Pyo Ye-jin puts Lee Jun-young under her Cinderella spell

More promos have come twinkling in for TVING’s upcoming I Openly Dream of Cinderella, where we follow our shoe-ready heroine Pyo Ye-jin (Moon in the Day) in the newest poster and video teaser as she begins her mission to wed a chaebol charming.

Now, it wasn’t always a dream for our Shin Jae-rim (Pyo Ye-jin) to become a real-life Cinderella. But the idea starts to sound less ridiculous at an acquaintance’s wedding, when Jae-rim learns that the bride met her wealthy groom while working at our story’s main setting: the elite social club, Cheongdam Heaven.

This leads our heroine to apply for a job at said club, thinking she may as well try to bet on her chances and see if she can really turn her life around. In voiceover, her friend is hilariously supportive, reassuring Jae-rim that something is bound to happen if she just keeps throwing that glass slipper.

Jae-rim takes the advice quite literally, letting her sparkly shoe slip down the spiral stairs and into the path of a thoroughly unamused Lee Jun-young (The Impossible Heir). But not only can he see right through Jae-rim’s act, Moon Cha-min (Lee Jun-young) is – of course – her new crazy boss as Cheongdam Heaven’s CEO. Thankfully (?), our heroine’s second try doesn’t hit the goal post and she’s giddy to score a point with Kim Hyun-jin (Cheer Up).

This development has Cha-min trading glares with Jae-rim, with the former scoffing at her wooing tactics while the latter is determined to prove him wrong. But for someone who vehemently denies any interest in women or dating, our hero’s behavior is a little odd and Song Ji-woo (Doctor Slump) asks upfront, “By any chance, do you like Shin Jae-rim?”

Our 8th generation chaebol doth protest too much in his reply and feels further confused under the thrall of Jae-rim’s gaze, wondering to himself, “What have you done to me?!” As the final sequence continues, we watch as sparks of jealousy and ~feelings~ make their way between our main pair and Cha-min admits that Jae-rim seems innocent for dreaming of becoming Cinderella in a fairy tale way. The teaser then closes on Jae-rim’s explanation for wanting to get married and bask in the overflowing love from a great man.

With production led by PD Kim Min-kyung (Comedy Big League, SNL Korea) and writer Yoo Ja, TVING’s rom-com I Openly Dream of Cinderella will be premiering in two weeks on May 31.

It just occurred to me that gold digger FLs usually end up with poor MLs, in western romance, in order to illustrate her character growth and true love for the ML. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out with the ML actually being rich

Well that just put a completely new twist on my understanding of this story!

Also, I'm really curious as to why they have Jingle Bells incorporated into the bgm 🤔

The posters for this drama are so fun! I’m very ready for a thoroughly unamused (but also mysteriously bothered 😉) LJY.

This looks fun, I hope there is no murder, just fluff and circumstance, that is all I ask.

Oh no! If it comes out week by week I might have to hold off starting it so I can watch it all in a month 😓. No way I'm paying for more than a month of another streaming service...

The May dramas are looking like they have gone for fun as the top priority, looking forward to adding this one to the low stress watch list alongside Frankly speaking, Crash and Dare to love me.
