, mis-handled, resolved or not will make for some interesting writing.

I hope ratings for Secret Royal Inspector go up next week. Not that I need to see high ratings in order to enjoy the show. The first two episodes were just a characters and story set up. I came to realize how much I missed seeing Kim Hye-yoon’s ( Dan-O from Extraordinary) face on my screen. She is just what a doctor prescribed in female lead - feisty, smart, alive. I’m having a serious case of a girl crush. There’s such a sparkle, light in her eyes. This show is the right mix of comedy, adventure and romance. Being a sageuk is a great plus for me.
