Jung Seok-won started his entertainment career as a stuntman before turning to acting and modeling. He started to gain attention as an actor in 2008 when he appeared in the KBS2 romance drama The World They Live In. In 2010, he acted alongside Kim So-yeon and Uhm Tae-woong in SBS’s Dr. Champ. In 2011, he landed his first leading role in the action movie The Beast. In 2012, he starred in the SBS fusion sageuk Rooftop Prince and in the KBS2 rom-com Haeundae Lovers, which helped boost his popularity. That same year, he became part of the film R2B: Return to Base. In 2019, he was cast in the hit Netflix zombie sageuk Kingdom and then returned for its second season and spin-off released in 2020 and 2021, respectively.


Jung Seok-won studied martial arts at the Incheon City College. In June 2013, he married singer Baek Ji-young. They welcomed their first daughter in May 2017. In 2018, the actor was arrested for drug use and was given 10 months of probation and two years of a suspended prison sentence.
