News bites: May 13, 2024

  • A colorful first poster has splashed in for JTBC’s The Woman Who Is Different by Day and Night, with Lee Jung-eun (A Bloody Lucky Day) and Jung Eun-ji (Work Later Drink Now 2) teasing us in the tagline, asking if we know who the real her is. With production led by PD Lee Hyung-min (Showtime Begins, Strong Woman Do Bong-soon) and writer Park Ji-ha (Good Casting), the fantasy rom-com will be airing weekends following The Atypical Family on June 15. [Sports Donga]

  • Han Ji-min (Behind Your Touch) is reviewing an offer to star in a new series called More Beautiful Than Heaven (roughly translated). Still in the early stages, if Han accepts, this will mark her third time working with PD Kim Seok-yoon after The Light in Your Eyes and Behind Your Touch. In the meantime, we can expect to see Han Ji-min in SBS’s Acquaintances later this year. [News1]

  • Over on MBC, the promos continue for the upcoming black comedy Bittersweet Hell with new stills of our troubled heroine and famed psychologist Kim Hee-sun (Remarriage & Desires). With her and her family suddenly facing threats from a ~mysterious~ blackmailer, the mystery-suspense unfolds on May 24, also starring Lee Hye-young (Big Bet), Kim Nam-hee (Chicken Nugget), and Yeonwoo (Numbers). [MBC]
  • Now that we’ve met our swindling heroes led by Song Seung-heon (Black Knight) in Player 2: Master of Swindlers, tvN reveals the new season’s baddies in the newest teaser – where I spy with my little eye the ever-delicious Lee Soo-hyuk (Tomorrow). The crime-action’s second installment begins on June 3 in the Monday-Tuesday slot. [Xports News]

  • Speaking of crime, SBS’s latest posters foreshadow the dark ride we’ll be taking through Connection alongside Ji Sung (Adamas), Jeon Mi-do (Thirty-Nine), Kwon Yul (Longing for You), and Kim Kyung-nam (The One and Only. Directed by PD Kim Moon-kyo (Trolley) with Lee Hyun (Diary of a Prosecutor) penning the scripts, the thriller is slated to premiere on May 24 this month. [News]
  • In stark contrast, the cute pink party continues on JTBC’s new poster for My Sweet Mobster, which ironically also stars the perennial prosecutor (and second lead *sob*) Kwon Yul. Ex-thug Uhm Tae-gu (Hometown) is rocking that pink bow, though, and I’m hopeful that June 12 will bring a fun rom-com story with Han Sun-hwa (Work Later, Drink Now 2) as our kids content creator heroine. Neither of these dramas make me interested in.

I'm happy for the first role of Uhm Tae-gu, this pink accessories suit him! I wish Kwon Yul will be given the same chance one day. But sadly I'm not of big fan of Han Sun-Hwa.

I love Ji-Sung and Jeon Mi-do but the description of the characters doesn't make me excited, a drug addict, an unethical journalist...

Acquaintances is one of my anticipated dramas this year - Han Ji-min as CEO with Lee Joon-hyuk as her secretary and a single dad. Love the premise and hope it won’t disappoint.

Han Ji Min and Lee Joon Hyuk are both good looking. The gender reversal makes it interesting. I just eant to see Lee Joon Hyuk in another drama soon.

Anything with Han ji min with it, I will watch. She is one of those underrated actresses. I have been waiting for Acquaintances and I am hoping the wait and anticipation is worth it.

The writer has quite a range from daily dramas, weekenders to the recently completed Wonderful World. I honestly don’t know what to expect.

I have not watched any drama of the writer unfortunately. Most are weekend dramas that's why. I hope she surprises us a a good healing romance drama.

The woman who is different by day and night will definitely have a shorter title by the time it is released. Do you think they choose these random names for dramas like the K-drama tradition of calling the baby bump by a cute name which changes to the real name when the baby is born?
My sweet mobster is going all out on the drastic makeover.

I'm all for the "cute pink party"!! I'm loving the perennial prosecutor in Frankly Speaking where he is *cue drum beat* a doctor. 🙀
