News bites: April 30, 2024

Lee Jung-eun, Jung Eun-ji, Choi Jin-hyuk

  • JTBC announced that The Woman Who Is Different by Day and Night (roughly translated) has been slated for broadcast, with our heroine being Lee Jung-eun (A Bloody Lucky Day) by day and Jung Eun-ji (Work Later Drink Now 2) by night – a confusing conundrum for our hero Choi Jin-hyuk (Numbers). With PD Lee Hyung-min (Showtime Begins, Strong Woman Do Bong-soon) directing and scripts by Park Ji-ha (Good Casting), the fantasy rom-com will be airing on weekends starting June. [News1]

  • Jeon Jong-seo (Wedding Impossible) and Han So-hee (Gyeongseong Creature) have been cast in a new noir series called Project Y (working title). Set in the Gangnam region in Seoul with a pretty pile of gold bars at the crux of the story, production for the series has filmmaker Lee Hwan (Young Adult Matters) attached to direct and is aiming to start filming later this year. [SBS]
  • Taking us up to the snowy mountains in MBC’s newest poster for Bittersweet Hell, a wintry cold surrounds our mother-in-law and daughter-in-law pair: Kim Hee-sun (Remarriage & Desires) and Lee Hye-young (Big Bet). Taking over the weekend slot following Chief Detective 1958 on May 24, the black comedy and thriller also stars Kim Nam-hee (Chicken Nugget) and Yeonwoo (Numbers). [MBC]

  • A new poster has dropped for KBS’s rom-com Dare to Love Me as well, showcasing our Confucian fuddy-duddy L (a.k.a. Kim Myung-soo)(Numbers) together with our forward-thinking modern woman Lee Yoo-young (Insider). The webtoon adaptation is set to premiere in about two weeks on May 13, with PD Jang Yang-ho at the helm and writing by Park Yumi. [MK Sports]
  • If the stars align, boxing buddies Woo Do-hwan (Joseon Attorney) and Lee Sang-yi (My Demon) may be returning to our screens in a second installment for the crime-action Bloodhounds. Netflix reported that a Season 2 is currently in discussions, but production has not yet been confirmed. [Newsen]
  • New stills have come out for TVING’s I Openly Dream of Cinderella, where we get our first peek at Pyo Ye-jin (Moon in the Day). As our aspiring Cinderella, the rom-com will have her wooing the chaebol-not-charming Lee Jun-young (The Impossible Heir) – to his initial chagrin. But I suspect we’ll eventually get our happily ever after once the story unfolds in May. [Newsen]

Project Y : this is very interesting pairing for me for a very unusual reason. I have following JJS since Burning and after the whole HSH’s latest feud, It crossed to me outside acting, one is the the epitome of idgaf, nonchalant and cool person while the other “pretending” hard to be so. In real life I don’t think they are the kind of people who matched and befriend each other so I’m curious how their chemistry will appear on screen.

Bloodhound 2 : Let’s go!

Lol, now we are three. We should be able to at least match the 5 beanies who enjoyed the original Netflix’s BLOODHOUNDS (2023).

(It looks to me that Woo Do-hwan is keeping in shape by playing a boxer in the upcoming film TROPICAL NIGHT/NIGHT. I really hope I will be able to watch it.)

So do I. In theaters would be great but probably more than I could ask for in US

She's Different Day and Night caught my attention cause I missed CJH. But the fantasy take is usually hard to execute.. so many dramas had all kinds of built up but the plot eventually failed to sustain. The rest on the list doesn't call to me. Seems like after my current obsession, it will be a drought in Kdramaland

I read that Not Others will get a second season. I'm surprised because I don't see what they want to tell in a new season. The end was a little disapointing...

Suppose they'll turn Park Sung-hoon into the villain-he-always-seems-to-be in S2? Cop wife has to investigate and arrest corrupt cop husband?? 😂

Yeah, at a restaurant, he was smashed on the back and she told him to let the couple alone.

Will Jeon Hye-jin be in it? I hope she can continue her acting career despite the tragedy.

If they do another season, I would hope for it to be with another family.
Having a new pair of mother and daughter, would be better.

1. Very intriguing premise. Much depends on the execution I guess. The leads are solid and I loved Showtime Begins. So all good. 🤞

2. Nice!👌

3. Women power!! 🙌

4. Confucian fuddy-duddy or tsundere Chaebol  - I love you L. 😍😍😍

5. Kekekeke 🙈

6. What's not to love - if not the drama then we'll just amp up the Beanie chats!! ❤😊

1) interesting premise for a romcom. Intrigued.
4) Enough with the ultra-cute posters, pls just drop the drama already!
5) this premise seems unlikely imo bc PYJ doesn't look like the usual shy, doormat type FL we get in dramaland while LJY doesn't look like the cold, rude CEO type. let's see how this goes.

The woman who is different day and night sounds interesting I just hope it isn’t a modern day take on Jekyll and Hyde so too scary for me. I will check out I openly dream of Cinderella and Dare to love me.

Looks like a lot of dramas to add to my list. I will watch Choi Jin-hyuk in just about anything, and I do love me some L. Will be checking them all out for possible watching.

If SIG could get cast in a good drama with Jung Eunji and they could recapture their wonderful chemistry from Reply 1997, bonus will be in Busan satoori, SIG’s KD momentum could be invigorated.
