Kim Tae-hee got her start in the entertainment industry as a model before making her acting debut in the 2001 film Last Present. Her career breakthrough came in 2003 when she played the evil stepsister in the hit SBS series Stairway to Heaven, which won her the New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards. In 2004, she portrayed a gumiho in the KBS2 series Forbidden Love, which earned her the Best New Actress trophy at the KBS Drama Awards. In 2005, she was named Most Popular Actress for TV at the 41st Baeksang Arts Awards for her work in the SBS drama Love Story in Harvard. In 2007, she took home more popularity awards for her appearance in the 2006 fantasy film The Restless. In 2009, she starred in the big-budget KBS2 espionage series IRIS, which scored her an Excellence Award at the KBS Drama Awards. She also bagged a Best Actress nomination at the 46th Baeksang Arts Awards for her performance in the drama. In 2015, she was paired with Joo Won in the SBS series Yong-pal, which gave her two Top Excellence Awards.


Kim Tae-hee majored in fashion design at Seoul National University. She married singer-actor Rain in January 2017 after dating for five years. The couple welcomed their first daughter on October 25, 2017. Their second daughter was born on September 19, 2019. Kim Tae-hee’s younger brother Lee Wan is also an actor.
