Han Seung-yeon debuted with the South Korean girl group Kara in 2007. They released their debut studio album The First Blooming in March of that year. They achieved their first number one song with Honey from their extended play Pretty Girl Special Edition released in 2009. That same year, the group dropped their second studio album Revolution, which produced the hit single Mister. In November 2010, they released their debut Japanese album Girl’s Talk, which sold over 100,000 copies in its first week. Japan’s Oricon named the group as 2010’s Best Rookie Artist.


Prior to her debut with Kara, Han Seung-yeon already had an appearance as a child actress in the 1997 MBC series Star in My Heart. In 2013, she became part of the main cast of the SBS sageuk series Jang Ok-jung, Live by Love. In 2015, she and actor Hong Jong-hyun were chosen as Best Couple at the 9th Cable TV Broadcasting Awards for the SBS drama Her Lovely Heels. In 2016, she was cast as one of the main leads of the JTBC series Age of Youth and went on to reprise her role in its second season. In 2021, she received the Fantastic Actor Jury’s Special Mention at the 25th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival for her performance in the comedy-horror film Show Me the Ghost.


Han Seung-yeon attended Tenafly High School in New Jersey, USA. She later majored in theater and film at Kyung Hee University.
