Baro was introduced as the rapper of the South Korean boy group B1A4 in April 2011. That same month, they released their debut extended play Let’s Fly. Their first studio album Ignition was released on March 14, 2012. In June 2012, their first Japanese single Beautiful Target hit the airwaves, debuting at number 4 on the Oricon weekly singles chart. In October 2012, they released their Japanese debut album titled 1. In 2018, Baro and B1A4 leader Jinyoung opted not to renew their contracts with their label WM Entertainment.


Baro made his acting debut as one of the main cast members of the hit tvN series Answer Me 1994. In 2014, he played a mentally challenged teenage boy in the SBS drama God’s Gift-14 Days. His work in the series scored him several Best New Actor nominations, including one from the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards. In 2015, he appeared in the MBC drama Angry Mom, in which he was nominated for Best New Actor at the MBC Drama Awards. In 2019, he acted alongside Sung Hoon and Han Bo-reum in the MBN office romantic comedy Level Up.


Baro’s younger sister Cha Yoon-ji, better known by her stage name I, debuted as a singer in January 2017. He enlisted for his mandatory military service in July 2019 and was discharged in February 2021.
