Choi Hwa-jung has been active in the entertainment industry since the early 1980s with the 1984 film Divorce Court being her first known big screen appearance. She continued to be cast in more movies, including 1987’s One-Winged Angel and 1988’s Prostitution. In 1990, she expanded into radio and hosted the program You’re the Best on KBS Radio. In 1996, she began hosting the SBS Power FM radio show Choi Hwa-jung’s Power Time, which still airs up until now. In 2001, she became part of the MBC romance drama Hotelier. She also had supporting roles in the MBC sageuk Kim Suro in 2010 and in the KBS2 family weekend drama Wonderful Season in 2014. In 2016, she played Go Kyung-pyo’s mother in the SBS series Jealousy Incarnate. In 2023, she joined the main cast of the tvN action comedy Stealer: The Treasure Keeper.
