Im Soo-hyang landed a bit role in the 2009 thriller film 4th Period Mystery while she was still a university student. In 2011, she was cast in a leading role in the SBS romantic melodrama New Gisaeng Story, opposite Sung Hoon. Her work in the series won her two Best New Actress trophies. In 2014, she starred in the KBS2 period drama Age of Feeling, which scored her an Excellence Award nomination at the KBS Drama Awards. In 2016, she bagged acting nominations at the MBC and KBS Drama Awards for her performance in Blow Breeze and Five Kids, respectively. In 2017, she took home an Excellence Award at the KBS Drama Awards for her portrayal of a single mom police officer in the daily series Lovers in Bloom. In 2018, she led JTBC’s My ID Is Gangnam Beauty, in which she received a Top Excellence Award at the 26th Korea Culture and Entertainment Awards. In 2019, she headlined the hit MBN drama Graceful Family, which recorded a peak viewership rating of over eight percent, making it the second highest-rated series of the cable network. In 2020, she earned a Top Excellence Award at the MBC Drama Awards for the romantic melodrama When I Was the Most Beautiful.
