Hyun Bin made his acting debut in the 2003 KBS2 series Bodyguard. In 2004, he received recognitions for his work in the sitcom Nonstop 4 and the romantic drama Ireland, which both aired on MBC. In 2005, he was launched into fame with his leading role in the hit MBC romantic comedy My Name Is Kim Sam-soon, which won him a Top Excellence Award at the MBC Drama Awards. In 2010, he was paired with Ha Ji-won in the widely popular SBS series Secret Garden, which gave him numerous accolades, including the Daesang for TV at the 47th Baeksang Arts Awards. In 2018, he was cast in the tvN fantasy suspense series Memories of the Alhambra, which scored him a Best Actor nomination at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards. In 2019, he played a North Korean army captain in the top-rating tvN romantic comedy Crash Landing on You, which won him the Daesang at the 7th APAN Star Awards and the Most Popular Actor trophy at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards.


Hyun Bin served as a soldier in South Korea’s Marine Corps for his mandatory military service beginning March 2011. He was discharged in December 2012. In January 2021, it was confirmed that he is dating Sohn Ye-jin, whom he co-starred with in the film The Negotiation and in the TV series Crash Landing on You. In March 2022, the couple tied the knot.
