Jo Sung-ha began his acting career on stage before landing his first film role in Inshalla in 1997. He has since become active on both the big and small screens. Some of his early works include the horror-drama film Spider Forest in 2004 and the KBS2 sageuk series Hwang Jini in 2006. In 2011, he appeared in KBS2’s Romance Town, which earned him a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the KBS Drama Awards. That same year, he starred in the action-thriller film The Yellow Sea, which won him Best Supporting Actor at the 48th Grand Bell Awards. In 2012, he acted alongside Kim Min-hee and Lee Seon-kyun in the mystery-thriller film Helpless, which gave him an Excellence Award at the 20th Korea Culture and Entertainment Awards. In 2013, he took home another Excellence Award, this time at the KBS Drama Awards for King’s Family. In 2014, he received a Baeksang Best Supporting Actor nomination for the action-thriller movie The Suspect. In 2016, he joined the main casts of OCN’s Neighborhood Hero and tvN’s The K2. In 2021, he became part of the SBS saguek Lovers of the Red Sky, which scored him a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the SBS Drama Awards.
