Kang Shin-hyo made his acting debut in the 2012 independent film The Russian Novel, which had its world premiere at the 17th Busan International Film Festival. His performance in the movie earned him nominations for Best Actor and Best New Actor at the inaugural Wildflower Film Awards. He then landed his first television acting gig in the 2013 KBS2 espionage series IRIS 2. He also played supporting roles in JTBC’s Yoo-na’s Street and KBS1’s You Are the Only One in 2014 and in the SBS sageuk Six Flying Dragons in 2015. In 2017, he appeared in the SBS legal thriller Falsify, which scored him a Best New Actor nomination at the SBS Drama Awards.
