Jang Hyun-sung was a member of the Hakjeon Theater Company before he became one of the most visible stars in TV and films in South Korea. Some of his early notable works include the films Nabi and Spider Forest, which were released in 2001 and 2004, respectively. In 2005, he starred in director Song Il-gon’s Feathers in the Wind, opposite Lee So-yeon. That same year, he acted alongside Jeon Mi-seon in the movie Love Is a Crazy Thing. In 2007, he received an Excellence Award at the KBS Drama Awards for his work in Golden Age for Daughters-in-Law. In 2013, he became part of the main cast of the SBS weekend series Goddess of Marriage, which won him a Special Award at the SBS Drama Awards. In 2015, he took home another Special Award at the SBS Drama Awards for the black comedy Heard It Through the Grapevine. In 2016, he played a supporting role in the SBS medical drama Doctors, which earned him a Top Excellence Award at the 9th Korea Drama Awards.


Jang Hyun-sung and his wife Yang Hee-jung have two sons together. The family appeared in the KBS2 reality-variety show The Return of Superman from 2013 to 2014.
