  • The cast and crew of Coupang Play’s Unicorn were gathered for the first script reading and stills have now been released. Starring Shin Ha-kyun (Beyond Evil), Won Jin-ah (Hellbound), Lee Yoo-jin (Idol: The Coup), and Kim Young-ah (Anna) among others, production was led by PD Kim Hye-young (Be Melodramatic) and writers In Ji-hye (Extraordinary You) and comedian Yoo Byung-jae. • A potential Namgoong Min (The Veil) and Ahn Eun-jin (The One and Only) pairing is in the works for MBC’s new romance and Joseon-era sageuk Lovers. If Namgoong Min accepts, he’ll be reuniting with PD Kim Sung-yong (The Veil). Scripts will be penned by Hwang Jin-young (Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People), and the drama is planning an early 2023 release. [YTN]
  • Minah (Absolute Boyfriend) is becoming a virgin ghost with amnesia for a new ENA drama called Delivery Man. Co-star Yoon Chan-young (All of Us Are Dead), on the other hand, will be playing a taxi driver who also works as a delivery man of sorts – catering to a clientèle of ghosts. Coming in at 12 episodes, it was reported that filming has already begun, with hopes of broadcasting before the year ends. [YTN]

  • Blackpink’s Jennie is making her acting debut on HBO’s new show The Idol, created by Sam Levinson (Euphoria) and Abel Tesfaye (a.k.a. The Weeknd). There hasn’t been anything released yet on Jennie’s character, but it will be a supporting role with Abel Tesfaye and Lily Rose-Depp headlining the series. [Newsis]
  • It’s been a while since Lee Yoon-ji (The Third Charm) was last in a drama, and she’ll be appearing in a special cameo on ENA’s Extraordinary Attorney Woo. We don’t know much about the role itself, but we can also expect to see Lee in the web drama Mimicus, where she’ll be playing a CEO and Yoo Young-jae’s (Police University) mom. [10 Asia]

  • We’ve been showered with more promos for MBC’s Big Mouth, which will be coming to our screens next week on July 29, starring Lee Jong-seok (Romance Is a Bonus Book) and Yoon-ah (Hush). The new stills and posters also include main cast members Kim Joo-hun (Soundtrack #1), Ok Ja-yeon (The Veil), Yang Kyung-won (One Ordinary Day), and Kwak Dong-yeon (Monstrous). Co-directed by PD Oh Choong-hwan (Start-Up) and PD Bae Hyun-jin, writing was done by Kim Ha-ram. [MBC (1), (2)]

Lots to look forward to over the coming month as some of these look like they will have interesting storylines. Looking forward to romance and slice of life. I hope some of these are going to be on early to mid week as all the shows I am currently watching are on a Friday & Saturday.

I am really excited for If you wish upon me. I hope it is good.

I am still willing to try Big Mouth because aside from Yoona the cast is stellar, so maybe she won't ruin it. She may be good in this, maybe.

The Idol looks so smarmy, also Sam Levinson is gross, so pass.

Big Mouth looks WILD in the trailers so far and I’m totally down for it. I loved Yoona in Prime Minister & I and I’m always dazzled by Lee Jong Seok’s acting ability in all his dramas so I really hope this one is good!

Agree. I also liked her acting in Exit and Year End Medley.

I honestly don’t know why people say she can’t act…in fact I really need to watch her other dramas because so far I’ve only seen just the one and I truly enjoyed her performance (Don’t tell anyone, but I personally think her acting is better/more nuanced than Suzy).

I agree! Suzy isn't bad either, but Yoona seems a bit more effortless to me. Suzy looks too aware of her own beauty, Yoona doesn't.

Couldn’t have said it better myself! Suzy definitely has talent but I feel like she holds back because she’s afraid of making unattractive expressions. Yoona on the other hand seems to give the role her everything and doesn’t shy away from making unflattering faces, acting like a goofball, ugly crying, or whatever the scene calls for.

My brain crashed at the words "virgin ghost with amnesia" and all I have left behind my eyes is a Spinning Wheel of Death so I have no idea what else is coming up.

I laughed out loud at that phrase.

Should I be worried that I actually want to watch a show about a virgin ghost with amnesia?!🤣

Could it be this the drama where Wookie redeems himself??? (Wish upon me)
I wish... I wish it soo badly. I think apart from Healer, the poor guy hasnt had anymore Gluck with his scripts, although I liked suspicious partner...

Anyway, I am looking forward even though this plot seems to want to make me cry.

We will find out soon

Big Mouth has so many cast members I like besides Yoona whom I have never been able to warm up to her characters before. And the PD from Start-up? This looks interesting!

If You Wish Upon Me looks very sad and I'm not a fan of Soo-Young, so I guess I will try it but I'm not very excited for it.

I will try Big Mouth to see Kwak Dong-Yeon!

I'm curious to see Namgoong Min in a sageuk. I don't think I ever saw him in a historical story. At least, he got a new FL, because Kim Ji-Eun is still not good.

Every time I've seen the cute sageuk opening of Chief Kim (lost count how many times now) I think wouldn't it be interesting to see Namgoong Min seriously do one? He looks pretty good there.

1. I am once again in love with Sooyoung.

2. Won Jin-ah’s hair is a mess, but I may be able to forgive it if the show is good. Emphasis on may.

3. Namgoong Min in a ROMANCE??!? Without Kim Ji-eun??? HOLY SHIT THIS IS NOT A DRILL. He’s finally going back to his romantic lead era. I’ve waited 84 years for this…

4. This better not be a romance because that age gap is uncomfortable as hell. Yoon Chan-young is like 20, what the hell is wrong with people? Also the phrase “virgin ghost with amnesia” broke my brain.

5. Sam Levinson needs to fix Euphoria (and hire an actual writer’s room!) before he makes and ruins another show. Besides, that’s a full cast of nepotism babies and singers with no acting experience. At least Euphoria has some great performances to alleviate the misery of Sam Levinson’s terrible writing. Huge pass.

6. I loved back in King 2 Hearts! It’ll be good to see her back on my screen again.

7. MBC is basically dangling the show in front of my eyes and baiting me to watch it, because that cast is freaking fantastic until you get to the FL. Why did they have to cast the most uninspired, bland lead actress imaginable? Was nobody else available that day??

I really need to start checking for typos because this is embarrassing.

I KNOW RIGHT? I waited long enough for this day to come. *sniff*

Hard pass on The Idol, and the new show with Minah seems like it’ll be a miss as well. I don’t think I’ve seen her in a show I enjoyed…and the only ones I remember with her are some of the worst I can think of (Absolute Boyfriend was…real bad.)

Won Jin Ah needs another win as well. She’s been in one of my favourites (Just Between Lovers) and some of the worst shows as well…Melting Me Softly remains one of the worst shows I’ve ever watched.

Big Mouth is probably the one I’m most looking forward to. Kwak Dong Yeon means I’m absolutely checking it out and Lee Jong-seok is a favourite as well. Bunch of shows that should be interesting at the very least.

I just hope wookie will shine in this, since healer, nothing has really interest me even though hell always be my all time favorite actor.... Sound of magic was the worse, like WTF..... Please be good (if you wish upon me) for my wookie at least

Whatever happened to the women’s clothes in the Idol promo photo? Did they need those for the men’s heavy-duty ones?! I am confused whether it’s hot or cold, wherever they are🙄
