Jeon Soo-kyung made her official big-time stage debut at 23 years old through the musical Cats. She has since starred in the Korean productions of many well-known musicals such as Rent, Chicago, and Annie. In 1997, she was named Best Supporting Actress at the 3rd annual Korea Musical Awards for her performance in 42nd Street. In 1999, she once again won Best Supporting Actress at the 5th Korea Musical Awards for The Life. In 2002, she took home the Best Actress trophy at the 8th Korea Musical Awards for Kiss Me, Kate. Aside from her prolific career in theater, Jeon Soo-kyung has also appeared in numerous films and television dramas, mostly playing supporting roles. In 2021, she joined the main cast of TV Chosun’s hit melodrama Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce).
Jeon Soo-kyung and hotel executive Eric Swanson tied the knot in September 2014. She has twin daughters from her previous marriage that ended in divorce in 2008.
