Chae Rim debuted in 1994 after winning the Miss Haitai beauty pageant. She soon became active as an actress, starring in numerous TV series in the 1990s such as SBS’s KAIST and MBC’s I’m Still Loving You. Her work in the latter won her Best New Actress at the 36th Baeksang Arts Awards. In 2000, she became a bonafide Hallyu star after starring in the widely popular MBC series All About Eve. She continued to appear in successful dramas such as SBS’s We Are Dating Now in 2002 and KBS2’s Oh Feel Young in 2004. She then expanded into acting in Taiwanese and Chinese dramas such as CTS channel’s Love of the Aegean Sea in 2004 and ATV’s Secret History of Kangxi in 2006. In 2007, she returned to Korean screens in the KBS2 rom-com Dal Ja’s Spring, which gave her a Top Excellence Award nomination at the KBS Drama Awards. In 2010, she was paired with Choi Siwon in another romantic comedy called Oh My Lady, which aired on SBS.
Chae Rim tied the knot with singer Lee Seung-hwan in May 2003, but their marriage ended in divorce after almost three years. In October 2014, she married Chinese actor Gao Ziqi. They welcomed their son in December 2017. The couple parted ways in 2020. Her younger brother Park Yoon-jae is also an actor.
