Jin Se-yeon was an idol trainee but debuted as an actress instead. Her first acting role was in the 2010 SBS drama It’s Okay, Daddy’s Girl. Her debut movie was the 2011 film White: Melody of Death. It was also in 2011 when Jin Se-yeon landed her first leading role in the SBS daily drama My Daughter the Flower, in which she earned the New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards. In 2012, she was cast as lead in the KBS2 drama Gaksital, opposite Joo Won. She was hailed Best New Actress at the 2012 KBS Drama Awards for her performance in the series. In 2016, she starred in the war drama film Operation Chromite along with Lee Jung-jae, Lee Beom-soo, and Hollywood actor Liam Neeson. In 2016, she took on the sageuk drama Flower in Prison, which served as MBC’s special project to commemorate the network’s 55th founding anniversary. She took home an Excellence Award at the 2016 MBC Drama Awards for the series.


In 2012, it was revealed that Jin Se-yeon was actually born in 1994 and not in 1993. Jin Se-yeon’s agency explained that they added a year to her age because having debuted at only 17 years old, her young age made it difficult for her to land acting roles.
