Min-ho debuted with the South Korean boy group SHINee in 2008 with the extended play Replay. That same year, they released their debut Korean studio album The SHINee World, which won Newcomer Album of the Year at the 23rd Golden Disc Awards. In 2011, they dropped their first Japanese full-length album The First, which was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan for selling over 100,000 copies. In 2019, Min-ho released his debut solo single titled I’m Home.


Min-ho landed his first acting role in the 2010 KBS2 drama special Pianist. In 2012, he starred alongside Sulli and Lee Hyun-woo in SBS’s To the Beautiful You, which was based on the Japanese shōjo manga series Hanazakari no Kimitachi e. His work in the drama won him the New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards. In 2013, he became part of MBC’s Medical Top Team, which earned him a Best New Actor nomination at the MBC Drama Awards. In 2016, he joined the star-studded cast of the KBS2 sageuk Hwarang. That same year, he made his big screen debut in Canola, which scored him a Best New Actor nomination at the 53rd Grand Bell Awards. In 2017, he was once again nominated for Best New Actor at the Grand Bell Awards for the film Derailed. In 2017, he acted alongside Kim Myung-min and Hollywood actress Megan Fox in the action-war film The Battle of Jangsari, which gave him the Jury’s Special Prize at the 40th Golden Cinema Film Festival.


Min-ho’s father is former soccer player and now coach Choi Yoon-kyum. He enlisted for his mandatory military service in April 2019 and was discharged in November 2020.
