Ha Hee-ra made her debut as an actress in the 1981 KBS1 drama Land. In 1988, she won Best New Actress at the 24th Baeksang Arts Awards for the film Campus Romance Seminar. In 1990, she starred in the MBC series What Women Want, in which she was named Best Actress at the 27th Baeksang Arts Awards. In 1992, she received an Excellence Award at the MBC Drama Awards for her work in What Is Love. In 1993, she headlined the KBS1 series The Break of Dawn, which earned her the Daesang at the KBS Drama Awards. In 1995, she bagged a Top Excellence Award at the KBS Drama Awards for A Place in the Sun. In 2006 and 2007, she took home acting honors for her performance in MBC’s Love Me When You Can and SBS’s Catching Up With Gangnam Moms. In 2018, she led the cast of the KBS2 morning soap opera Lady Cha Dal-rae’s Lover, which gave her an Excellence Award at the KBS Drama Awards.


Ha Hee-ra was born in Seoul to a Taiwanese father and a Korean mother. She married actor Choi Soo-jong in November 1993, after which she took Korean nationality. She and her husband have a son and a daughter together.
