Daniel Choi debuted in the 2000 EBS drama School Stories. His work in the popular MBC sitcom High Kick Through the Roof earned him a Best New Actor trophy at the 2009 MBC Entertainment Awards and a nomination for the same category at the 46th Baeksang Arts Awards. He was then cast in the low-budget romantic comedy film Cyrano Agency, which became the sleeper hit of 2010. He garnered various Best New Actor nominations for his performance in the movie. In 2011, he received an Excellence Award at the KBS Drama Awards for the romantic comedy series Baby Faced Beauty. He then starred in the 2017 KBS2 workplace romantic comedy series Jugglers, opposite Baek Jin-hee. The following year, he headlined the KBS2 horror thriller The Ghost Detective together with Park Eun-bin. Daniel Choi won an Excellence Award at the 2018 KBS Drama Awards for his performance in Jugglers and The Ghost Detective.


Aside from being an actor, Daniel Choi has also been an anchorman for KBS World Radio since 2011 and a radio DJ for KBS 2FM since 2013. He also contributed his vocals to the official soundtrack of the movie Cyrano Agency.


Daniel Choi is the second child of his parents. He has a brother who is six years older than him. He was given the name Daniel because his parents considered him a gift from God. His mother did not consider having a second child because she had serious morning sickness during her first pregnancy. His father had a vasectomy after the birth of the couple’s first child. Despite all this, Daniel was still conceived. He enlisted for his mandatory military service on October 2, 2015 and served at the Seoul VHS Medical Center as a public service worker. He was discharged on September 29, 2017.
